The staff was extremely helpful and the room was exceptional. We loved the bathtub! We had a wonderful dinner and breakfast on the terrace. We loved the neighborhood cats who came to visit. If you are passing through this area, this is a wonderful place to stay. Highly recommend.

Knowing it was once the home of the Marquis de Sade wasn't enough to make us book the Chateau de Mazan, but seeing that we could afford to stay in Palatial grandeur in the region we'd be exploring -- plus tell a good story -- gave it an automatic thumbs-up. Thanks to the Italian-born Enrico, we spent the next full... More

We booked directly in advance with Egbert who welcomed us at reception. All staff were friendly and professional. Pool area is incredibly private and quiet for village location. Our room comfortable and free standing bath was a bonus. Restaurant high standard. Highly recommend.

My husband and I recently stayed at Chateau de Mazan for 3 nights during a Trek Travel cycling tour. Our room was so charming! 14 foot ceilings, 4 poster brass bed, claw foot bathtub big enough for 2 and shuttered windows that opened up to the gardens and a view of the Provence countryside. We loved the pool after a... More

We booked the entire hotel for 2 nights. Rooms were lovely and the service was superb. The proprietor Frederic and his enthusiastic staff took care of everything: outside events including visit to wineries, transportation, flowers for wedding, music and even hairdresser and babysitters. No need for a wedding planner. The food was outstanding, even when compared to the many excellent... More

We had a very spacious room (103) where we stayed with 2 adults and 2 kids. Very comfortable and clean, with a beautiful bathroom which has a a nice roll top bath and a separate walk-in shower. The room also has a small terrass with sun chairs. Service in the hotel was great, the pool area is very nice (lots... More

The Chateau de Mazan is well worth a stay particularly if you like the unusual. The staff are delightful and the cuisine, apart from breakfast, is superb. The hotel, once the family home of the De Sade family, offers a relaxed stay in a charming and artistic environment without any stuffiness or pomposity. Unfortunately the village of Mazan which (unusually... More

Sadly this hotel needs a refurb, especially on the bottom floor where we stayed. There are old framed posters on the walls and the paint colors are atrocious. The front staff seemed a little overwhelmed.

Dear Sir, Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment on Chateau de Mazan. I am sorry that you didn't like the hotel decoration. Chateau de Mazan is an historical building furnished and decorated carefully with antiques, art and decoration objects coming mostly from France but also from other places in Europe and India. Lovely hotel that takes you back in time. Rooms are beautifully decorated, food is delicious. Quiet and relaxing and great spot for day trips to some of the lovely surrounding towns. We were here for a wedding which was an amazing event and the Chateau made it magical.

We stayed here for one night at the beginning of a four-day bike riding tour. The whole experience was lovely, filled with old-world charm. I would have happily stayed a few extra days as Mazan is a good starting point for a number of challenging loop rides in the Ventoux area. Climbs from either Bedoin or Malaucene were possible from...
