We booked a superior room that was in the main villa up one flight of stairs and was an elegant room. Check in was brief and to the point, a bit impersonal and rushed. Parking is a ways from the villa however you can drop luggage off fairly close to the front door. There is no assistance with luggage. The villa is beautiful and charming. Public rooms including the dining room are inviting, warm and comfortable. Our room was everything you could ask for in a villa in Tuscany. Unfortunately, the floor of the room is bowing or sagging and the two single beds followed the sagging floor making an uncomfortable bed and not the greatest sleep while visiting. However, this may not bother others. Two luggage racks were provided, the A/C worked well and there was plenty of hot water for showers.
The owners are caring, friendly, welcoming and dine right alongside their guests in the evening in the dining room. The dining room is made up of tables of two or however large your party is. Dinner is fantastic – it is a wow moment! The antipasti assortment is incredible (buffet style). This is followed by a pasta, entrée and dessert served while seated and they were wonderful night after night. Wine was offered at reasonable price points. Bottled water was in addition to the half board rate which I would think water would be included. Breakfast on the other hand was disappointing.

Dear flymeaway2, thank you for having taken the time to write down your review stating what your like and disliked abou your stay. Let me make a couple of comments on your well accepted remarks: parking lot pertains to the hotel and is 100 metres away from the Reception, not a long way specially if - as you say- you can drive up to the Recepion to unload your bags. A person is available at check-in hours to carry the luggage, but after check-in time he is replaced by maids who need to be summoned in case a Guest needs help. Yes, our Villa is quite old and one of the room floors is a bit ondulated. No one has complainedabout this until now. Thank you for telling me : I'll definitely have the beds checked for horizontality and - if needed- corrected! (Thank you!). I am distressed by what you are saying about breakfast: cereals, juices, milk. yoghurt, cheese, bread, rolls, house made cakes, soft boiled eggs hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, ham, salami, frsh fruit, canned ruit, jams, honey, american coffee, espresso, cappuccino, .... frankly I do not know what to offer more to make you happy. If you read my answer please write me and I'll have it ready for you next time you come. Thank you again and I hope to have a can ce to welcome you soon again. Corso Aloisi de Larderel

Definitely worth coming back, a beautiful villa located in the heart of Chianti.
Rooms are well kept and beautfiully decorated by Lady Maria Bianca, mostly her private collection, collected from around the world. If you have time, grab a book at the reception and read more about her and her life at Villa Le Barone.
So much to explore within the property, whether sipping a glass of locally produced Chianti Classical at the patio, or grab a book to unwind at the library, a quick dip at the sizable pool with a scenic view, sunset watching, perhaps the best sunset i ever seen in Europe. We never dined there but the breakfast was good, classic Continental style.
What I enjoyed the most was the serenity within the property, don’t get me wrong, the bookings seems to be full at all time but the overall atmosphere felt like being at a friend’s villa, intimate and personal.

Dear garytankf, I wish I had your capability of capturing so many concepts in such a small number of words! I believe that in your stay you got the most out of Villa le Barone and mainly the feeling of serenity which is the synthesis of the several pleasant inputs you received from watching a beautiful sunset, enjoying the decoration of the rooms, sipping a glass of Chianti classico, reading a bit from Maria Bianca's eperiences in managing her farm, .... In managing Villa le Barone , my wife and i have been trying to write a message of well being to our Guests and when one of them reads it as well as you did ... this is our reward. We look forward to hosting you again even thpugh Shangai is a bit far away. Sincerely, Corso Aloisi de Larderel

I had the most wonderful time at Villa Le Barone and highly recommend it for a memorable, authentic Tuscan experience. I recommend staying on the half board basis so you can enjoy the lovely food, especially the dinner which was candlelit, atmospheric, and delicious. For dessert, I loved the ice cream! The staff and service are impeccable. Paolo at reception was helpful and charming, allowing me to borrow books before purchasing them; Julia the head waitress was the absolute best, so meticulous and gracious; Francesca was extremely helpful in ironing my clothes for dinner. Staying here, you really feel like you’re part of a family in a very special ancestral home. I had the pleasure of meeting Corso and Jaquelin and cherish my time talking with them. The trees, the umbrellas, the green leaves, the moon in the daytime, the green hills, the bees, the lovely bedding, opening the door onto the warm Tuscan morning: I am so glad I got to be ensconced in this romantic world.

