I booked this hotel for my husband and I and my parents to break up the journey traveling back to the UK. As a 2 star I wasn't expecting much, I can say I was very pleasantly surprised. The rooms were exactly what we needed, clean and comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was lovely and a...

We stayed a single night to break the journey and it was fine for this purpose. The room was quite large and clean, with fairly comfortable beds. The bathroom was a bit strange - it had a corner bath with a shower mounted about mid way up the wall and no shower curtain or screen. There was parking but very...

Staff was friendly and helpful, rooms were clean, shower could have done with some extra cleaning but overall very pleasant stay. Village is charming, a must see. Handy for an overnight stay if coming to or from the ferry. Just an hour and a half from Dieppe. Breakfast was good with a buffet and a choice of cheese and ham....

Great hotel and so friendly in our hour of need being soaked riding their from Caen. Looked after the bikes, help dry our cycling gear and were just really helpful. For a 2 star hotel you can't beat it. Very comfortable and clean, wifi, and a nice lounge area. Breakfast was normal continental and was very nice too. Location is...

A good stopping point being around two and a half hours south of Calais. The hotel is clean and comfortable, and the staff are helpful and welcoming. It has had a make-over since my last stay and is now well presented. The breakfast is only average with not much choice. There are several restaurants close by that are worth a...

Great hotel in centre of town, room clean and tidy, service was very helpful and friendly, definitely stay again if in area. Visited several bars and restaurants in town, each one had a warm welcome and the local people were very friendly.

My wife and I stayed one night on route from a cross-channel ferry before heading south the next day. The room was clean, comfortable and functional and overlooked internal courtyard so was very quiet. The hotel has its own private parking area which was useful and avoided unloading the car but if staying on Friday night be aware that there...

My wife and I stayed one night as a stopover on our drive from Calais down to Cognac in September 2014. Our room was spotlessly clean, comfortable and functional and was a good choice as a stopover. Reception staff were welcoming and efficient, providing an excellent suggestion for dinner. Breakfast was a typically French affair with a good selection of...

We frequently have overnight stops en-route through France and have always used those cheap and cheerful hotels (B&B usually). Well this time we stayed here at Le Lion D'or. Well what an unexpected delight. Don't get me wrong this is a 2 star hotel, but it's clean, friendly and in the middle of a delightful town and not an industrial...

Bernay is a fascinating small town with plenty of historical buildings. We were very warmly welcomed by the owners of the hotel. They suggested a lovely restaurant for our evening meal and booked a table for us, excellent recommendation too. We really enjoyed our stay, our 2 spacious rooms were clean and had everything needed. Breakfast was plentiful and enjoyable....
