My husband 11 year old son and I, spent three wonderful nights in one of the two bed cottages, over half term. The cottage was traditionally styled and super cosy with a fireplace. Felt like home from home. We had all the normal services of the hotel including room service. The hotel is in an ideal location for picturesque country walks. The staff at the hotel were great. Friendly and very attentive. I was particularly touched that when the restaurant staff found out that I was vegan on the first evening the chef prepared a full vegan menu for me for the rest of my stay. Not only was this lovely but the food was so delicious that my non vegan son ate all my desert! We would like to thank everyone at summer lodge for a wonderful stay. We left to continue our break in Cornwall but our son loved it so much he did not want to leave. Despite all the COVID restrictions, it’s still a special place. We wish everyone at summer lodge all the very best during these difficult times and hope to return in the not too distant future. Warmest regards.

We stayed 3rd & 4th Nov sadly only 2 nights as we enjoyed our stay so much , attentive well trained and friendly staff, excellent food and service, comfortable well provided facilities and lovely location . We were delighted with the little extras that were left for my husbands birthday , very thoughtful and a nice touch. We did not use the spar, however we will bring our tennis rackets next time as the court look ok. Yes it’s expensive, but it’s a 5 star hotel. We were in the cottage in the grounds which was well appointed, however as my husband is quite tall he found it a little uncomfortable in some places, bedroom was delightful, very quiet, but next time we would prefer to be in the main part of the hotel.

Following our recent two night stay with our friends, I would to congratulate your team for making our stay so enjoyable. With doubt they are amazing and a credit to your hotel and the hospitality industry. My wife and I regularly visit hotels in this country and abroad and whilst we have enjoyed many excellent experiences, we have not felt so welcome, as we were at Summer Lodge. The team have struck the difficult balance of being super friendly with being very professional. Sadly, I can only remember the names, Alexandra, Maisie, Valentina & Eric but everyone that we came into contact with was excellent. Please pass on our thanks to everyone front of house and behind the scenes. Your hotel is outstanding, the setting beautiful and the food excellent. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay and we look forward to revisiting again.

This was our second stay at Summer Lodge. My wife described it as getting off the world for a few days. From the moment we arrived we felt totally relaxed. It's a beautiful hotel. We stayed in one of the premium rooms in the old stables. Sumptuous room with comfortable furniture and a sparkly bathroom. Roll-top bath and walkin shower. All the staff go above and beyond to make you feel at home. Whether it's just remembering your favourite table in the restaurant or what your preference of drink is. The button on the phone says it all. "whatever whenever". That's the feeling you get: nothing is too much trouble. The food is fantastic. We had breakfast, dinner, room service and afternoon tea. I couldn't fault any of it. Everything in the hotel is spotless. There wasn't a thing out of place. All tables are cleared quickly and thoroughly. Our room was left spotless each day and at the turndown in the evening. You have to book a time slot at the swimming pool at the moment but it's well worth it. Although it's a maximum of eight people at any time It with just the two of us. Totally relaxing. I was sad to say goodbye and cant wait to go back. We'll be back at the end of February to celebrate our anniversary. Can't wait.

Top notch service from everyone at Summer Lodge makes this hotel stand out from the crowd. Impressively attentive without being intrusive , they just get it right. Food was lovely including the delicious pre starters and pre desserts, and great bread. The excellent wine list was an attraction and Eric the sommelier and his assistant were knowledgeable and helpful. It’s a kind of chintzy heaven in terms of comfort - traditional style which fits the house. We stayed in a cosy cottage in the attractive grounds with everything we needed, good bathroom and a cosy fire. Don’t go looking for hipster vibes but go to be cosseted and welcomed. We’d like to return.
