The hotel has too many “no”. You have to be very attentive with this propriety. 1. The hotel has 2 proprieties - the main (where is the budha bar, pool, the rooms with caldera and sea view) - and the second (300 m from the main, without sea view, with a simple pool for all rooms from here, without umbrellas). So pay attention… 2. If you want to relax in the evening at the main propriety terrace (budha bar) you have to eat or drink here, although you will be directed to a poor table in the corner… omg 3. Leaving day. As usual we tooked lunch on the island and returned at the main property to wait 30 min. transfer taxi to the airport, they said that we can not stay on theirs territory because they have a wedding… just wait outside.. 4. the main pool at budha has great view BUT there aren’t umbrellas, sunbeds, i saw just 4 courageous people swimming and staying on the floor … What else? Very good breakfast, not diverse but tasty!! View!! Location, near is the best gelateria, rooms are clean. And of course the wind - strong wind here.

You have plenty of good options. La maltese should be your last option. They have worst ever hospitality, there is no phone in room to get service no blankets just just a thin bed sheet. The room they have provided is not the hotel. It’s a 50-80 mtr distance. Also we asked to change the room but reception ppl says it’s not possible and I have checked the online, bookings are available and rooms are there . They don’t serve dinner after kitchen has been closed and don’t provide any assistance to have dinner! I will not recommend this hotel to anyone

The rooms are not worthy of a five star hotel at all. They are old and dirty. Super small pool. Photos on site do not reflect reality. Parking cars just in front of the entrance of the room. Definitely not recommended.

It's a shame you can't rate the location and the house separately as my title says it all. We arrived and were shown to the villa later than our agreed check in time. Thankfully someone carried the cases for us as the house is up and down some very steep steps (but this is Santorini). We were given no details about breakfast etc and there were no information sheets in the house. Thankfully we could contact a member of staff via Whatsapp to ask. The house needs a makeover. Crockery was limited and some of what was there wasn't clean. Kitchen cupboard doors/drawers were screwed shut but had been forced open and one exposed a rather long screw; dangerous when you have a toddler with you. We were unable to self cater (basics like coffee etc) as there was no kettle in either house and no pan. Of course we ate out but with a young child having to obtain boiled water from the Bar area was not ideal (and quite a trek). There were no slippers and robes as promised (minor issue); we had no parasol and when we questioned this we were told it had been broken by the previous occupants; one was brought to us the next day but was not adequate for 4 adults and a child. The plunge pool bubbles did not work and it had a green slimey ring round the water level so we doubted the filter was working. Breakfast at the Bar was amazing; great choice and eat as much as you wanted. The Buddha Bar of an evening was nice, amazing views, cocktails quite pricey at 25 euros. Courtesy room given to us on our departure day was a life saver and really nice. For the charges this needs some TLC as it cost £1700 for 2 nights for 4 adults; that's luxury prices. The view is utterly amazing and this sells it.

We stayed in the La Maltese Private House for two nights. The view from the villa is sensational, better than we ever could have imagined. The villa as a whole needs some TLC, for example paint work, tidying the yard and the pathway, general maintenance. That being said, the villa inside was tidy and clean on arrival. However, the private pool didn’t work properly. The bubbles didn’t turn on and I don’t think the filter was working as there was green around the water rim and our swimwear turned green!! That was disappointing given the cost to stay for two nights. This was a private villa with a kitchen, we had a toddler and picked the villa thinking it would be easier with cooking etc. There was no kettle and limited crockery so it was impossible to cook for ourselves. Luckily there are a couple of eateries close by which we could access. Breakfast is served at the hotel, I can’t fault it. The staff at breakfast were so welcoming, there is so much choice and you eat with the beautiful view. We had an evening in the Buddha Bar which again I couldn’t fault. Cocktails are around 25 euros each which is pricey but it is worth it for the view and atmosphere. On the day we were leaving the staff went above and beyond to get us a room for the day until we departed later on. We were very grateful for this and there was no additional charge. Communication was great throughout, we had a Whats App with the manager who could answer any questions. I would absolutely recommend this place, I just think the villa could do with some TLC. The double room we had for the day we departed was beautiful, definitely recommend this it was spotless.

WOW WOW WOW!! La Maltese gave us everything we wanted. I visited La Maltese with my boyfriend for 6 nights in June, I was interested in the property after seeing the fantastic pictures on Expedia. We were absolutely mind-blown when we arrived. The sunset was the most beautiful and as the hotel is the highest of the caldera, it is quite possibly the best view on the island. Upon arrival and throughout the whole week, we were welcomed by Aggellos (manager) who helped us so much. He told us all about the history of the island and was available on WhatsApp for anything we needed (dinner recommendations, taxi service etc). His service, along with some of his colleagues was great. We ate at the hotel on the first night and they served us asian style sushi, noodles etc which was great. I booked a junior suite with hot tub, however, we were upgraded to a 2-bedroom suite with hot tub due to vacancy in the hotel. We were very pleased with this as we were given a huge room with a LOT of space which was great! The jacuzzi rooms are a must... jacuzzi in the morning or the evening is amazing and they are ready heated for you whenever you like. The hotel is in a great location, just near a road for access to taxis/bus but also just near a footpath which leads to many restaurants and the town of Thira. This is a beautiful walk around very traditional greek streets/homes. Restaurants were easy to come by without booking (although it is quite at the moment because of covid) and all the food was amazing! The only thing which could have been better was the breakfast hot selection in the mornings (maybe a written menu would be better and would show everything on offer). Aside from this we had an amazing stay and would recommend to anyone thinking of travelling to Santorini for the amazing sunset views....

Stunning views, delicious food and wine, and the staff was very friendly, taking lots of pictures for us. We ordered the gyozo of the day and the tori Kara age (marinated fried chicken dumplings) and they were both delicious with perfect sauces

Stayed 3 nights at the old , outdated facility of La Maltese Estate & Villa . First of all , if you drive a car , be sure to : use the COORDINATES , not address to get you there . The coordinates of the parking lot ( most important thing if you rent a car ) will take you perfectly to the right spot . Put in address using Google Maps , TomTom or Garmin will only take you to the basketball court # 100 yards below from the correct spot . Secondly : try not to get there AT NIGHT like I did . Driving without coordinates guiding at night in residential area of Thira is a nightmare . There are more than 60 steps to conquer , down and then up high , from the parking to our room . It's slippery and dangerous when it rains , to carry heavy luggages up to the room .We are very lucky to have Penn , the Estate keeper to help with all the luggages, especially we arrived at night . It's totally black , no street or house lights . Without flash lights there is no way we can walk , let alone carry our luggages . But once we arrived in our place , the caldera view from the terrace outside our room in early morning or specially at sunset is phenomenon . The sunset from that terrace is worth every penny of your trip . The facility is really outdated . Needs alot of repair : faucet has no hot water . we get hot water from the handheld shower in the jaccuzi . No standing shower . The mysterious metal clanking noises under the jacuzzi at night are scary !!

La Maltese was the perfect destination for our family, we booked the family villa to sleep 6. We had 2 seperate villas each with kitchen facilities. The villa was on 3 levels, the villas, the sun baking level and the the private pool. The walk into Thira was around 30 minutes but there were local buses to catch. There were a few eateries in the area also.
