Detailed Reviews
The best thing about the Hotel Coral is the gorgeous view from the balcony. It's one of the best views of Sozopol you can get, with the Town Beach to your left and the Black Sea to your right as your gaze is led across the bay towards the walls of the Old Town, which are illuminated when darkness falls. Excellent to sit here and enjoy the view (and a cold beer) in the evenings when the kids are in bed. You'll also have a great view of the Sunday night fireworks. There can be occasional noise from beachfront restaurants or the odd rock concert in town, but if you're used to life in the big city this will only be a minor nuisance and closing the balcony doors will easily shut it out. If you don't get a room with a view, the restaurant, sun terrace and lobby bar are on the same side and have equally great views (there is also a rooftop bar, but I didn't visit it). Swallows swoop over the cliff-top restaurant in the evening, before darkness falls and the bats come out. The rooms have aircon (which you'll need if it's 32 C out, like it was during our stay) and are clean and spacious. There's a deep bath in the bathroom, which my son made full use of (we only have a shower at home). There's a smallish swimming pool (and smaller gym) in the basement, which we never used, what with the Black Sea being five minutes away. Other than that, the hotel does not have any activities for children (apart from watching the Cartoon Network in Bulgarian, of course). We ate at the hotel restaurant every night, and the food there is good - but be prepared for a few misunderstandings, as the staff only know very basic English. However, we had this problem everywhere we ate in Sozopol. The Hotel Coral is also very close to both of the beaches, the Old Town, the town square, the museum, the harbour and the bus station - so it's within easy walking distance of everything. I liked it here and would be happy to stay again.

Hotel Coral is situated near (15 min) from the old town of Sozopol. It is a very clean, quiet, comfortable hotel with restaurant, lobby bar and a vast reception. The prices for groups are very low for this category of hotels. The personnel is kind and speak also foreign languages. Of course is not a hotel for American millionairies or snobbish.
The breakfast is very good for a normal person which is not a man with trifles. Many rooms have a beautiful view of the Black Sea. Also the hotel has a small parking.

The room was cozy. We got a room with sea view which made our stay, the view over the bay was marvelous day and night. The location of the hotel makes that the rooms on the seaside are almost never seen by the sun, so even if there were 36 degrees outside, the temperature in the room was much lower, we didn't bother with air conditioning. Good blind curtains, which I always appreciate. Breakfast was really okay, in spite of what are writing around many sites. Eggs (omelet), very good cheese, not so good yellow cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, black olives, butter, potatoes, some boiled pastas, honey, not so good jam, oat flakes, black tea, coffee. What would you need more ????
The shower had a small problem, it didn't switch well, water was running on both sides, but the pressure was so high, that you could use it as if it were okay. There was a small trace of water running from under the toilet seat and it got bigger with every flushing. I don't know if that water was from the inflow or the outflow, it didn't smell, but didn't look good either.

One of the worst places I have ever been. Absolutely no hygiene or what so ever, bathroom was not cleaned from previous guests, carpet was filthy and covered with derbis obviously not hoovered for weeks, hairs everywhere from previous guests. Terrace was only cleaned from what I could see in the begging of the season and never after as it was covered in spider webs, dirty and covered in sand that it was impossible to walk around witout flip flops.
Most of the furniture was dated, breakfast absolutely disgusting. Pool and gym were closed even tho advertised as open. On the photos it looks very romantic but that's absolutely not what you get, absolutely nothing looks as advertised and feels like it's falling apart.
Absolutely no action was taken after all points were highlighted to the hotel and the extremely poor hygiene remained unchanged for the duration of the stay and as you can even see on the pic there was even a huge cockroach, absolutely shocking.
This was meant to be a birthday gift treat for my partner but instead was our worst nightmare as I was nearly going to sleep on the beach instead of going back to the filthy room.
Doesn't deserve even one star, I will never ever return.

Location rocks everything else is far cry from being an acceptable accommodation place. Extremely dirty rooms which had not been cleaned for ages..you can also draw on room windows, there is a thick layer of dust on them.I have previuosly stayed at this hotel and the quality of the service has deteriorated dramatically. I would recommend to spend your money on a different hotel.

My last accomodation in this hotel was a total disapointment!
In the last years I visited another three times and I had been satisfied and I wrote great reviews...
In my last stay I was really shocked of the dirty room and lack of interest from the staff everywhere...an abandoned hotel!
So, the price was too high for the
services and dirty room!

Dirty, stuffy, noisy, old, inhospitable place. We wanted to go to a nice place, but we got very bad service for high prices. Breakfast is awful. The mattresses are broken. The pillows are uncomfortable. The carpet is replaceable and has never been cleaned. Everything is moldy. I have no words. I've never been in such a bad place.

what a brilliant hotel to stay at. sozopol is a hidden gem and staying at the corel was the icing on the cake. Yuri, the manager, made our stay even better. his friendly nature and going above and beyond his duties as a hotel manager were impressive. the food was fantastic. the hotel is in an excellent location. with views across the sea and to the beach. theres even parking outside. anyone who stays here will not be dissapointed. an all round great hotel with even better staff

we stayed in Hotel Coral for 2 weeks. The staff was very friendly, polite and helpful. The room was cosy, cleaned every day, not hot at all. people complain about plain breakfast, but I personally disagree. I don't know people who have everything from cereal to scrambled eggs to sandwiches to pasta or rice for breakfast))) Plus, you get to have breakfast on the beautiful terrace with a really pleasant sea view. there's a small indoor pool and a gym. Both clean and in good condition. you can relax on the terrace lying on a deck chair. the location of the hotel is very nice. if you go the right, there's a beach only 3 min away, if you go to the left, there's another one called Harmani, more like 7-10 min (we recommend Harmani since it's cleaner). The Old Town is about 10-15 min away. there are lots of nice restaurants there, our favourite was Mehana because it served some delicious traditional dishes. Overall, hotel Coral was a very nice place to stay and we would definitely come back there again! Good value for money!

We planed to stay in the hotel for a few days. We had our reservation for a room with a sea view.
When we arrived in the hotel, we wanted to see the room before we check in, because we already had bad experience with other hotels in Sozopol.
The personnel was very rude, but at the end they showed us the room...it turned out that they've given us the room with the worst view in the whole hotel.
We complained and wanted to see another room(because we had an agreement for a room with a nice sea view). Again the personnel was very unfriendly, they showed us a second room which was a lot better than the first, but it was so dirty that we had to go away.
There are better hotels than Coral in Sozopol, so don't go there if you want a nice vacation :)
