A group of us went to the George and Dragon recently, the bar staff were great and the atmosphere was good. Zhaneta is great at making cocktails and Keith and Ned were welcoming and very professional. I would go again, especially if they introduce a happy hour!!

My husband and I stayed here on NYE as we were at a party nearby. We arrived early and had a bite to eat in the pub and then were very promptly checked into our room. The room was beautifully decorated and the bed and pillows were super comfy. Bit of a blip with one of the fuses blowing when...

We have had one or two-night stays here three times and will probably come again when visiting the area. Dog-friendliness is always a must for us. The rooms are quirkily comfortable rather than luxurious, but there is a good atmosphere, the staff are cheerful and helpful, and breakfast good. We also had an evening meal in the bar on our...

We hired the whole place as we got married in West Wycombe park and this was within walking distance so easy for friends and family to stay at and no worries about driving. Good value for money and the 4 poster bedrooms are great. The place isn't perfect and the rooms are 'lived in' but it's got character by the...

I've lived in this area a very long time and been coming to the George on & off for many years. I've seen it go through ups and downs and changes of ownership and at the moment, I'm a bit torn. The current owners are working really hard to make a go of it. They've improved the decor and layout...

This part of Buckinghamshire is very rich in walks and places to visit. We chose the George and Dragon as our base and would happily do so again. It is well located and has a lot of charm. The bar is very atmospheric, with good local beers, a proper wood fire, and an extensive menu. Food varied from average to...

Stayed at The George & Dragon Hotel for a visit to The Hand and Flowers in nearby Marlow. Lovely 18th century hotel with a really cosy bar which was packed, this is obviously a popular place with the locals and I can see why, good choice of wine, beer and ales. The rooms were really nicely decorated with comfy beds,...

Stayed here on business and the team were really accommodating. Room was very nice and comfortable, it was also quiet considering it overlooked the high street I had the cheese and mushroom omelette which was well cooked and delicious. Hope to be back

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
'As of the 18th July 2012, the George and Dragon Hotel, West Wycombe is under new management. In the very near future we will be sympathetically refurbishing all of the rooms in the hotel ensuring that none of the unique original character is lost. We have already made a lot of positive improvements since the takeover including a full thorough deep clean of all the rooms. Shortly we will be developing the downstairs to include a 40+ cover restaurant whilst keeping the rustic charm of the original bar. As the rooms develop we will post new photos to keep you informed. We hope to see you soon.' Through a cobbled archway on West Wycombe High Street, you come to the entrance of a coaching inn built in the early 18th century. When you walk in, it feels quite natural that people have been doing this for almost three centuries. Generations of traders, travellers, lovers and visitors have left traces of their presence on the building and its atmosphere, not least of whom is Sukie, the beautiful social climber whose ghost is said to haunt the building. The attentive service you receive from our staff, however, leaves you in no doubt that you are in the present now. Whether you hope for quick service for a business lunch or a more relaxed pace for dinner with friends, you will not be disappointed. On a fine day, you can sit in our large garden. At the George and Dragon, you will find your bedroom both comfortable and interesting. Two of the rooms have four-poster beds and all of them have the uneven floorboards and quirky angles that come with age. One room straddles the archway into the inn's courtyard and another gives a view over the old roofs and chimneys of West Wycombe. Recent concessions to modern living include en-suite bathrooms, tea and coffee making facilities and Freeview TV. We have three full-time chefs who create an intriguing menu which is English at heart including local game, English cheeses, traditional favourites and lamb from the local estate. Some menu items and daily specials will represent the chefs' selection from the rest of the world and may include dishes from the Mediterranean and the Far East. As you would expect from an establishment where good dining is such a high priority, we also have a choice of well kept real ales, and an ever-developing wine list. ... more   less
