You only realise the beauty of this old hotel once you enter and explore. It made an excellent base for us for three nights whilst we explored the local area. The rooms are a generous size furnished with quirky old furniture totally in keeping with the history of the hotel which the pictures don’t really reflect. The hotel has a beautiful roof top terrace with a jacuzzi and sauna from which you can view the night sky. We spent a lot of time up there. The receptionist “David” was helpful and friendly and very skilled with the corkscrew for opening our evening wine bottle. The best restaurant we found was the one just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel with the big sign on the roof…sorry can’t remember the name. The hotel was quiet and peaceful and represented good value for money.

If you fancy a stay in a beautiful traditional hotel then this is the place - fell in love with it as soon as we stepped inside. Our room was huge with a massive bed, and with a large bathroom (no bath just shower), in a delightful courtyard type setting. The breakfast was pleasant, being continental with fresh meats, cheese, croissants etc. You can have eggs but that’s the only hot option. The roof terrace is fabulous with far reaching views down to the coast, and has sun loungers, a jacuzzi (cold) and a brilliant sauna which is free to use. There is also a lovely underground pool which has jacuzzi style bubbles. Very peaceful, very relaxing and highly recommended

Hotel Rural San Miguel is a bit of a misnomer. San Miguel de Abona was once a little rural village, now it is really more of a small town. Nevertheless, if you book at Hotel Rural you are in for a treat. Starting with the buildings themselves, which were lovingly restored in 1995 in Traditional Canarian Townhouse / Finca style. Then the beauty of the garden with its trees and birds and the peaceful sounds of dribbling water features. Then the unbelievable underground cistern which the owners have turned into a Thermal Bath (think cosy Roman style mosaic tiled jacuzzi that can seat 20). Then the wonderful solarium roof terrace, sauna and another jacuzzi. Topping all of this off is the absolutely spectacular 180degree panoramic view down to the coast and beyond. Add in charming rooms with very comfortable beds, and no noisy children (it's Adults only here) and you have a 6 star experience in every dimension. It is really hard to leave!

Room Tip: Some of the ground floor rooms in the main house appear to have a slightly fousty smell coming...

Only a small hotel, this is a true gem of a find. The owners Pepe and Frauke couldn't be more lovely. All staff are super friendly. Quality of the food is fabulous. Nothing is too much trouble. Its very peaceful. Lovely sunbeds next to the pool with drinks service. The views are amazing. We got a taxi to Ibiza town approx 20mins and also to the Hippy market on Saturday. Again about a 20min drive. You can't go far in Ibiza. It was only a short trip bit I can't wait to back. Thank you

I did enjoy some of my stay here but it is has strict rules, almost regimental. I asked to change my room because I was inside the building in a locked building. I had a key but couldn't get out. Also the bathroom smelt of dirty drains. The rooms are beautiful, the bathrooms need updating. The bed is so big and comfy. The cook and the cleaner were very friendly. Breakfast was delicious. Julio was helpful. The heated spa is very relaxing. The coffee machine in the bar is not very good, so if you need a coffee when you wake up, you will be disappointed. Coffee is served with breakfast at 8.00am. Beds and towels are changed on a daily basis unless you put the sign up. I wasn't allowed to stay on. I had a late flight at 10.00pm. I had to check out at 11.00am. I did offer to pay the additional cost but was just told it was not possible. No explanation was offered. Overall it was a pleasant experience, would recommend a short stay if you like to be free. I stayed for ten nights.

Spent 2 nights in this lovely quiet hotel with lots of personality , at the start of a walking holiday in Tenerife . Loved the room we had which was the former stable. Enjoyed reading about the restoration of the mansion in the bar . Staff were friendly and helpful . Breakfast only, but the restaurant across the road was excellent for evening meals . Loved the underground thermal pool which was fab . We had the roof solarium to ourselves for a sunbathe . Quirky and authentic . A real find for the discerning traveller .

We stayed in this haven of tranquillity for two nights and had a very peaceful and relaxing time. The hotel is tucked away down a quiet street and our taxi driver had great difficulty in finding it. If you want the uniformity of a large chain hotel then don’t come here but if you like to stay in a charming old property then this is the place for you. The rooms are large and well equipped and contain items of traditional old furniture. Our bathroom had a large shower with plenty of hot water. Breakfast is taken in the terrace garden on warm days and there is a good selection of food. The hotel does not have a restaurant but we were recommended two within a couple of minutes’ walk which were excellent. Several of the staff speak English and can offer suggestions for places to visit, local walks and restaurants. A very enjoyable stay

Beautiful place. Renovated to look very old and rustic. Lovely furniture and decor. Close to a couple of brilliant restaurants. I don't think the staff speak brilliant English but I didn't really speak English to them. San Miguel is run down; miserable and strangely threatening as a town so please please take a car to escape ;')

We stayed for a week in this rustic and beautifully quiet hotel. The room was spacious but basic as was the bathroom. It has a charm of its own and if you want all mod cons, hoards at breakfast time, noisy kids running amok and super fast wifi, this isn't the place for you. If all you want is to sit on the upper sun deck and read a good book in peace and quiet then come here. Or you can use the sauna, solarium, jacuzzi or spa pool which is under the pretty garden. Marco, one of only the two staff we saw all week, is very welcoming and gives some good advice on places to go to eat locally and to visit. He is very helpful and a credit to the hotel. Just don't arrive before 14:00 as that is when his shift starts ! Maria, the lady who does the breakfast is very nice and pleasant also but doesn't speak any English. The continental breakfast isn't huge in variation but adequate. Their quiet season is between April and September. But whenever you visit you will need a car as the bus service is a bit hit and miss.

Hotel quality and service was absolutely without any critics. Unique quietness. Furthermore, the accommodating behavior of the hotel management in rather rarely occurring problems must be highlighted. Well done!
