Detailed Reviews
This hotel is one of the iconic places in Domburg. We had a nice room overlooking the park, where during the daytime kids can play and run around at the lawn. Around the lawn are some nice chairs where you can sit in the sun or in the shade of the trees. The hotel has a large parking lot, and has many bicycles that you can use to travel along the dunes and beaches. The staff was very friendly. We had a perfect stay and are looking forward to returning here.

I arrived after a long drive and didn't have a reservation,I really got the feeling from the reception staff that I couldn't afford to stay here! When I agreed to their rates (which are too pricey really for what you get) I was asked to pay for everything in advance! I offered to leave my credit card as a guarantee but that was declined. Perhaps if I was wearing a suit things may have been different! The front of house guy was downright rude,he walked away from me in mid conversation and never held eye contact. Sometimes money doesn't buy you everything! I'm going to find a cheap B&B with nice people!

Had an excellent stay in one of their fully refurbished family rooms! Would recommend it to anyone. Staff were going well out of their way to make anything possible, especially where the kids were concerned. Very hospitable and we were made very welcome.

Nightmare on Domburgse Weg
Yes, you read that correctly. I chose to delve into the same theme as the famous blockbuster movie from 1984. Continue reading this article, as it recounts a real story that occurred on January 27, 2024.
My girlfriend and I were eagerly anticipating a night out, seeking respite from our daily routine and hoping for a rejuvenating experience. Since she hails from the region, I thought it would be a nice gesture to book a stay at the Badhotel Domburg, which looked fantastic on their website. I wanted to explore the area and celebrate her roots.
Our day started perfectly. We enjoyed a windy but pleasant day strolling around, indulging in some oysters and wine before checking in. However, our experience took a turn when they struggled to locate our booking, which proved to be just the beginning of the issues that would plague our stay.
Upon checking into our room, it seemed promising at first glance, giving us the impression that we were getting what we paid for. However, as we settled in, we couldn't help but notice the eerie-looking photos adorning the walls. Little did we know what lay ahead.
The lack of information about the hotel made things challenging. Finding documentation for room service was a struggle, and when I called room service, I was met with what felt like an interrogation. They questioned why I didn't just go down to get things myself, as it would be cheaper. It seemed odd, especially when you've booked a room at a good price – shouldn't that be cause for celebration? Furthermore, there appeared to be no communication between the employees. Every request or query had to be explained anew to each individual.
After a long day, all we wanted to do was sleep, but as soon as we lay on the bed, it fell apart. Another issue in an already eventful day – we had to sleep horizontally since there was no immediate solution. The next day, when we mentioned our experience to the receptionist, she casually remarked that the beds must have been connected with a rope or something similar, which was probably overlooked during cleaning.
Even after checking out and trying to put the nightmare behind us, our ordeal wasn't over. The hotel contacted me a few days later, admitting they had forgotten to charge the amount to my credit card. While they had reserved the amount, they forgot to process it as payment, leading me to provide them with authorization.
However, despite authorizing the payment, I later noticed that the reservation from Badhotel Domburg was still on my credit card. When I reached out to the hotel about this issue, no one could provide a satisfactory explanation as to why the reservation was still in place. In total, I called the hotel five times to resolve the issue, and despite being promised callbacks three times, none were received. Finally, I was informed that the reservation on my credit card would be removed after 20 days.
In conclusion, our stay at Badhotel Domburg was truly a nightmare. I hope your experience, either past or future, proves to be far more enjoyable than ours.

The hotel has all the ingredients for a good hotel (history, location near the beach, large rooms, indoor swimming pool albeit small, sauna, library sitting area, bar, restaurant), but the quality is not there for the price. While the exterior looks good, it goes downhill when you go inside. Dinner is mediocre, furnishings are worn/cheap, dogs are allowed and are everywhere in the hotel, service is okay but nothing special. Note that you don't have view of the sea.
This is a hotel that is trying to use its history and list of facilities to charge high prices but the quality is not there. They need to either upgrade the quality or lower the prices. In a nutshell, if you have a dog, money to burn and low expectations about quality then this is maybe a good choice.

