The hotel is nice enough but I would say stay in the main complex there are several add on buildings nearby....don't believe the photos there very well taken the sea and beach are a 10 minute walk away I wouldn't want to stay here in high season the pool and dining areas and bars will be manic if all the rooms are full and there nowhere near enough room by the pool for 600 rooms filled with guests.... And watch the "lifeguard"at the pool my wife put some sun tan oil on so she could sunbathe and he came running across shouting no baby oil in the pool even though we had no i intention of getting in the pool and if the kids have too much fun he starts blowing his whistle and stopping them playing and there's only about 30 people here so have no idea what he will be like when the place is full and if you don't like steps keep away there's hundreds of them

The main hotel apparently is well equipped and modern,,food excellent service excellence X10 Panis and Evelina xxxx ,,,but if for some reason you get to taken to the annex outside the main hotel called Paul's plaza, this is a add on that used to be self catering old furniture and a total disgrace to be even part of this hotel , just stuck a sign on the outside saying Alexander ,real shame as it lets this lovely place down ,,small town ,ideal for a relaxing week ,would love some feedback about the rooms marked 600 plus ,,at reception refuse to go

Stayed here for a week with my sister, had a great holiday. The hotel was clean, the food was excellent and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. The beach is just a few minutes walk from the hotel with a number of shops, bars and cafe's close by, lovely resort.

This hotel was fantastic. After we complained about our room, we were moved to another as soon as it became available. Having stayed in 5-star plus on previous holidays I have to say the food was better at this hotel. The staff were all fantastic and very hard-working, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was clean and tidy and rooms were cleaned with fresh linen daily. If I had one issue it would be our first room, it was outside of the hotel so no wifi. It was pretty basic and the bedroom flooded every time we showered, my advice would be to avoid rooms 536, 537, and 538. Agia Palegia is an amazing place, very quiet out of out-of-season but non the less amazing. The tavernas on the front are very welcoming and rustic. All in all a very good holiday.

Übersetzter Text In less than 24 hours we changed rooms 3 times. The hotel has several buildings, each of them is dirty, we found unchanged bedding that smelled and there were hair on it. We also had cockroaches in the room, the hotel staff claims that this is normal situation. As proof I attach a photo.

Fantastic Hotel, our room was big, bright and very modern. Maid service daily from a lovely lady. Close to town and beaches but peaceful and everything you meed on site. All inclusive food and drinks are great but we popped on to the seafront for lunch/ dinner a couple of times. Staff are so hard working and very attentive. Spotlessly clean and pizza/ cookies served all afternoon makes a good snack break. We are definitely booking again.

My first visit to gorgeous Crete but unfortunately this hotel was disappointing. I did my research and read mixed reviews. Here's my thoughts. The positives - The staff were amazing, friendly and very hard working to ensure a proper Cretan experience. Breakfast by far was the best meal of the day, with fresh fruit, bread and pastries and omelettes made to order (albeit one omelette cooked at a time). The pizza at lunchtime and drinks were great and a lifeguard at the pool was a lovely touch. I wasn't happy with my room and Sula did her best to assure me I could change it in the morning if I wanted to. I didn't take advantage as my stay was short. The not so positives - The rooms were very basic, almost prison like, with blank walls, a noisy fridge and air conditioning with no tea and coffee facilities or bathroom toiletries, which is pretty standard in a 3* and 4* hotel. My private balcony was far from private, I couldn't open my door as it backed onto a outdoor path and had to keep my curtains shut for privacy, My room as a solo traveller was across the road from the main hotel which wasn't great for any refreshments top ups and don't get me started on the amount of steps to climb to get there, not the best for the less mobile or unfit! It felt so separate and a massive after thought. The pool was small for the amount of guests, pool reserved with towels despite warnings as early as 7.30am and I only managed to get a sun bed about 2pm in the afternoon... once. The beach which is a 5 minute walk away was the saving grace but small and can be equally busy. I suggest walking further on where there are benches, small coves and sunbathable rocks. All in all, I would say a very minimum 3*, go bed and breakfast and take advantage of local restaurants instead. I would also say go elsewhere for children, not enough to do and no night time entertainment and certainly not for the less mobile. There is more I could say but the staff made up for it. Would I return to Crete? Yes but not stay here. Sorry Alexander House Hotel, you've got a lot to do earn your so-called 4* status!

