The staff at On the Rocks is second to none! Very attentive and responsive to all of our needs. The room was clean and bright with an ample mini-bar and complementary water every day. The view is incredible! Recommend that you only book here if you are in fairly good physical shape as climbing the steps from the lower rooms, and hotel bar, is quite strenuous.

We split our trip to Santorini and stayed in two different hotels for 3 nights each - 'On the Rocks' was the first. We had booked a double room with sea view and were surprised to be upgraded to a stunning cave style room with private terrace, sunbeds, table and chairs and our own jacuzzi. The unobstructed view across the Caldera was amazing, I loved seeing the hotels down the cliffside, watching the different ships come and go on a daily basis and we were lucky enough to see the sunset from our terrace too. You would never tire of that view!! Fira was a 25 minute walk through the town of Firostefani, which in itself was pretty with restaurants and bars. Breakfast was served on a tray on the terrace at your room (or by the pool if you prefer) and had a great selection to choose from. The hotel had a pool a couple of levels below us, but we didn't use it as we had our own jacuzzi. We didn't use the hotel bar/restaurant either , instead we chose to eat in Imerovigli , Fira and Firostefani. We loved every minute of staying at 'On the Rocks' - it's quirky, pretty unique and would definitely return given the chance.

Amazing amazing amazing! Really worth the visit the views are spectacular. Some staff need cheering up but others were so lovely! The reception staff arranged everything for us, taxis, suitcases to be taken up to the Main Street and quad bikes. Really enjoyed our stay, food was unreal and would love to visit again!

We traveled 10 hours on a plane to what we thought was advertised as a luxury hotel, but our room at $500 a night for 6 nights was anything but luxurious. The hotel overbooked and gave our ‘Caldera Suite without a hot tub’ to someone else. Instead, we received a hazardously damp basement room unfit to occupy which reeked of mold and chlorine, with a huge dirty hot tub with sand in it from the previous tenants, and a nonfunctioning humidifier full of water, contrary to the hotel’s claims of rigorous cleaning between tenants. Our socks and luggage were wet with humidity as was every surface in the room. The ceilings were hazardously low near the bathroom and luggage storage areas where we kept bumping our heads (I’m only 5’6”). There were two chairs and a table in the room facing an ugly wall instead of being outside on the balcony with a view of the Caldera as promised. The receptionist told us that a lot of people didn’t like that room and we had to change rooms 3 times in a 6 night stay due to maintenance issues including no hot water for showers, not well-maintained hot tubs which we didn’t want/nor use but were forced to deal with (we had to constantly empty the humidifiers, at least 6 times, sometimes in the middle of the night, and there was constant dripping sound which made it hard to sleep) and a power outage that left us in complete darkness. We stayed at 2 other hotels in Greece for 3 and 5 nights respectively with no accommodation problems or issues.

Response from Gerasimos Michalatos, General Manager at On The Rocks Santorini
Responded Oct 2, 2023
Dear Guest, Thank you very much for taking the time and writing your review about your experience with us. Our guests’ feedback is of foremost importance in our everlasting quest for service excellence. Let me assure you that providing a high level of service and the satisfaction of our guests is our priority. Hence, since we had the flexibility, we upgraded you to our Cave Suite with Indoor Hot Tub. Always, when we upgrade someone, we do it as a surprise with only purpose of providing the best possible experience. Since the hotel is a part of the traditional village of Imerovigli, this room, like the others, is constructed in accordance with local architectural and structural standards. Let me note that the room is equipped with dehumidifiers and ventilation systems, among other things, to maintain a comfortable environment. After your first night, you were reallocated to a different room. An expert investigated the hot tub and found that there was indeed an issue. Because of this, the water in the hot tub was heating up rapidly, which raised the humidity level in the room. Although the hot tub was given to you clean, the filters were destroyed due to the same problem, and a small amount of dust entered the water. Shortly after you left the room, the technician fixed the issue, and the hot tub is now functional. Let me mention as well, that none of the rooms where you stayed had problem with the shower hot water. Regarding the power outage in the new room, it occurred quite late in the evening and was not possible to be fixed immediately. We tried everything to overcome this situation, but that was impossible. We moved you to another available room to spend the night because we knew you were tired and didn't want to cause you any more inconvenience. The problem was resolved the following morning, and you were taken back to your accommodation. In conclusion, I want to highlight that the aforementioned events do not represent our hotel or the quality of services we would like to offer and since then they have been resolved. From first moment, we were above the problems trying to find solutions and accommodate you the best way. We truly regret if we fell below of your expectations in this regard. I would like to thank you for choosing us for your stay, for your feedback and we hope to welcome you back again in Santorini at some point in the future.

You are definitely paying for the views here and they are breathtaking! We had a deluxe sea view room which was small, but had a terrace overlooking the caldera. Our room had windows that opened to the sea. Stunning views from every window. The breakfast is plentiful. We ate on our terrace each morning. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. When we arrived in Santorini our luggage was not there. Upon arrival at the hotel, we asked for help in tracking our luggage. The reception person made a few calls, but otherwise offered no extra help or follow up. One bag arrived after a day and a half and the other never appeared. There were no offers of extra help, complimentary laundry service, or the like. Not even a toothbrush. We had nothing. Given that this was a luxury hotel with a high room rate, I had expected much more assistance and was quite disappointed. This hotel is a 20 minute walk to Fira and a cab ride to Oia.

We stayed for 5 days to start our honeymoon. It was absolute fantastic. The staff were so attentive and helpful, I can’t eat gluten and when I informed the hotel manager he took me very seriously. Every morning for breakfast I had plenty of safe and tasty options. Nothing was too much trouble, they helped us arrange to rent a car and had plenty of recommendations for restaurants and things to see and do around the island. The hotel was clean and well maintained,. The location was incredible with gorgeous views, it was a short walk down into Thira. It is up quite a steep hill so be prepared for the walk back up. We had an amazing time and will definitely be back.

Myself and my partner arrived late at night and shown to our room, we woke up to the most spectacular view from our balcony as our breakfast arrived. The hotel is simply brilliant . Great location, staff that can’t do enough for you and attention to detail is magnificent. The staff I have to say are first class, really attentive and helpful. My partner booked me a massage which was great. The breakfast you order online and it arrives freshly prepared at the time slot you choose. We stayed in room 26 which was a suite and it was cleaned daily, and a great sized room, this hotel ticked every now we wanted, my partner has wanted to go to Santorini for many years and she like myself was blown away with the hotel, staff and cleanliness of it all, over all brilliant hotel and location with people who really care that you have the best time, this hotel is a must so stop scrolling and go stay at On The Rocks.

The most amazing hotel ever! We arrived on 31/8 for 7 nights and blown away from moment we we arrived. The room was lovely and spotlessly clean, we arrived around midnight so didn’t appreciate the views until morning which were just out of this world! Sat appreciating these on our terrace with the most amazing breakfast! The reception staff, bar staff, cleaners, etc couldn’t do enough for us and nothing too much trouble. Everytime we saw a staff member we got a smile! Imerovigli is beautiful and perfect location, nice walk to Fira for a night out but back to stunning views and chilled days. Walk to Oia is stunning (and hard) but so worth it! Would have no hesitations in recommending On the rocks to anyone! Loved it!
