Tripadvisor gives a Travelers’ Choice award to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews from travelers and are ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor.
Accomodation is offered in what used to be the former houses of the workers of the banana plantation “Punta del Lomo”, built more than one hundred years ago, but completely adapted to modern times. It is possible to stay in magnificient “Casas de Piedra” as well as to celebrate any type of festivity like company events or any kind of family celebration. It is also possible to visit the area of the plantation itself, where our visitors are able to get to know everything related to the agricultural activities of a plantation.-

Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
The town of Guargacho offers very little to attract tourists and appears to grown over the years to support workers living in the area who work on the banana plantations. The Main Street itself has a number of closed down shops, a number of bars frequented by locals playing cards along with a number of single unit car repair shops most of which have damaged or broken cars parked outside. When we eventually found cases de piedra we found the entrance to be a big wood door on tracks and initially thought we had been “done”.
However once the door opened we ventured inside to a car park adjacent to the banana plantation. Once we parked up we walked through another doorway onto a palm tree lined boulevard with the houses of different sizes running up both sides. The houses themselves have a very rustic feel to them both inside and out and offer spacious accommodation. We had a one bedroom house which included an outside seating area at the front with a table and chairs in front of that. The rear of the property had an enclosed back yard which led to your own steps going up to a full house size roof solarium with a couple of sun beds. The entire place was clean, quiet and well respected by all people staying there. The pool was heated and of a decent size, if you chose your times you could have the pool all to yourself. This is an oasis in the middle of nowhere.....please note nowhere means you do need to have a car to get around to other places.
Whilst giving 5 out of 5 I could recommend a few minor improvements.
1) let people have directions as to how to find the place ( the map was very poor) 2) leave some info in the houses as to where local restaurants can be found ( not many) 3) leave information in the houses as to where the bins are 4) leave information in the houses as to when and how the banana plantation can be accessed (well worth doing)

A beautiful place to stay with your family. The houses are a mix of rustic/modern, but with a very comfortable lay-out and eveything is really clean. The house-keeping people were fantastic and make you feel welcome right away. Only one point of feedback: airconditioning would make this accomodation perfect in my opinion… 28 degrees Celcius with a humidity of 82% is not very comfortable. Luckily the bedrooms stay cool enough to sleep well at night.

Two adults, one teenager. We all adored Casas de Piedra. It was very peaceful. Our house was gorgeous and beautifully furnished with traditional wooden furniture. Self catering - we had all we required for basic cooking/snacks. It was comfortable when we were there but we spent most of our time outside - either in or around the pool. The plantation was lovely to walk around and we found countless other exotic plants within the grounds of the houses. There is an excellent local bus service that we were encouraged to use by friends. Galletas is a great little harbour town 15 mins by bus down the road (en route to Los Cristianos). In Guaracho there are some great tapas bars and restaurants. Parador (great tapas) a big supermarket and the Mexican restaurant just down the hill and the local shop, fab butcher and a pizzaria serving really good food up the hill. The excellent restaurant, el Cordoran on the edge of Guarachos is disadvantaged by its location unless reached by car. We walked along the roadside track which was terrifying in daylight. After serving us some amazing food the waiters realised how worried I was about the return journey - it was dark by then - and instead of calling us a taxi one of them drove us home.Friendly plantation cats and parrots a pleasant surprise. Really, all good.

A very charming small resort, located in the middle of a banana plantation. Very well kept property with friendly staff, feels very quiet and secluded. Beautiful private patios, simple but very nice pool area in a very relaxing setting. There is an outdoor BBQ area available just outside the gates if you want to cook on your own. Rooms are simple, but have everything that you may need.
While it's located a bit far from the beach (about 3 km), I felt location was perfect if you have a car and can get to all the main destinations within 10-20 mins. If you are arriving late or early in the morning - contact resort staff ahead of time as the farm gates are usually kept closed.

We had a wonderful time at this peaceful place. Berta was so nice, delightful and welcomed us warmly. This is a fantastic place to stay when you are looking for quality, peace and relaxing away from busy beach life

Perfect in every way. My husband, toddlers, parents and I shared a three bed villa here for a week and it was a panacea. The three bed house had a downstairs solarium off one of the bedrooms which suited my father (a pipe smoker) perfectly. He could have his breakfast in peace without being hassled by the rest of us about the smoke. This still left a large outdoor dining area and seating area with plenty of shade. The Finca has beautiful surroundings, really tastefully set up and a well equipped house. The pool was properly heated and very pleasant especially for January. Several locked gates make safe for the kids and for once I actually got to lie by the pool and relax, without feeling I had to obsessively watch their every move! The location makes it easy to tour about and only a very short stop to the airport. Am planning a return visit for next winter and bringing the whole family! Highly recommend it, an idyllic retreat!

The Hotel Casas de Piedra was just what we were looking for: a beautiful and quiet oasis for stressless holidays. After the first confusion (closed gate, nobody at the reception) we realised it was just because there was basicly one person taking care of everything. Our bungalow was huge and nicely furnished (although a bit dark and cold) and there was a private sun terrace on the roof. The pool side and common living room (with wifi connection working most of the time) were beautiful, the warmed pool and hot jacuzzi were lovely in the winter and the banana gardens were gorgeous! I would recommend this for families and couples but not for party animals.

Pass through the heavy gate into peace and quiet! Well presented clean and spacious apartments in an amazing setting. Warm pool in delightful surroundings and as many bananas as you can eat! Not at all 'touristy' - the nearest bars are basic and very 'local' but this just added to the sense of being away from the central tourist areas. A short walk away is Restaurante El Cordero - a highly recommended meat fest!

Pretty much what other reviewers have said. Quiet. Relaxing. Lovely pool. Banana plantation amazing. Large Car Park. Laundry room with a washer & dryer free of charge to use. Some houses have dishwashers, not all. Towels changed twice weekly. Houses cleaned and bedding changed weekly. Need to take own pool towels. Walking distance to choices of small supermarkets and speciality shops, and bars. Couple of very good restaurants nearby (El Cordero and Rancho de Nino). Not a touristy area thank heavens. Need a car really. Planning on going back next January.

We chose this appointment from the great reviews on Trip Advisor and when we arrived...wow, the photos do not do it justice. You feel relaxed as soon as you enter the gates and we stayed in apartment Number 1, next to the internal gates into the plantation.
Accommodation is everything you could need including wi-fi. Everything was really clean and we received a lovely welcome from Nubi who couldn't be more helpful which puts you at ease.
The facilities are great, in particular the heated swimming pool which our kids lived in. The plantations are beautiful and worth a stroll around.
Only slight down side is that the workers in the plantation work overnight and several mornings at 5/6am they leave through the site making excessive noise not realising people are trying to sleep. Would be worth the owners looking into this.
A truly wonderful place.

"Om ni har barn som springer in och ut i/till poolen mkt kan det vara lämpligt att välja en lägenhet i närheten av poolen. Vill man vara ifred och slippa den biten finns det superfina rum/lägenheter INNE i själva bananplantagen där man garanterat är HELT fr sig själv.
Den här tiden på året var det väldigt kallt i huset på natten. Ta med fullt mysställ och tjocka tröjor till kvällen.... Jag sov i princip fullt påklädd"