This was a really lovely hotel with very friendly staff. I definitely would stay here again. Its a small hotel with not many rooms. There's no day entertainment and no evening entertainment there was a singer on both Monday evenings we were there but that was all. I have heard they do a crete evening too but we didn't see this I think it happened the day we went home. Check in was quick and we was shown to our room which was nice. Rooms were nice beds were really soft. I didn't sleep much but that's because I prefer a firm mattress but my kids loved the beds and they slept well the whole 10 nights we were there. Pool area is nice and small but there's definitely not enough sunbeds or umbrellas for all and unfortunately you still get the selfish early risers to get their beds for the day and still don't turn up till dinner time. You are asked not to do this and towels will be removed but we never seen this happen once. The pool was a lovely temperature with the deepest end being 3.2m there is a 70cm children's pool with has been partitioned off. You can get beach towels from reception for a deposit of 5euros each and get that back when you return them. You can exchange your towels for a further 1euro each which we did once during our stay. There is a lifeguard who likes to blow his whistle if you canon ball into the pool or have a little more fun than just swimming. He's not always around though he does other errands too from what I saw. There is a snack bar that opens from 10am till 6pm just up the stairs from the pool area where you can get your drinks ice creams and pizza slices from. Breakfast was my best meal of the day here where they do a variety of fruits, cereals, cakes, yogurts, bread pastries, waffles and pancakes. There is also a lovely lady that makes your eggs how you want them either fried or an omelette where you choose what toppings you want by adding them into a bowl and she'll cook it up for you. Fresh fruit juices and water are also available along with your hot drinks. Being a fussy eater I can't really say alot about lunch and dinner because I didn't try alot even though there was a really good variety for everyone. They also did themed nights like Chinese, Mexican, Italian, burger nights and a Greek night, I have to say though the gyros that was made on Greek night was amazing. Puddings were nice with a good variety of cakes, mousse, fruit and ice creams. The staff are so so friendly in the restaurant and make you feel really welcome. The only thing I would suggest is maybe having items for children, lunch and dinner even if it is just chicken nuggets fish fingers pizza beans etc as there really isnt alot for children other than chips or pasta Also the temperature of the food isn't to how I like my food. The food is luke warm rather than hot which I would of preferred. I wasn't a massive fan of the soft drinks available. The coke isn't real coke neither is the fanta you can buy an original can of coke/fanta for 1euro50c from the snack bar though if you really wanted to. I enjoyed he orange squash though. I can't say anything about the alcoholic drinks as I never had any of these during my stay. This hotel has lots of stairs with no lift. So anyone with mobility problems may have alittle trouble getting around. My calfs are still feeling like they've had a good work out and I've been home 3 days now. There is a very short walk out the back of the hotel to the beach which will take between 2-5 minutes which we did most evenings after dinner and some early mornings to catch the sunrise which was amazing. It is lovely at the beach and the water is so clear. There are lots of sunbeds but again I think you need to get there well before 10am to get a bed with umbrella which is 10euros for 2 beds and one umbrella. I think for just a bed is 2euros. There are watersports that you can do on the beach we only did paddleboarding which was 18euros for 1 hour. There are plenty of restaurants along the sea front we ate in a restaurant called Zorbas which was really nice. There are also supermarkets and souvenir shops around the area. There is a beautiful cove that you can walk to to have a look at a really pretty beach but if you want to get down to it you can either go down by rope or use one of the watersports eg paddle board, kayak or pedalo to get to. Unfortunately we never got to it this time but maybe next time. You can get a bus to Heraklion from outside a bakery which is a very short walk outside the front of the hotel. The bus stop is called Out of the blue. In the week the first bus to stop is at 08:40am. Reception have a timetable with all the bus times on for your information. From Heraklion you can get other buses to where you'd like to go. We used this service a couple of times and they were always on time. One day we did get the bus to cretequariam which we was told stops right outside the aquarium itself. This is not the case it was a 15 minute walk from the main road which was really hard with the heat and 3 very hot and bothered children but I think the buses from there back to heraklion were every 15 minutes. We wanted to get the bus to chania but never had chance to do this. The buses are like coaches so any luggage or pushchairs go underneath. This was a really nice first time in crete and the alexander house hotel. We will definitely return
