I cannot fault the service, food, standard of accommodation at The Buck's Head. But the most outstanding at all was the outstanding service and warm welcome, nothing was too much trouble. After walking all day, we misjudged our timings and it got darker a lot quicker than we'd planned for. The friendly staff came to our rescue and picked us...

Lara, thank you for your review. I am so glad you had a good time with us, we really enjoyed having you here. We wouldn't ever leave someone stranded in the dark around here, when we don't have street lighting around the area. Come and join us again if you should be around Meonstoke, you will be so welcome. After a hard days walking it's a delight to be looked after as well as we've just been. A wonderfully warm welcome, a basket for muddy boots (how thoughtful is that?) and within seconds you just know that you've found the ideal place to stay. A warm fire, good beer, fantastic food - my venison was very special; and a...

Travelling through village we called in on the off chance for an un-booked Sunday lunch. Although it was busy the staff were very welcoming and fitted us in. The food was amazing. I have never had such delicious carrots and actually asked the staff how they were cooked. The waitress went and asked the chef and came back with the...

Been here a few times recently and booked again for this coming Sunday. I must say I was very impressed when the lady who answered the phone to take my booking remembered me from my previous visits (hopefully in a nice way!) The pub is lovely and cosy with log fires at each end of the pub and is in...

On a wet dismal Monday afternoon, having abandoned our planned shopping trip in Winchester, we stopped off on our way home for lunch. There was only one member of staff on duty and he was very busy, taking orders and serving all on his own. However, he was very polite and apologised for keeping us waiting because he had no...

We have been here a couple of times for lunch in the last 6 months and the food is consistently good and the beer is excellent. The hosts are very friendly and I'd describe this as a good country pub in pleasant surroundings. Certainly worth a visit if you are in the area.

Stayed here with 3 children whilst walking the South Downs way. It was definitely the best place we stayed along our route. The bedrooms were spacious, beds comfortable and breakfast was delicious. Very welcoming - nothing was too much trouble.

My husband and I had originally tried two pubs in the area for lunch which were full, so when we walked in the Bucks Head after driving by and seeing it served food we were very grateful they could seat us. I'm always nervous when trying a place to eat when it hasn't been recommended to me but food did...

Visited for Sunday lunch and had an excellent roast beef with all the trimmings. Have previously sampled some other items from a reasonably priced menu with specials always on offer. Very dog friendly with a young staff who are attentive and enthusiastic. We shall be returning many times, I am sure.
