Hotel Martinez has garnered a mixed reputation, with guests frequently celebrating its spacious, modern rooms and pristine public spaces, alongside a commendable variety of food and convenient beach access. However, some visitors have encountered inconsistent service, ranging from unhelpful staff to subpar room cleanliness, which also extends to the housekeeping services. Additionally, while the pool area has been highlighted as lovely, there are concerns over the lack of in-room safes and the inconsistency in food quality and temperature, leading to divided opinions on the hotel's overall value.

PROS to visiting Sozopol and Hotel Martinez.

The hotel is newly refurbished and is beautiful and clean and the staff are friendly enough. Most of them speak English which helps. The rooms are spacious and clean. There are 4 pools and although they are freezing cold they are always clean and well maintained. The beach is literally a two minute walk from the hotel and is beautifully sandy and again very clean. You can hire sun loungers on the beach for a reasonable price. There are lots of bars and restaurants along the strip which were mostly closed because we went at the end of the season but I can imagine peak season they are open and busy.
The old town is a 10 minute walk away and is a beautiful old town and well worth a visit. If you do visit Sozopol old town then make sure you check out Elvis kitchen restaurant. The food is amazing.

CONS to visiting Sozopol and hotel Martinez.

The food in the hotel is lukewarm at best. It’s is mostly all edible and there is a microwave if you want to heat the food up. The choice of food is the same most days and is usual hotel buffet style food.
The choice of drinks at the bars in the hotel are limited, they have one local brand of beer and the cocktails are all on draught. The soft drinks are ok but there is no diet or low calorie options.
The hotel rooms have limited hanging space for clothes and there is no safe in the rooms.

If you just want a relaxing chill by the pool or a beach holiday then Sozopol is a great destination. If you’re looking for something a bit more lively then Sozopol isn’t really the place to be.

The week we spent in Sozopol was amazing and very relaxing which was just what we needed. I would recommend hotel Martinez and I would stay there again.

We are currently at this Hotel . On arrival we had a very swift check in by very friendly staff and were given food packages each has we had arrived after dinner had finished that was a nice touch . The hotel is beautiful and spotlessly clean . Cleaners seem to work around the clock . Our room is beautiful ,modern and housekeepers come in everyday to clean . There are loads of sun beds no towel saving etc you can come to the pools anytime and get a sun bed easy .
You literally walk out of the garden and you are on the gorgeous beach . The promenade area that runs between the hotel and the beach is a seafood lovers haven and if you want to eat out in the evening or just buy snacks for a day on the beach it is so cheap .
Entertainment is just what you’d expect in this sort of hotel the animation team work hard .
The only 1 downside to this hotel is they can’t seem to keep the food warm . You can be first in the restaurant but it’s all only just warm which is poor. The food is really good plenty of choice but just literally warm or if you go to snack bar a bowl of cold chips that’s been sat there ages with luke pizza . It’s a shame as that lets it down (they really need to sort this ). Having said that we would return in a heartbeat . We have eaten out in the evening a few times and are having a wonderful holiday ☀️

Went for a relaxing, cheap family break & that's what we got, perfect.

Hotel has recently been refurbished to a high standard. Not yet finished but works still not complete don't impact on your stay. Lovely clean spacious rooms, walkin shower big enough for two. Shower curtain not glass. Room had fridge & kettle but no safe. Lots of space so a sofa or chair would have been a nice addition. Double bed is two singles pushed together as one.

Around the hotel lovely clean pools, one just for children with fun slides. Plenty of sun beds. Activities around the pool, very popular children's disco in the evening. No adult entertainment in evening, eg singer, but this may come.

Food in restaurant well cooked, tasty & plenty of variety, something for everyone. Didn't like some piling plates high then leaving uneaten as waste. Staff constantly clearing tables. Drinks at bar tasty but not all strong. Keeps all inclusive affordable?

Our big negative was smokers everywhere. Hotel- one restaurant area was non smoking but you needed to walk through the smokers to get there. Smokers around all areas of the pool & bar area. Couldn't eat outside as full of smokers. Outside the hotel, all bars & restaurants no smoking restrictions.

Outside of hotel, at back is the beach & a number of bars & restaurants, all very reasonably priced. Strong local beer! Short walk to a lovely old town & further beaches & bars. All very clean.

We enjoyed the area as a small resort so not too busy. Enjoyed the walking around, felt safe, no issues. Prices of beers & other goods we considered cheap compared to home eg £2 per pint of local beer.

We would go again & to this resort & hotel. Yes we would recommend.

