We recently stayed at the Loisium Langenlois after an overnight flight from the U.S. It was an easy hour-long drive from the airport and a much-preferred quiet retreat outside the busy city of Vienna. We arrived early with our small dog, who also joined the flight with us, and were delighted by the service. The staff was even able to accommodate an early check-in time so that we could rest. Our suite was spacious and well appointed, including a dog bed and amenities. The wines were all excellent, and the spa and resort grounds were lovely. The breakfast selection was also first-rate. This was our second stay in a Loisium hotel, and we will certainly be back again!
Nothing to say about the hotel infrastructure; its modern, clean and has a nice heated swimming pool. Two main issues though: 1. Even with 50% occupancy or so, we were not able to book a treatment at the SPA. We tried to reserve at our arrival and we were told that for the 2 coming days it was full. 2. We were hugely dissatisfied and disappointed by the restaurant. We had high expectations for the dinner but it was mediocre and overpriced. The first night we tried the meat speciality and it was full of fat and chewy. The risotto was average. The pumpkin soup was excellent though. The second night was a total disaster. We waited 1 hour to be served. They brought the incorrect fish. As we didn’t want to wait anymore, my husband ate it but it was tasteless and with poor presentation (4 tiny pieces of fish with pumpkin purée and pieces of pumpkin on top plus 3 pieces of a cracker). No sauce, no other side veggies and no taste at all. However they charged the original and more expensive fish. Both nights we gave feedback but they were not receptive at all. Maybe they were understaffed given the low occupancy, or maybe it’s a collateral damage from Covid, but the result is unacceptable. It’s really a shame and we’re leaving with a bitter aftertaste of our experience.…
got the 30% off deal - got the room in the new building.. who on earth markets the views of the vineyards and then builds balconies with milk glass?!? A New York Star Architect!! also: who is building new hotels without air condition?!? A New York Star Architect! finally: who is building an entrance with a 90-degree angle and a glass wall straight-ahead? I guess the same New York Star Architect?!? - the betterspace system: would be great! if it worked. - no kettle/coffeemaker/iron etc in the room - staff issues: some of the "loisianers" are trying, but you can see they are totally overworked
This was my first business trip since the lockdowns started. I was really excited to going back to a hotel. I was expecting that the rooms would be spotless. I arrived in the morning and my room was not ready. This meant that it had been occupied the night before. This made me feel a bit uncomfortable but i shrugged it off thinking that they disinfected between guests. My room was not as clean as i thought it would be. there was hair from the last guest or from the staff in the bathroom when i entered. The mirrors also did not seem clean. I was there for a workshop with colleagues and i have to admit that the reason i gave 3 stars was for the food. I am Vegan and they were advised that there would be Vegans in our group, and the food was really good. The service , on the other hand, was extremely slow. Even with a preset menu, 1 hour was not enough for lunch. The wait was quite long. They are also understaffed at the bar area. We sat outside for a long time before we were told someone would come for drink orders, but since we were. Big group, the waiters simply took care of the tables with less amount of people. In the end, we went back inside without having any drinks. The staff at reception was extremely friendly. The disinfectant gel that they have everywhere smelled amazing as well. There is a lot of construction going on around the hotel, the views can be obstructed.…
If you drink enough of the wonderful “Grüne Veltliner” of the Kamptal region You might also enjoy this hotel. Then you won’t mind that they praise the great vineyard-view of their “highest category” rooms and then you end up with a view on a construction site right in front of your balcony. You also won’t mind if you wait in front of the restaurant for 10 minutes to be seated and then don’t get any attention for 20 minutes once you sit on an outdoor table wich has so much spotlight on, that you think you are in an exhibition hall. You also can’t be bothered by the Menu that shows quite limited but extraordinarily heavy choices, like pork belly or Wienerschnitzel. And you won’t mind at all that your remarks about this are simply ignored by the staff. The new room, which we got after our “view” complaints had an air-condition which did not cool and on the first day they simply forgot to clean it,- also not after we reminded them. Finally,- they charged the full price of the premium room category although we stayed in a down graded room, which we accepted due to the construction site. We had a lot of the great wine of this wonderful region.... but we also found other hotels for next time.…
Hotel doesn’t have air conditioning system (only air cooling system which can bring down temperature by 4 c) so expect warmer room temperatures in summer. Loisium is extending its Hotel so we were overlooking a construction site when visiting with crane noise during day. Also compared to last visit one can now use Hotel facilities In the afternoon after checking out for a fee only.
