5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We stayed for 1 night last Saturday at the Bucks head while walking the SDW and had a wonderful stay. When we arrived we were in the dreaded period between sessions 3-6pm when the pub closes so I was worried we would have to wait - no such thing - we were warmly greeted by the landlady who had a... Paid my first visit to this delightful country Inn and Pub yesterday for a meal. Although busy, the atmosphere was not overpowering and the background music was unobtrusive. Our meal was excellent and served at the right time from when we gave our order. It's obvious that the Landlady,Landlord and staff work very hard to ensure that everyone's visit is as enjoyable... This was a very welcome stay on our South Downs Way walking trip with exceptional hospitality. Our host, Nicky made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Our Rooms were very well appointed, clean and warm for very weary and wet travellers. The breakfast was just outstanding requiring an heroic effort to get through but set us up... More

We booked all the rooms at The Bucks Head for family and friends for a weekend as my son was getting married at St Andrews which is literally next door. Nicki was the perfect hostess, taking a real interest in what was a massive event for us and adding an extra gloss to a wonderful weekend. She even put us... More

In a beautiful setting, ideal for anyone walking or cycling through. Good food well prepared and served by happy welcoming staff. Only lost a point in my review due to only a couple of real ales available, there are some great local breweries nearby which I would have liked to have seen represented at the bar.

Many thanks for your lovely review. I agree, we come from a lovely area with some fantastic micro breweries locally producing. As we are proud to be part of "The Greene King' estate, we are tied to only selling Greene King ales, or from their nominated suppliers. The locals get involved on this selection process, and help us decide which... More

Idyllic setting by picturesque river and church. Garden overlooking both on background of blossom. Clean bright room. Food tasty and plentiful. Young staff welcoming, enthusiastic and friendly. Were not even charged for our packed sandwich for the following day on the South Downs Way! Warmly recommend.

This is a pub with everything going for it. Within sight of the A32 the 'Bucks Head' is set between Meonstoke and Corehampton, has its own car park, beer garden and oodles of 'Old English' charm. Once inside you will be welcomed by the attentive and friendly staff which really adds to the overall experience. The menu is varied and... More

Perhaps Meonstoke has attractions for some people but to us it is just a small sleepy rather uninteresting village so, unsurpisingly, there is little choice locally for accommodation. Which clearly goes some way to expalining why The Buck's Head is not exactly great value for money. That said, it is a very pleasant establishment. Very friendly service. A nice light... More

Went there for an evening meal, I am pleased we didn't have a starter as the main courses are huge and couldn't eat it all, which was a shame as it was really tasty. Washed it down with a nice pint of real ale. .
