“La Cacatúa Lodge” is a charming small hotel / Bed & Breakfast ideally located close to Marina Ballena National Park and yet tucked away in a secluded jungle setting. Marina Ballena, Costa Rica’s first national marine park is created in 1989 and wellknown of the whales, dolphins and turtles near the coast. Also two periods a year the whales are mating and giving birth to their youngs in this area. Wonderful beaches, good restaurants, shopping and banks are all easily accessible from our Lodge. Our lodge has spread throughout a tropical garden three bungalows house with four spacious rooms with bathroom, fridge and coffee maker and two studios equipped with kitchens. All have private terraces where you can watch the sunrise while sipping your morning tea or coffee. Enjoy the Mountain vieuw from the swimming pool or Jacuzzi as you relax after a day of sightseeing or take a drink at our pleasant bar.

What a beautiful view having delicious breakfast overlooking the pool, grounds, and mountains. The room was clean and comfy, with fans going. Our private patio provided us with lots of butterflies and birds to view. Enjoyed the pool after day adventures in surrounding area. Hosts are friendly and informative.

Tucked away up a dirt track, this Ecolodge is set in the most beautiful, peaceful surroundings. The owners have devoted 12 years to creating an oasis of calm just a 15 minute drive from the beach and whale watching options at Uvita. The garden flowers attract butterflies and birds. Grass is kept short to keep the snakes at bay and the pool is very welcome. Watch out for the iguanas passing through! Fans in the rooms are adequate. There’s a fridge and coffee/tea making facilities so we were able to bring food from Uvita for lunch etc. There is no restaurant on site so if you don’t fancy the drive into town ask to be booked in to Manoas lodge, 10 mins walk up the track where a couple of friendly chefs will cook a 3 course very acceptable evening meal for 20$. Take a torch! You do need a 4wheel drive to get here and beware of local GPS giving wrong directions. Google maps put us right!

I think it needs to be mentioned that the lodge is very far from the beaches and the main street. It is in the middle of nowhere (which some might like, but it was a bit too far off for us) and the street to get there ruined one of our tire. If you don't have an outdoor car, do not go there. The street is one of the worst we have seen in our round trip from the north to the south of CR. There is no WiFi in the cabines and bad WiFi it the "breakfast room". We could not plan any trips with the WiFi. Yes, the garden is nice but it is someones garden in which you are staying. This might not be everyones thing. We had a bit of a mixed feeling to stay in an expats garden instead of supporting the local establishments more close to the beach. The rooms are standard with no AC and no shower gel or soap in the bathroom.

What a nice lodge. This place, situated in the middle of nature, is beautiful. Every day you are wake up by the sound of howler monkeys and birds. The rooms are spacious, clean and pleasantly furnished and you have your own patio. The owners are very friendly and give you all kinds of information about the area. In short, highly recommended.

To reach the lodge, you have to drive 1.6km from the main road. Be careful: the way to get there is quite difficult (they suggest to have the 4x4). The lodge is lovely, in the middle of the forest with a wonderful view, you can see a lot of birds there. The pool is warm, the wifi works in the pool and reception area. The room has a kitchinette, no A/C, only 2 fans (it's very warm at night). The owners are very nice, they are from Netherland. Breakfast is quite good, no buffet, the owners cook for you. The only "problem" is that there's no restaurant, so you'll need to cook or to go to Uvita with a taxi. Overall we really liked this lodge.
