We stayed for a week at the beginning of September, having spent weeks dithering over which hotel to book! It was a fantastic holiday and we didn't want to leave.

Imerovigli is an excellent location with gorgeous views over the caldera, volcano and both the north and south of the island.

I believe all of the rooms at Alexander Villas have good views, we stayed in a suite (room 7) which had a large private terrace with its own jacuzzi, sunbeds, parasol, table and chairs and other seating which really gave it the wow factor as the view isn't obstructed by any other rooms. We had a pretty church right next to us on one side which meant we saw a lot of weddings go past! The only thing spoiling the view is a power cable with a pole right in front of the terrace, but I was aware of this from previous reviews here so it wasn't a shock and wasn't a problem. Breakfast was served on the terrace every morning which was lovely.

Worth bearing in mind you don't get the most impressive view of the sunset directly from the room, but if you go to La Maison restaurant (just a couple of minutes along the cliff top path towards Fira) you get a fantastic view, and there is also another great vantage point from an old church literally just round the corner from the villas.

The main pool for the villa can be seen from the terrace, you have to go up and down a few sets of stairs to get to it but its worth it - its not heated though so best saved for cooling down after a walk to Fira! You can also use the pool at the sister hotel Kallisto (where you also check in and check out) which we did, it was a bit larger than the dipping pool at the villas, again unheated but lovely peaceful pool.

The rooms were a little bit tired (couple of loose tiles in the bathroom for example) but still looked fine. The bedroom was large and airy with a huge comfy bed, great views, aircon and plenty of storage for clothes. We had a basic kitchenette in a little cave room which had a very useful proper fridge rather than a minibar, and further little cave rooms for the toilet and shower - basic, but perfectly fine. Santorini is a very expensive place if you are going to go for a caldera view location so having the seen the cost of some of the other places nearby this is actually pretty good value!

The staff were all very attentive and any problems remedied very quickly. We found the wifi was weak in the room but fine out on our terrace.

Overall we had a great time and for our budget were very pleased with the villas, would definitely consider a return visit.

The hotel is located in a nice place, just 20min walk from Fira, the island's capital. We stayed in the Caldera Mare Suite with a private jacuzzi and it was definitely the best option! It has a STUNNING view! The breakfast is served everyday at the time you wish in your room. It could be a bit different everyday just to don't make it boring but it was ok!
The towels were changed everyday which is nice but the room was not deep cleaned.
The staff at the reception (Petros) is very helpful! He helped us a lot during our stay and gave us good tips!
Although we went on low season, it is a very worthseeing island! You can see all of it in just 3 days and Imerovigli is a good place to stay if you do not want to be in the middle of the crowded summer in Fira.

Overall, we had an amazing stay!

This was an interesting stay. We were in the master suite which has an upstairs loft where my two daughters slept. This is a cave room and I haven't ever stayed in one so I don't have anything to compare it to. The best party of the room is the terrace, plunge pool and view. Those are five star and outstanding. The downside is that the bathroom is in the very back of the cave and is frankly a little damp and musty. A little mildew shows through the pretty blue paint. This wasn't too big a deal to us, just a little strange. Similarly, this hotel is actually run out of the adjoining hotel so there isn't much interaction. For instance, our room included breakfast but after the first day, no one brought a new order form. This hotel is also really hard to find. We had to call and have someone come out and find us. There is no sign visible from the street, nor is there any designated parking which matters if you have a rental car as we did.

Walking to restaurants and shopping is along a stone path and takes ten to twenty minutes, up and down some hills and steps, depending on which restaurant you are looking for. We enjoyed the walk but for someone older, this could be an issue.

We would stay here again, the terrace and view made it all worthwhile.

The driver Costas who met us at the airport was so friendly. Petros the owner met up with us and carried our luggage to our room. We had a little patio with table and chairs with hot tub. The view was spectacular and having breakfast delivered every morning was a delight. Axis who delivered our breakfast was quiet but friendly.
When we arrived we had bubbly in the fridge, water and fresh fruit. Petros was so helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. Made a few great recommendations for dinner. Was always available for questions and information. Very friendly.
The room was cleaned daily and always had a wonderful smell. The cleaner (I’m so sorry I’ve forgotten her name) was cheerful and friendly.
We booked this trip last minute from Italy and we were so glad we did. This island is beautiful and we could never get tired of our view. Loved our visit. Would definitely recommend.

We had an amazing stay at Alexander Villas. The host Petros is just awesome. He looked after every detail, ensuring everything was perfect with our breakfast and stay. Petros is a wonderful genuine guy who really helped make our stay perfect. The owners should be very proud of him. The cleaning staff were all so smiley and friendly and all work extremely hard. The view of the Caldera.. (Wow!) is the Best on the island! And best location for exploring all the beautiful locations and attractions, restaurants & bars the island has to offer. Thank you Petros and to your Awesome staff, we can't wait to return next year!