On arrival we were told our rooms on 1st floor in fact one on 1st 2 on second. After going down a couple of corridors we found our rooms.Room is large 2 single beds pushed together as double and large bathroom with a lovely hot powerful shower and hairdryer. We had coffee sachets on arriving but these were never refilled during our stay.Towels are changed if you leave in sink and bin emptied but haven't had a sheet change or bed made and been here a week.On asking for coffee sachets for our room we were told they didn't have any and we .needed to use the coffee machines in reception or restraunt and you are only allowed to take one tea bag, something the rep mentioned on his talk. The restraunt is in 2 styles cafeteria and the more comfort chairs and table but it is run by children including the bar staff age 14? The food is repeating dry and cold.salads excellent. There is a microwave to warm it up.snacks are cold pizza and dry biscuits!!!! Entainment is hit and miss. They had a film showing tonight on a small project screen and unless you .were sitting straight in front you had no view.Come 11 o clock on the dot the lights around the entaiment area are turned off and you are left sitting in the dark with your drink
The barman who's day tme job should should be a lifeguard is the worst staff member in any hotel in my lifetime I have had to deal with.We were in a queue for over half a hour waiting to order(only him serving)when he just walked in front of a guest knocking her flying and saying no more finished
He then went back into the bar and served 2 men. When asked why they got served and others hadn't his words were they pay me good tip
This staff member also upset many people round the pool with his attitude he tends to come round at lunch time putting all the umberellas down then he moves beds back to sets of two not worring about peoples belongings but when I say move he throws them down even to the point of a near miss the final bed he threw down narrowly missed going in the pool.He then started cursing about the number of beds that had been moved to catch the sun and he spit on the ground. On top of that he sat most of the day under the tunnel on his phone and if anyone got into difficulty in the pool and those sitting around didn't notice that person would have drowned b4 he even noticed. They don't wear a name badge so difficult to name but this one man had short black hair and a very bad skin. This man's lack
of customer care has left a bad taste for many leaving to most not wanting to return. The hotel will not get return customers if they don't change the rules around hospitality and I and a number of people I have spoken to.will never return
There is no safe in the room or available to hire and some rooms have had money and jewellery taken from them, again there is no management on site to speak to only reception staff who have limited English.Sorry to say this is not the type of hotel I'm used to and one I don't want to return to

.

The hotel is clean and obviously new from the refurbishment. The food for adults and kids is decent albeit it was cooked way advance of being eaten so somethings things were a little dry or over cooked. Sunbeds are plentiful and we never had an issue in obtaining one thought the day. The pools were clean and warm with the kids slides a bonus. The toilets are clean through the hotel but are always full of mosquitoes and getting bitten is an inevitability. Ice cream is on constant supply though the day along with the all inclusive food options. At the back of the hotel is an amazing selection of street food adjacent to the beach area which is amazing at night. The old town and central beach is also of walking distance. The animation team were sensational and deserve a special mention for their work. The rooms were of decent standard and we had two rooms, one in A block and one in D. A seems to house the more modern rooms with better facilities. You can hire beach/pool towels from reception for 20 LEV and these can be changed regularly. Overall we had a smashing time and would recommend this hotel.

On arrival the hotel looks good. Newly refurbished for this year. My room was a good size with a king sized bed and a large balcony with table and chairs and over looking the main pool. The food on arrival, as we arrived late, two sandwiches and a croissant. There the good story ends. The bed had a bottom sheets and two single duvet covers but no duvet or top sheets. After two days I requested a duvet as the nights had turned cold, a duvet was delivered but not put in the cover. These duvets covers were never changed. The room did not have a safe, ( luckily I had taken a padlock for my suitcase) no telephone or any details regarding the hotel facilities or fire drill instructions. Security was lax as some guests reported that items had been taken from their rooms. Complimentary shower gel and shampoo in the bathroom, and herbal tea and coffee in the room, although if used these were never replaced. The bottom sheet on the bed was only changed once in two weeks, for the first 10 days new towels were left every day, after that I had to request them. The floor was never swept or washed, even though I had put the "Please clean room" sign was put on the door. The staff were surly and unhelpful, and the hotel, being the end of the season was closing down around us. The bar closed dead on 11 pm although guests had been queuing for 30 minutes or more! There were no signs to give bar serving times. The food in the restaurant was luke warm at best, there was however a good salad bar. Many of the restaurant staff were young teenagers 13 and 14 years old from another country, these all left after the first week. leaving the restaurant under staffed. We only saw the Jet2 rep on one occassion, no organized excursions at all. Needless to say I will not be returning to this hotel ever again. The old town of Sozopol was lovely although it was also closing down for the season. The sandy beach was close to the back of the hotel, the sea was very rough so not good for swimmimg.