Dear MichalsT6037DH, your review (thank you for writing it!) makes me think of a Chinese tale I read: a peasant is relaxing under an oak tree gazing at an old shack nearby. A tail wagging dog enters the shack and after a short time exits it with a blissful look and wagging its tail even more. After a while a menacing second dog enters the shack and then growlings, heavy barking, and bumping on the wall sounds come out of the shacks until th snarling dog comes out of the shack running and barking with its hair on end. After a while the curious peasant enters the shack to see what it was all about and discovers that the shack is full of mirrors. The happy dog was seeing happy reflected tail wagging friends while the unhappy dog was seeing a menacing horde of enemies! Please pardon the reference to dogs, but your happy, beauty seeking attitude was possibly rewardd in Villa le Barone by the beauty of the environment, the gentleness of our staff and a serene dinner lit by candles and the moon. Thank God we have very few people of the other kind! We look very much forward to hosting you again sometime soon, Corso Aloisi de Larderel

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Le Barone. This charming accommodation is set amongst absolutely beautiful views of the Tuscan countryside. Our room was well-appointed, with the perfect combination of historical character and modern conveniences (like a very comfortable bed and a sparkling bathroom with heated tile floors). The daily included breakfast had a wide range of choices, including eggs, bacon, fruit, meats, cheeses, pastries, juices and all varieties of coffee. We had dinner at the restaurant on the first night of our stay, a very nice multi-course event that was true to the local cuisine. We especially enjoyed meeting the owners, who greeted us every day and offered suggestions for excursions in the area. Overall just a wonderful choice for a stay in Tuscany!

Villa Le Barone very much exceeded our expectations! Sitting high above the region, your views are vineyards for as far as the eyes can see!
The owners live on the estate and make the guests feel at home! Large lounge areas outside are beautifully landscaped, outside/inside dining areas provide safe distancing and elegance, beautiful swimming pool, and comfortable living/lounge areas inside.
Free parking on property onsite just one minute walk from check-in. Service, food, and wine were exceptional.
While there are probably plenty of great choices, we will staying at the Villa Le Barone on each of our trips to Chianti. Looking forward to our return trip!

This is our second time back to Le Barone and it is as beautiful as I remember it. It is a very old
Villa perched on a hillside in Chianti with a view of a chapel and rolling vineyards! We love to relax by the infinity pool and listen to the church bells ring every half an hour. The breakfast, lunch snacks and dinners are delicious. There are so many places to sit and drink wine-the patio out front is our favorite or the outdoor dining area. The owners and staff are lovely and knowledgeable and always inquiring if there is anything they can do for us. Nothing-this place is magical and perfect just as it is!

Dear 347sherryl, you are using the same adjective that several of our Guests use to describe Villa le barone. magical! I would describe it as an old family tuscan Villa set in a beautuful environment made of hills, vineyards, forest, olive groves and picturesque roads winding thrugh them. The sound of a church bell, the chanting of a bird, the going back and forth of our staff just give the imprssion of serenity, a rare commodity that we all need! Thank you for having taken th time to review Villa le Barone and for your high marks. We look very much forward to host you once again .... and many more times. Sincerely, Corso Aloisi de Larderel

To describe Villa Le Barone as a ”hotel’ fails to do it justice. The atmosphere provided by the wonderful owners and their fantastic staff makes it a superb place to stay. It is no exaggeration to say it feels like being a guest of friends at an idyllic country house. It makes the perfect base from which to explore the Tuscan countryside and visit its artistic treasures.
Every detail is magical - from the welcoming flowers waiting in the room to the delicious breakfasts, light lunches and dinner in the dining room. Not forgetting the excellent, well chosen wine list. This is a place to return to and we certainly plan to be back next year. Thank you so much to all of you at Villa Le Barone.

Dear H9696KBjuliam, thank you fo having come to visit Chianti and for having chosen Villa le Barone. Yes, we are definitely not a hotel, but an old family home open to friends ... but it takes people like you to get this feeling and like it. Our staff has been with us a long time and enjoys making people happy and fulfilling their wishes. Sorry that - because of Covid prevention rules- you could not enjoy our self service buffets both at dinner and breakfast times and we hope that 2022 will be a more favourable year during which you are hopefully going to be even more pleased by yor stay with us. My husband and I recently stayed for 3 nights at Villa Le Barone and we found this place to be truly magical. Upon arrival we were greeted by the owners of the property and given a tour of the grounds. It was the perfect location to use as a home base for exploring Tuscany and enjoying the Chianti region. The breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed 2 dinners on the property as well. It was an easy 20 minute walk to the town on Panzano where there are charming stores and entoecas to enjoy as well. The highlight for us was coming back after a long hot day to the beautiful pool where we enjoyed a cocktail from the "honor bar" and listened to the birds chirping and the church bells ringing. If you are looking for an idyllic Tuscan getaway, look no further!