At the centre of the Kamptal region in Lower Austria, on the edge of the picturesque town of Langenlois, in the middle of wine country, sits the Loisium Wine and Spa Resort (LWSR). It is an innovative concept: a winery for wine-lovers all wrapped up in an outstanding architectural approach. The LWSR is structured into 4 components, a hotel with an elegant spa, the vineyards, the wine museum complex and the underground caverns. As I approached the LWSR, a giant rubiks cube styled box made of aluminum and glass, rears it head up out of the centre of the vineyard that traipses up to it like spokes in a wagon wheel. This structure forms the basis of the Wine Cellar World museum. My tour of the museum and underground caverns was enlightening. The entrance to the caves, where 900 year old barrels are stored, seemed like an underground well which ushered in a water and laser show that embellished the tour. From here the tour took on a cave discovery aspect with stops to view elements of the winery, its storied history as well as the evolutionary process of wine making along with a unique exposition which visualized a grape on its path from harvest to finished wine. After the tour, I had an opportunity to taste 4 wines with commentary by a wine expert. As a complete neophyte, this session provided me with insights into wine appreciation. The trekking tour through the lovely surrounding vineyard was more like a hike to match up grapes with the wine they produced. The main LWSR grape variants here are a citrusy Gruners and mineral rich Riesling, both of which are produced on a scale from bone dry to syrupy sweet. The LWSR adheres to a biodynamic winemaking approach which engages an increasingly environmentally sensitive and labor-intensive form of agriculture....no fertilizer here. This approach reflects well for their award-wining wine quality. The hotel, is spacious, along with architecture and decor that is saturated in an 'all things wine' motif. From the top to the bottom of the building, the interior portrays the wine theme so vigorously that it is hard to tell where the vineyards end and the hotel begins. Rooms are outfitted in tones of grape, green and red, and airy windows overlook the vineyard and wonderful rural scape. Minibars are stocked with (Think: wine). No need to count sheep to go to sleep here, just count the wine bottles. The LWSR features an outstanding year-round heated pool, a fitness centre and a spa which provides wine-therapy treatments (How about a grape facial). Guests are privy to tours, seminars and wine tasting at the museum next door. So, if you want a totally immersive wine experience, accompanied by a creatively designed hotel and spa....try Loisium Wine & Spa Resort...Eat, Drink & Sleep Wine.…
A lovely hotel in a beautiful wineyards area. Great room, very good breakfast and the swimming pool was gorgeous. Also had a good massage there. Many areas for resting and enjoying the view. Surely will return there.
Interesting place, visiting internationally and really enjoyed this very rural, wine focused area of Austria. The "wine weg" hike was a highlight, the pool area is fun, loved swimming with the frogs in the pond, great treatments in the Aveda spa. The "sauna" area was closed for renovation when we were there, but we were warned in advance. The breakfast selection was superb. We had the included 4-course dinner with wine pairings and it was good value, also very nicely organized (you choose all 4 courses from anything on the menu; that was a nice surprise). The lady serving the wines was quite educational. MAJOR DOWNSIDE: our airconditioning just DID NOT WORK. At first I am quite sure it was broken (no air blowing at all) and then they said they fixed it - great, air blowing, but still not cool. I think it is just not capable of dealing with hot weather - it was nice sunny summertime when we were there but no abnormally hot. Guys, when guests say A/C isn't working, what they mean is they are not comfortable... you are selling a comfortable sleep, so all the bells and whistles in the world don't count for much when you don't provide that basic thing. They gave us a fan, nice gesture, helped a bit but basically YOU NEED TO UPGRADE YOUR COOLING SYSTEM. This hotel is too nice to be abandoned for that simple error in the physical plant - fix it. Also, the restaurant, otherwise very pleasant and fairly priced, was somewhat spoiled by all the smoking. Please, either ask people to smoke in the bar and not on the restaurant terrace, or at least group the smokers together and provide one area where people who want to SMELL and TASTE your good wine and food are able to do so!…
We spent a wonderful weekend in langenlois. The hotel was perfect for our stay with a nice pool and lounge area. The gym and spa is quite small, so I couldn’t imagine it for a stay in winter... Breakfast buffet was good :)
