We are fortunate to live locally and enjoy eating here frequently. The Auberge is part of the ancient abbey and the entrance to the building takes you into a medieval world of flagstone floors, beamed ceilings and huge stone fireplaces. The restaurant upstairs is a delightful room with an open fire and views over the abbey; we also appreciate that... More

This is a fabulous hotel. To the detractors; if you book to stay in a medieval building, don't be surprised when it turns out to be a medieval building! It is so full of interest and all the little nooks and crannies and little stairways just add to it's character. Our room was wonderful (with all mod cons, including heating,... More

This is a medieval building with 3 foot walls but was perfectly cool in the heat but in winter, it would be a devil to heat. You are effectively staying in a beautiful castle with an ancient abbey next door (that you can visit). Auberive is perfectly located for a highly interesting stopover whilst travelling south through France. It's close... More

The rooms are musty, damp with no central heating and poor heating. Toilet and shower are very unwelcoming and the toilet is just something curtained off in the bedroom. Food is indifferent. But worst is we were asked to pay cash which we did and then discovered some two weeks later checking our credit card statement that the hotel had... More

We chose the abbey for its location and unique setting. It was getting dark when arrived , and dark is the general theme here. We were welcomed into a 12th century abbey complete with 15th century everything. Whilst the price was on a par with most 2 or 3 star hotels you get close to major roads in France, the... More

We were recommended the place by some family friends as a little well-kept secret and we were not deceived. it was from far the best stay we had in France because of the true and unique charming character of the place, the beautiful rooms and restaurant and perhaps also the kindness of the staff . We were very much at... More

We stayed for one night in a family room. The tour of the Abbey next door was fun and enjoyed by our kids too (aged 10 and 11), especially the prison cells that French children were locked up in. Wonderful dinner in the medieval restaurant and great breakfast of patisserie, coffee and juices. At the end of breakfast we were... More

In an area where we find it hard to locate a good overnight stop, where we panic as dusk falls, this was such a pleasure! Hidden down a lane in a beautiful stone village, a character auberge with 6 bedrooms, all very tasteful, modern plumbing, excellent food, family run. English understood if not readily spoken. We will definitely use again.