A private balcony was advertised on the booking page for every room at Alexander Villas - this is not the case and the room we were staying in opened straight out onto the swimming pool. This meant for anything but a peaceful stay as we were woken up every morning by the staff cleaning the pool and poolside.
Facilities were old and often broken: e.g. shredded and broken sun umbrellas, ripped and tatty beach towels.
Breakfast on one particular day had run out so we were not given the breakfast we had ordered, despite putting in an order the previous day.
Poolside towels were not replaced on a daily basis.
Room was not clean on arrival and there were used contact lenses around the sink in the bathroom from previous occupants.
Bathroom was unhygienic with rusting drain in the shower and paint peeling off the walls.
Swimming pool was not clean and had a green scum line.
Dirty mattress covers on the sun beds.
Staff were slow to respond to queries.
The hotel made a mistake with our booking and had overbooked our first night. They therefore checked us into a hotel down the road which had no facilities and was half the price of Alexander Villas. We were still forced to pay the price for a night in Alexander Villas despite this.

Other than the view there is little positive about this hotel. The only + is the view, and there are plenty of other accommodation in Imerovigli where you can get that.

This hotel is overpriced, dirty and has poor facilities and management.

Be really carfulll!!!! This hotel is a fraud. We make a reservation for 4 nigthts and when we arrivied in Santorini, late at night, the concirge told us that the hotel is fully booked (like the flihgts) and they offers to us an "upgrade" (but i dont call this like this, it was relly a down grade), to another hotel. How they can sell something and doens't have? The answer is easy: the alexander hotel has beautiull pictures, that lots of people get interested and they sell more than they could suport and they offer a alternative staying ih another awfull hotel, trying to say this is an upgrade. We complain an so far they dind't give us the money back. I will sue this hotel. My name is: Guilherme von Muller Lessa Vergueiro

While the hotel is situated in one of the most beautiful villages in santorini- it was way overpriced and the website photos very misleading! Not all was bad, so i have broken it down:

THE GOOD: we did have a beautiful view from our room and a lovely plunge pool- (however, the luxury stopped there). The rooms were ok, but quite old-fashioned and dingy- as i said before, the website photos are VERY misleading, and make them seem far nicer and more modern that they actually are. Breakfast was nice and they deliver it to your room which is a nice touch.

THE BAD: there is no reception or any official entrance so we spent 20mins lugging our suitcases around the village in sweltering heat, trying to figure out where to go- no staff offered to help us at all (eventually we approached a barman and someone met us in the bar where we waited an hour for our room). Although i know this isn't such a terrible thing.

The worst thing about Alexander Villas was the massage. My partner and I decided to order a massage from the hotel- which was quite expensive but we were prepared to pay for the luxury. I would have to say this was the worst massage I have ever had in my life- it bordered or unprofessional and was excruciatingly painful (keeping in mind, I usually like firm, slightly painful massages- but this was ridiculous). The Masseuse set up the table in the middle of the public pool area- and while I asked her if I could have a private room, she told me there were none, which I thought was ok still. She then took my top off and got me to lie on my back (exposed to everyone sitting by the pool) and massaged my chest- telling me. 'its ok, no one is looking.' However, there were people looking and many people and barmen walking past. This made me feel extremely uncomfortable and seemed extremely unprofessional. In addition, the massage consisted of exfoliation- whereby she rubbed the exfoliant paste into my body so hard and for so long that any lubricant dried up and she was literally rubbing my skin raw with sand-like stuff. I was lying is absolute agony, my whole body burning, red and raw- i didn't say anything at the time because i felt shy and awkward- this woman clearly had no idea what she was doing and was NOT a proper masseuse. This was later confirmed by the fact that we saw her cleaning our pool the next day!

Overall, While the rooms were ok, they were very old-fashioned and far from luxurious. The service was average and most of the staff seemed not to know what they were doing (although we did have a lovely barman who served us drinks who was professional and knowledgeable) and of course, the massage service, which was not cheap, was diabolical. This would usually be acceptable, of course, given my partner and I often stay in hostels and cheap hotels- however, paying over 100euros per person, per night, seems very steep for the quality of room that is provided and the second-rate service.

Go find something better.

We booked one double room three weeks ago. And ensured booking by several e-mails. When we reached the hotel on July24, they cheated us with no rooms, and led us to another hotel. Finally we had to accept a worst room in that hotel. We are terribly disappointed the credit of this "Alexander Villa".
