Hotel staff and the views are the only reasons why I’m even giving this a star. The manager, Elena, is the worst manager I’ve ever encountered. Our flights were delayed a day and we exchanged emails to keep our prepaid upgraded rooms with private pools. When we arrived, she had given our rooms away and downgraded us. After discussing on the phone, she promised to refund us and now has completed ignored all emails and WhatsApp messages. I would not stay here ever again given how Elena has managed the place. She made our honeymoon extremely stressful and frustrating.
Traveling in the time of Covid is a challenge and traveling with a cane in this era is a bit much. Our charming host Eddie, was able to give us an easier access room. We had the best, newest room but it was 200 steps down. The hotel is built into the rock wall and our first room was actually under the swimming pool! The breakfast Eddie prepares is huge and delicious. He’s also our bartender! That’s what I call full service!
Eddie was our welcoming host. He was very accommodating and fun to spend time with in the spacious lounge, where he is both bartender and breakfast cook. Our room set at the edge of the sea with panoramic views of Santorini. A traditional, quaint Greek restaurant is only a short walk from the hotel, where we returned for dinner each night.
ELENA the manager charged me $1000 dollars for a room full of ALGAE and MOLD!!! HEALTH HAZARD!! As soon as I opened the door for my room there was a HORRIBLE odor, sewer like!! I realized it was coming from the bathroom but it was so strong it was in the entire room. We opened the door to air our the room for an hour in hopes of the smell decreasing and I also sprayed my perfume all over the room. after I decided to lay in bed and that’s when I realized the bed sheets had weird stains all over! We spoke to reception at that point regarding the smell and sheets and he came to the room. He said he will try to run water through the drains to try to make the smell better and brought new sheets. We left the room for him to “clean”. We came back around 9 or 10 pm and the room was still horrible smelling. It was so strong I honestly got a bad headache and the new sheets still had stains (just a different type) and the man said sorry we don’t have any rooms you can move to. Besides this the room is in horrible condition, the bathroom has mold in it, the shower head has algae, and the bed looks like a motel 6 bed. NOT SURE HOW MOLD AND ALGAE IS ACCEPTABLE IN A 4 STAR HOTEL?!! I paid $$$$1000$$$ FOR 3 Nights for a room with mold, ALGAE, and a SEWAGE SMELL!!!! At this point I decided to contact hotels.com to see if I can move to a different hotel, they said the manager of the hotel ELENA refuses to refund us and is charging us the full amount and does not care about us sleeping in a room that is a health hazard!!!! I ended up moving to a different hotel at 11PM just 2 minutes away that was an actual 4 star hotel for the same exact price. AGAIN , thank you ELENA, you are a true SCAM ARTIST!! I also have pics of everything!!…
Afroessa has a great terrace and pool but is otherwise a little unremarkable for a caldera view hotel. Rooms are ok with lovely views, but ours was directly on the caldera walk and was therefore rather noisy. Afroessa is a long hike to Fira, but that was a good thing in our book.
Afroessa has some of the best views on the island, in my opinion. The moment you walk in you are pretty blown away by the entrance views and they continue all the way down to the pool. We stayed in room one which was nice. It had a hot tub which sadly didn’t work until the last day but other than the pool bar being closed was our only complaint. Edi was great and looked after us during our time there. If you want something quiet and with stunning views we’d recommend this hotel. Also big shoutout to the cleaning staff there, they were so lovely!!!
We stayed in Afroessa Hotel this week, and we are extremely disappointed in the hotel management. We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, and one the 2nd day we were forced to switch rooms last minute because the management made a mistake with the booking. The manager was unfriendly and unaccommodating even though the error was the hotel’s fault. The pool and view is nice, but I would not recommend this hotel to friends or family due to the very poor hotel management.
To echo the reviews below, Afroessa hotel is a blissful, idyllic retreat with stunning views. But the most important thing for travellers to know right now is how safe and comfortable we felt at all times during our stay. Elena and Eddie were so welcoming and the breakfast picnic delivered to our balcony each morning was a wonderful touch. This is a truly special place and we cannot recommend it highly enough.
My husband and are more off the beaten path travelers looking for a more authentic experience and getting to know the locals and culture. I did a lot of research for this tip and we visited Milos and Folegandros before making our way to Santorini. I wanted to enjoy the beautiful views without all the crowds so we settled on Imroveligi and I am so happy we did. We really enjoyed this part of our trip so much. Loanna was so kind in helping us to plan our days and since we traveled in early may it was before peak season we got to spend time with her. On the last night of our trip she made a special vegan meal for me and went to the store and peraped the entire meal. I still talk about how special and memorable that was for me. She wanted me to get a taste of the way greeks make Vegan foods and it was absolutely delicious. I had been meaning to write this review for some time but couldn't find the name. I highly recommend Afroessa!!! I hope we will return next year!! We Traveled May 2015.…
My husband and I’s stay at Afroessa was amazing!!! I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a beautiful, relaxing, and romantic getaway in Santorini. I am so happy that we decided to stay in Imerovigli instead of Fira or Oia. It was a short and scenic walk to Fira. From Fira, you can take a bus to pretty much anywhere. The hotel was peaceful, and the views were absolutely breathtaking. Also, the staff was so helpful!!! I would stay here forever if I could!