Dear Tourist794522, my wife and I do not spend our life at the Reception of Villa le Barone waiting for Guests to welcome, but nontheless love greeting and sharing with them what we know about Chianti and Tuscany in order to help them make the most out of their trip to our place. (but all people are not like you! ... last night , to my wife greeting a Guest, this person just grumbled back at her:"Where is the elevator?", then reserved a table for four at dinner, then did not show up .... it takes all kinds!). This is why we are very happy when we meet a Guest like you, enjoying what Villa le Barone, Chianti and Tuscany have to offer ... there is probably a lot more for you to discover around our place and we hope to hav the chanc to host you again. My wife and I have been visiting Tuscany for over 30 years and have stayed at numerous hotels over that time.
The Villa Le Barone remains the benchmark against which the rest are measured.
The beauty of the buildings, the perfection of the setting but above all the calm, friendly efficiency of staff that do not appear to be following a staff training ritual but just know how to help their guests enjoy the paradise that is this part of Italy.
All gently guided by the wonderful owners of the property who dine and mingle with their guests as if hosting friends for the weekend.
Great classic Tuscan cuisine, ideal location, lovely new pool, endless views and not a TV in site, bliss.

Dear 613philipk, there is a saying in French that "culture is what remains after one has forotten everything else" ... maybe at Le Barone, Staff and Owners, after 45 years of experience, have now forgotten everyhing about Hotel business and just practice the art of friendly welcomimg and hosting friends. We are glad you enjoyed your stay in spite of the fact that service and amenities have had to be reduced because of Covid: no fresh flower bouquets inside the Villa, no access to the book librairies, no self service buffet ... we long for next year when hopefully we shall be able to host you again in full shape. Thank you for having taken th time to write a review on us. Sincerely, Corso and Jacqueline Aloisi de Lrderel

Truly a home away from home in the Chianti countryside. We spent 3 nights here in June 2022 and loved it. We were welcomed by the owners on arrival, and could not have been better looked after. The grounds are delightful, the rooms are comfortable, the staff are so helpful and charming, and the food was excellent. We truly felt like personal guests in a lovely country house.
Our room had no view, but the bed was comfortable, there was plenty of space, the AC worked great, and the plumbing is modern. The surrounding countryside is breathtaking. And a big shout out to the kitchen staff who delivered a great breakfast and amazing dinners. Two particular delights: the dinner portions are modest, but if you love it you can ask for seconds; and there is a well stocked bar run on the honor system where you can help yourself and sign for your drinks.

Dear JohnMat, Many thanks for having chosen Villa le Barone for your holidays. I can’ help -after more than twenty years managing Villa le Barone- looking a Guests- and having a first impression and – you looking so sophisticated- I was afraid you would not be happy in our somewhat casual, “make yourself at home culture”, but apparently you quickly got into the game and felt in the home away from home most people like. Thank you! I am glad you noticed that restaurant portions are moderate in size; this is done on purpose and not out of stinginess … I personally hate waste, specially food waste, and am mad when I see some Guests helping themselves to platefuls from the antipasto and breakfast buffets, taking a couple of mouthfuls here and there, and then leaving the remaining food go to the bin. It’s a matter of education and elegance! As you said, if you specially like a dish, ask for a second or third helping … we will feel gratified that you like our food and serve it with great pride and pleasure! We look forward to serve you hopefully soon a second helping of Villa le Barone this time in a “room with a view”. Sincerely, Corso Aloisi de Larderel

definitely yes! Sorry, i had not seen this question before tiday!
Yes! And with a key too.
Villa Le Barone was truly amazing. We loved everything about it - by far my favorite stay in Italy over the past 8 years.
Dear erikanico,
Villa le Barone and Panzano (the small town 1 mile away) are in the middle of the Chianti Classico wineries and - on arrival- our Reception will be happy to arrange several visits and wine tastings to surrounding wineries. Castello di Verrazzano is one of them, as well as Molino di Grace, Castello di Fonterutoli, Castello di Brolio .... and maaaaaaaaaaaany maaaaaaaaaaany more! As for restaurants there are also many good ones: the one I prefer is the restaurant of Villa le Barone itself :=))) very local recipes made with the best locally sourced bio products and an excellent wine chart with abundant food and a competitive price, but if you want to go outside I would suggest "Ristoro di Lamole", "La Piazza", "Enoteca Sassolini", .... which we can also help you to reserve upon arrival. We look forward to welcome you at Villa le Barone and remain at your disposition to answer any further questions you might have. Sincerely, Corso Aloisi de Larderel
Dear eerickso,
thank you for asking and thank you for giving me the opportunity to answer.
Some people have bought food from outside Villa le Barone (we have a restaurant to serve snacks, lunch and dinner) and improvised picnics around our pool and public areas (greasy papers, plastic glasses on the grass, ... ) not a good idea and we explained to them the reasons of our disapproval of such a behavior.
Some people that do not want to dine bring back a sandwich and a bottle of wine and eat it in their rooms ... we are fine with that as long as they do not leave the room in a mess.
Others sometimes bring a bottle of wine bought outside and want to drink it in the restaurant ... as many restaurants we have set a corking fee which our Guests seem to understand.
We have cooks, kitchen staff and maids to give you topnotch service ... and for which we pay ... if Guests bring food and beverages from the outside we might as well let then go, but then ....
Thank you for having asked the question. I hope to meet you at Villa le Barone.
Sincerely,
Corso Aloisi de Larderel (owner)
