Pepi was amazingly kind and made us feel so welcomed. The rooms are intimate enough that you dont feel crowded. The view is amazing from the balcony as well as from the swimming pool. We made the detour to stay here as we heard such good feedback from friends. We'll definitely come again!
Id recommend this place to everyone

This property is all about the view, and it is absolutely amazing! The owner is a very nice lady.

Now a few issues: the road is rough (only access for one car for a long stretch), the photos are not necessarily accurate, and a challenge to find reception (although this has been mentioned in many reviews which gives the feeling that the owner doesn’t care to change this). I think many of the photos are the private villas, which appear to be much more up to date but there are only two villas. While it’s a lovely property, I do not think it’s luxurious at all… it may have been spectacular when it first opened. A few other things: had a really short shower curtain so the entire bathroom floor got wet when showering and kitchen could use more utensils. There was an old, abandoned car not far from the pool as well as areas that could have been touch up a bit.

In summary, I think it’s a great value for the money however if it is luxury you desire, look elsewhere.

Review from Jean and John Frazier: My husband and I stayed at the Nymphes Luxury Apartments on Crete; we whole-heartedly concur that all the praise that others have given this beautiful place is totally accurate and well-deserved. We were there November 20-26 really lucked out with the weather, which was perfect. The majority of accommodations are closed during the off-season; fortunately for us, Nymphes was open. After staying there, we would never stay any place else on the island; I can t believe there could be a nicer place, and certainly not a nicer proprietor. The off-season rate for an apartment was 67 euros. Just the stunning view from the balcony was worth far more than that. The apartment was lovely, too. The icing on the cake is Pepy, the absolutely delightful and charming lady who owns Nymphes. We ve met many wonderful people in the places we ve stayed throughout the years, but they just don t get any sweeter or more hospitable than Pepy.We can t recommend Nymphes highly enough. We also would encourage people to consider travel in Crete during the off-season. The beach resorts are basically shut down, but the mountain villages and large coastal towns are full of life. The restaurants in Agia Pelagia, the pretty beach town below Nymphes, were not open, but there were several excellent tavernas open in Fodele, the next village over (and home of El Greco), 3 or 4 miles west of Nymphes.

Our family stayed for three weeks in August and did not want to leave. Booking an unknown place for this length of time was an act of faith, but this is no ordinary accommodation. Clean, homely, lovely balconies, comfy beds, regular towel and bed linen changes... a 4-star hotel but with much more space, and the wonderful Pepy who is there when you need her and who just can't do enough for her guests. She used to be called 'red cross' by her schoolfriends, and I can understand why as she just loves people and wants to help them. Grapes hung from our terrace, and Manolis, who describes himself as 'Mr.Pepy', brought figs in bowls together with a big smile. Cretan hospitality is very well represented in these two lovely human beings. The pool is clean and lots of sun-loungers make it a great place to be, with the cooling breezes on the hill making even the August heat pleasant.

The views are breathtaking... really. You could spend hours in the evening just looking out to sea or at the night-sky, and it was hard to come inside.
Agia Pelagia is a smaller resort than others (apparently). We feared a
Mediterranean summer with hordes and noise and the English abroad. Agia is more sedate, the beach narrow, with good swimming though and pedaloes etc.. There is a very pleasant internet cafe where you can have a drink and a good number of excellent quality restaurants. El Greco will do plain sardines if you ask, Kri Kri has great food, Caldera good pannacotta and mixed fish (good value ), but we liked Symposium for the warmth and the complimentary starter. Their pizzas are good too, according to my daughter.

We also had washing done at Nymphes, and this was no problem.

We will certainly go again; there is magic here, and we had one of the best holidays ever.

We spent 5 days at the Nymphes apartments and would go back in a heartbeat! The location is great, Ayia Pellayia is a short drive from Heraklion and has several very good restaurants.

We reserved two apartments. They were both of a good size, clean, modern and with a balcony that provided wonderful view of the town below and of the sea. There was a bottle of Cretan wine and some fresh fruit to welcome us and every day brought a small surprise like cookies and more fresh fruit.

