Booked a few days away cheap during Easter holidays
Laguna apartments were ideal for a base for what we wanted- yes they are dated but we did not go away to stay in the room. The balcony was huge with table chairs and sun loungers - there was microwave kettle hob etc if you want to cook but again we didn't use these as the apartments are near to bars restaurants the towels were changed 3 x in the 5 days we were there they were not the best quality a bit worn but clean and cleaner came in 3 x also . The shower was okay bit slow but warm whatever time of day we used this . The lighting is a bit poor so rooms a bit dark and no air con so can get warm
There are a lot of narrow paths / steps both front and back so not really suitable for those with walking difficulties and prams - but Puerto Rico is all steps and hills so these apartments were low down so not as many steps as the buildings higher up.
Check in was simple - we arrived about 7 pm and telephoned the number on the gate and they came within minutes and quick and easy check in and shown to our room given 3 keys on a bunch one for apartment and the others for the front and bad back gates of the property so as long as people closed the gates it was more secure.
Pool was lovely very quiet when we were there ( we were told the whole resort was quiet which apparently was really unusual for this time of year) but not sure how many it would fit if it was busy as there were only few chairs / beds around -
The resort is expensive as are other areas of the canaries some restaurants don't display prices and food can be cheap but the drinks are expensive -
There was a large angry birds play centre near the centre for younger children and the beach was good for swimming . We didn't take the children this time as only short break but may of struggled to occupy them unless you book all inclusive
There are lots of boat trips along the harbour we tried multi aquatic dolphins whale watching trip which was good and also MTV party boat
Hope this helps / feel free to ask questions be happy to help

We booked this apartment last minute and was a little worried as I struggle walking far but looking at the location on Google maps it shows that it was right next to a big resort and not far to walk to the beach, so we gave it a shot.
When we arrived the staff member (who your supposed to ring when you arrive) was already at the gate to great us. Christina lives on the complex and speaks little English but she was lovely and gave us our keys and directed us to our apartment. Yes the apartments are dated but who spends there time in there! It was clean and had all the essentials so cannot complain.
Lots to do near by, mini golf, bars, resturant, port, large play area and of course the beach!
The reason I have not rated this 5 stars was because there is no air conditioning, so we slept with our doors open. We went April and wasn't overly hot at night but can imagine it would be peak summer.
I did not struggle walking, there is not many steps but I could imagine some would struggle but gran canaria is very up and down and couldn't imagine you could get better than Laguna apartments location.
We will be defiantly be going back!

We have just returned from a week staying at The Laguna apartments,On arrival we needed to ring the owner for access as it is kept locked for safety however he arrives in less than 5 minutes! He then took us to our apartment and told us if we had any problems to ring him. It is very basic accommadation but has a fantastic balcony area with seating and sunbeds and an area that provides shade throughout the day - much apprieciated in the heat! The apartment was cleaned every other day with fresh towels provided which was unexpected for 1* accommadation. The beds were comfortable and hangers were provided in the wardrobe. The inside living area was spacious with a sofa bed and chair, there was also a pay to view t.v. - but not used as we don't go on holiday to watch television. The kitchen area is small and very basic 2 electric rings and a microwave, the fridge was clean and worked well. No kettle is provided however it is easy to use a saucepan to heat water if required! The Shower was powerful and easily controlled hot to cold and hot water was always available. During our stay we found no evidence of insects/ cockroaches in the apartment or on the balcony area. The pool and surrounding area was cleaned every morning by the owner who we met on several occasions although the seating and sunbeds could do with being replaced as they are looking tired and some shade provision would have been good. These apartments are in a fantastic location close to the main shopping area, restaurants and bars especially The Pub which can be seen from the room, although no noise can be heard at night! To reach all this it does mean walking down and back up 72 steps! But it is the same wherever you stay in Puerto Rico. Our flight home was in the evening and the owner allowed us to keep the apartment until required for 25 Euros. The only other thing that would have been good would have been the provision of fans as it is very hot at night, but these can be rented or bought from several of the shops very cheaply! Overall it was excellent BUDGET accommadation and we will be returning with more members of our family in the near future.

When going to puerto rico do not stay in the laguna apartments!!!!

When arriving we was told nothing.. Just got handed the keys and was told where the room was.. The duration of our holiday we never saw the owner of the apartments at all!!! No one was ever at the reception. We had many problems from day 1! Cockroaches everywhere and they where massive!! We had to go buy cockroach spray which costed a bomb! No air con in all rooms. Shower broken, dirty fridge, no sun beds, broken beds, same sheets and towels all week, pool was swamped with bugs. I would advice no one to stay at the laguna apartments! The only thing we enjoyed from this exsperience was meeting a couple from next door they had the same problem and would never go back either!

This hotel is a good trade off between price and quality. We stayed for 5 days in this hotel, in a quite big apartment with a big terrace. They changed our towels 3 times in 5 days but they didn't change our bedsheets. I suggest this hotel for people that want a nice place to spend their holidays but not for people that need a luxury apartment!

Stayed in room 901 next to reception... or Pepe the reclusive receptionists (pee) location..caught him urinating on wall at 1am one morning right outside our balcony...nice gesture...not !!! + points is proximity of apartments to centre and a large balcony and that's about it. Rooms very dated and in dire need of modernisation. Beds were so uncomfortable and sheets not changed the whole week we were there. Lights in bedroom bulbs were blown and hanging off wall. Living room very basic with a very dated coin operated tv...8 channels either in Spanish or German. Toilet walk in shower with shower head spraying all directions !.Towels must have been the original ones that opened the complex !! Kitchen same very dated, kettle and toaster shared only socket in that area. There was an old 2 ringed hob which we never used but the small ants seemed to live around there and seen running about constantly. Fridge worked but freezer part was built up with so much ice it was hard to put anything inside it. Pool was large and for most of week had to ourselves but when one of the local stray cats decided to drop a poo in the pool, that was that. All in all you get what you pay for but at least you would think they would update the very old and tired place...definetly won't be going back there

After stopping in the terrazamar across the road a few times and it been fully booked!!!we know that these apartments are in a good location! Near pubs and restaurants, baconcys are big and clean with 2 sunbeds on.rooms are clean and maids come everyday, also pool is cleaned every morning. The noise from pubs at night is not too bad like some reviews say! In fact for price difference these are better than terrazzmar and have we have booked to come back here again

I'm unsure if you can hire fans but as there was nobody ever there I'd say you have little chance, you can buy one for €20 from the shops down the road, and no parasols.