I choose this hotel which is less than 3 hours away from our home to celebrate my wife's 70th birthday. I ordered a nice bunch of flowers to be placed in the room and booked in the restaurant for dinner. No recognition was shown to my wife's Birthday at dinner but of course they do not have to.
We went to this hotel for three days as we wanted to "tank up" with fresh air and do some bike riding.
We ordered the bikes and was told to collect them at the back of the hotel although it seemed the young man had time to take us there and to ensure everything was OK
At breakfast we saw very old people with " "walkers"
struggling to get their breakfast from the buffet and although there was enough staff there, nobody seemed to help them.
We booked from Sunday to Tuesday and we planned to leave Domburg in the afternoon on the Tuesday. So when checking out we asked the hotel that we wanted to hire two bikes until about 3.00 pm
and we're told that as we had checked out we had to hire the bikes in the village although there was enough bikes there. I was told this is company policy.
Why go for three days if you cannot hire a bike on the third day although you are staying at the hotel.
What a terrible attitude. What terrible service! This hotel will never see us again!

The Badhotel offers 4 parking lots for electric cars ("normal" charger and 2 Tesla Destination Chargers) what of course if quite innovative. But my whole experience became a disaster when I arrived there with an empty battery (!) and all charging points where blocked with normal cars.
Upon arrival the employess of the Badhotel did not really care and in the end - after spending quite some time - I had to use a charging point where I had to pay instead of using the FREE Tesla Destination Charger.
Upon departure I was completely disappointed when I got the final advice from the receptionist that it might be better to use an alternative charging point outside the hotel next time (!!???!)
Room was OK, breakfast was fine.

Response from JOudesluijs, Manager at Badhotel Domburg
Responded Sep 7, 2016
Dear Sir, Madam, Thank you very much for the feedback on your stay at the Badhotel Domburg. As our parking lot has limited capacity, it happens that all the parking spaces are occupied. As the charging spots counted as parking spaces, it can happen that these were occupied at the moment you arrived at the hotel. In order to prevent such inconvencience, I would like to recommend you to let us know in advance you are owner of a Tesla- or electric car, so we can have a closer look at the possibilities to garantee you a charging spot. We are looking forward welcoming you again in Badhotel Domburg. Warm regards, Jolanda & the Badhotel Team

My husband and I recently spend a weekend at the Bad Hotel in Domburg, Netherlands, which was a fantastic experience. The food in the restaurant was excellent, the service was very personal and friendly overall in the hotel, and the rooms are very confortable. The hotel has a large parking facility, and is at walking distance to the beach. Great value for money !

The waiter and the waitress were very kind. We were looking for Fruits de Mer, a dish we like specially in France. After reading the menu and pricelist we decided to finish our drinks and move on. Not the quality that we are used to in France. We'd better drive some 200 miles to the south and enjoy a genuine plateau de fruits de mer. Wine like a bottle of Sancerre was also very expensive. Including a full tank gasoline, tol-kosts Westerscheldetunnel and 2 hours travelingtime worth to drive to calais
We recommend to have a drink (or two) on the terras.

We stayed at the Badhotel on a 3 night-2-meal-deal with my mother of 93. It was in many respects the ideal place: clean (and spacious) rooms with good beds, friendly service, excellent meals. It is of course a pity that ther isn't a sea view, especially with a person with reduced mobility like my mother. It would have been better if wheelchairs had been available for guests, enabling us to get around more, but they weren't. We liked sitting on the heated terrace after dinner (but could have done without the music from the speakers overhead). Breakfast is copious and excellent, with the freshest orange juice and all sorts of extra's - but how a person of reduced mobility would be able to help themselves is a mystery to me. Tea making facilities in the rooms are there, but unfortunately the tea provided is of very poor quality.

Dear Mrs/Mr Ida797, Thank you for your feedback on your and your mother's stay at Badhotel Domburg. I am glad you enjoyed the Badhotel and his surroundings, though I realized that a wheelchair had been practical. Unfortunately, the hotel does not offer such facilities, but these can be booked through one of our care partners. We would like to advise you accordingly on a subsequent booking. Regarding the tea in the room; we would like to invite you next time at our Grand Café, where (fresh) tea is being served. We are looking forward welcoming you and your mother back in Badhotel Domburg! Sincerely, Jolanda Oudesluijs Rooms Division manager

Hello,
As far as I can tell, dogs are "free" during the off-season. During the summer months I'm not so sure, best check the tourist office at vvvzeeland.nl, You can write them in English, just about everyone here speaks English.
Concerning the room, I have seen people with a dog in the hotel, so I guess taking your dog with you should be ok.