The price of the apartments was considerably lower than what we could have paid for a hotel in Heraklion. I reserved the apartments via email, directly with the owner and got a prompt confirmation and no billing problems at all.

The owner, Pepy, is a big part of Nymphes' success. She's warm, cheerful and always ready to help. I recommend this place without any reservations and would go back tomorrow.

I am a composer by trade. In my many years of travel, I have never experienced a setting so magnificent and with such thought to aesthetic detail. My wife and I desperately needed peace of mind, somewhere special---so we chose Crete, and I luckily found Nymphes and Pepi, it's hostess and "artist".

Nymphes is quite unique. Pepi has taken great pains to "sculpt" every detail of decor, landscape and amenities to enhance the visit...not to mention her willingness to personally help plan your trip. For me, she found Crete's most famous instrument maker in Zaros!

The facilty is located on a very high, magical mountain, with an ascending country road. It is like entering into another universe. The view is spectacular, day or night. The sense of quietude--deep and soothing.
What is even more remarkable is the centrality of the location---whether one's taste is beach , ancient Minoan culture, a taste of Cretian yogurt and honey in a mountain village taverna, or simply to absorb the quietude---it is all there, and possible.

Nymphes is a carefully crafted weave of delicate music. I am still echoing!

My husband and I just returned from a WONDERFUL week in Crete at Nymphes Luxury Apartments. As the other reviewers reported, it is a very beautiful and relaxing spot. Pepy is a wonderful hostess. She arranged for our transfers, a private tour of the island and our rental car. She made us feel right at home from the moment we stepped onto the property. Aphrodite prepared us several great meals and delivered them to our balcony. It was really a treat! We enjoyed every minute of our holiday!

We stayed in this hotel for 3 days in August because of the reviews on this site. Unfortunately i have to disagree with most people, the rooms here are very basic for a self styled luxury place and the hotel is in a deserted location. I would not stay at this place again - it's up a very long and dangerous narrow road without any lighting and unless you have a car hired is not practical. It represents neither good value or convenience - though the owners were very friendly and nice but that does not make up for the big disappointment. There are so many lovelier places with better views to stay in Crete so don't waste your time here!

To tell you the inside scoop, which is not on the website: Pepy is a Civil Engineer, who dropped out of the workforce years ago to raise her sons. She immediately bought the side of a mountain, and designed this wonderful home away from home. It took her 11 years to complete (just finished this year). The apartments are immaculate and have an unsurpassable view, and are tidied up every other day the maid even straightened our shoes! There is a small kitchen, suitable for breakfast and lunch, but as a family we opted to eat out for dinner. The apartments are situated above the village of Agia Pelagia, just west of Herkalion (the quieter direction), which is not very built up at all. The Idi mountains form a backdrop. The sea practically laps up to the restaurants we have never eaten so close to it!Pepy showered us in Cretan hospitality, including homemade cakes, organic fruit and drinks by the pool all gratis. A British couple was back for the 3rd time in a year, so Pepys husband, Monolis, spent all day preparing a huge meal we all had a night of great food and Greek dancing. Again, just a show of their hospitality. The last day, I was treated to a tour of her organic herb garden, and was given many cuttings to take home. Now my kitchen smells of beautiful Crete!Pepy arranges rental cars (delivered to the apartment), and transfers from the airport all as a favor none of the hidden charges that I have found elsewhere. She even has a complete library of books on the area, available to borrow.By the way, we were given a generous discount for having two rooms, and if we can come back within a certain time period, are being offered half the stay for FREE!This place is a jewel!

No! You do need a car, as Keen walkers we thought it would be fine but the location is in the mountains- really in the mountains! It took us over an hour walk to the beach. The photos on the website are a little deceiving we thought we were much closer. That said the views and the accommodation are worth hiring a car for in our opinion.

Thank you for your nice words about NYMPHES. A hiring car is preferable, if you would like to explore Crete, or, the use of a taxi, for transfering to the resort of Agia Pelagia, where is the beach, taverns, bars, super markets, etc. Thank you Pepy NYMPHES' owner