We were due to stay at the hotel from the 23/09 to the 30/09 through Jet2 Holidays, however we left on the 25/09 and stayed elsewhere.

The hotel is badged as a 4 star hotel but it’s most certainly not. More like a 2 or 3 star with 3 pushing it.

The hotel itself has been through a full refurb and is light and clean, however the rooms are as basic as they come, not even a safe is included. The rooms were serviced but they only straightened your bed and put clean towels out. They didn’t actually clean anything such as the bathroom sink etc.

The food and drink is by far the worst problem with this hotel. The soft drinks are none branded roller cola and personally I couldn’t drink them. No fresh orange with breakfast, only cordial from the draft machine, coffee was also undrinkable.

For the two nights I stayed I hardly ate any of the food provided. There was no variety and it was look-warm at best. People were actually using the microwave to head it up. Some of the chicken didn’t look fully cooked so only ended up having a handful of oven chips. It was the worst food I’ve ever been presented with.

There was a very poor selection of alcohol drinks with the cocktails being undrinkable. After buying my own mixer from the local shop I asked for some vodka only to be told they didn’t have any left.

There is little to no entertainment. The staff are also cold and rude. However the pools were nice if not abit on the cold side.

The area itself was more or less completely closed down. I understand that it was the end of the season but it didn’t officially end until 01/10 with Jet2 not giving us any warning that there would be no excursions or activities available. The area immediately outside the hotel looks derelict. Jet2 also admitted that this was a new area for them with the hotel being new to Jet2. I would urge them to either reclassify the star rating for this hotel or drop it from their offering.

Based on our experience we felt the need to leave the hotel and area, and pay to move to a different true 4 star hotel in the sunny beach resort. Other guests in the hotel were also not happy and were complaining to the rep.

I will be raising a complaint with Jet2 Holidays when I return home, and may never book with them again.

Good Things...Beautiful Hotel, smart and spacious. Lovely pool area, loungers and the weather was great. Rooms were basic, but comfortable. There is no safe. The

Not So Good Things... Staff seemed to know very little about the area, some tried to help, others were just plain miserable and abrupt. We were fit and able to make a good holiday by getting out each day. The town is a good 15 to 20 minutes walk, some uphill, but from there you can get cheap local buses to Nasebar and Bulgar, get on the bus and pay the conductor. If you have mobility issues, this may not be the hotel for you, because there's little to do in the area. All the shops and restaurants are now closed or closing due to end of season.

Terrible things....The food, it was cold or tepid all the time. The presentation and cooking of the food was just simply awful. I really worried about the safety of the food, it was difficult to get jet2 or the manager to understand the complaint. I was told I was the only person who had complained about the food. When I complained to the Manager, she told me it was my job to warm the food in the tiny, poorly cleaned microwave available at the buffet! The drinks bar had a limited range of drinks, there was no brandy! There were machines for tea and coffee, the hot chocolate was nice.

To be fair, maybe this hotel will be ok next season, but avoid it this year. I think they were trying to sort out the problems with staff changes the last day of our holiday and we did begin to see small improvements. I also think with the food and customer service that cultural differences may be an aspect to the customer experience.

The hotel is lovely and clean, the rooms are a great size but do not have safes. The room service is very hit and miss beds not made towels not changed even when left on the floor, sink not cleaned the whole week, tea coffee not replenished.
Food although a variety was repetitive everyday and was only ever lukewarm, had to warm in the microwave at every meal. No specialty evenings.
Drink were very limited and served by one extremely rude member of staff (who's day job was lifeguard and his attitude was really bad). Did not appreciated having drinks served in plastic cups in the evenings.
The pools were clean but freezing, plenty of sunbeds.
We went mid September and everything around the hotel was closed or closing down.
Would not recommend this hotel to anyone, needs major staff training before next season.

I very rarely write reviews but I need to warn you this is a disappointment.

1) very unhygienic rooms. They refused to give me a clean room DURING COVID the floor and bathroom were covered with OLD thick black hair. Very disgusting if it’s not your own. I had to wear shoes to go to the bathroom.

2) unfriendly staff at reception. The hotel was empty due to our late check in hour. They made me unpack my whole suitcase on the street having my underwear lying everywhere to fetch my passport as they do not accept ID

3) nobody will inform you about the breakfast they Tell you to get some from the steer outside

4) upon request to speak with the general manager they said he was not available. They refused to notify him at the reception.

Don’t go to this hotel if you want a clean and relaxed vacation
