I was expecting a nice hostel. It's not pricey and I got it recommended. But when I arrived, I must say I was stunned. This place is absolutely beautiful. Must go if you like nature, a pura vida vibe, and you don't mind a little lack of privacy. I was planning to stay one night, but I called my next stop and fortunately I managed to extend my stay with another night. Host is very friendly and everything is clean and tidy.

Communication with the host was great, we did get eventually told off for parking at the end by what I assume could be an owner but it was a simple misunderstanding and knowing the rules we would have been happy to repark. It’s a lovely treehouse, we had a double room and it was very basic but good. Signs, wooden furniture and lot of spots to keep chilled is what makes the place. I assumed it would be little more welcoming and friendly but we had nice experience and met one friendly dog haha.. breakfast was tasty, shame it was charged separate but most people cooked and it was worth the 6dollars. The bathroom/shower was the only thing we were not happy about and definitely needed refurbishing. They also offer fridge for the guests but it was full of rotten things and food that gone off so we just got breakfast there and ate out. In overall it’s a lovely unique place of good value what you pay for that needs some little cleaning done

I honestly would not recommend it, not during Covid times. They do not at all follow the national Costa-Rican COVID health protocols such as wearing masks there, neither do any of their guests (there are a few signs but not even the managers bother to wear masks). I assume they argue that their architecture is half-open, but other places allover Costa Rica are designed that way, too, and masks are still worn to protect each other. Also, the private “rooms” are not private but super-noisy (more like a dormitory with a few thin semi-high walls), you will get sleep only once everyone else has gone to bed. A plus are two of the kind receptionists (very helpful) and the location.

So, I don’t know where to begin. I’ve been traveling as a digital nomad for almost 5 years and I never complain about a single thing. But this… I have never seen something like this in my entire life, istg. We just arrived here and we noticed immediately something didn’t feel right. After just 1 HOUR of being here, I was already being insulted twice by the owner. Let me explain. Without a proper tour around the hostel, we put our bags in our room and starting cooking dinner. I took a break in front of the hostel (open air) to smoke a cigarette. We already smoked a few there but this time the owner came up to me and started yelling at me with the words: what the f*ck are you doing, how st*pid can you be’. I was pretty shocked because I haven’t met this dude and he just started yelling and insulting me. I told him calmly that we didn’t get a proper tour and that I didn’t know there was a specific smoking area. I already went outside of the hostel because that’s just common sense. Instead of coming towards me and asking: hey do you stay here? You unfortunately can’t smoke here but we have a specific smoking area could you please go there? No, he came towards me extremely aggressively and calling me stupid and an idiot. I said that I would go stand somewhere else (in the open air) and he said: no are u st*pid, otherwise leave my property. I even asked where the smoking area was because yeah, how do I know? He didn’t even explain properly and just walked away. What a … I am the person who writes good reviews if it’s good, and if it’s not that good, I will write that as well as a feedback so they can take that into account. But this is the FIRST review I started writing immediately to warn other travelers. He clearly doesn’t give a fvck about his guests. Only about the money. I requested a refund for the remaining nights since it wasn’t my fault at all, and of course not. So, There are so many other beautiful hostels here in the area but because everything was full, we booked this one, unfortunately. I am telling you, as a person who travels on a daily basis all around the world, don’t come here. It’s not worth your money AT ALL.

Stayed here for 5 nights and felt super comfortable. Really nice community space where you easily meet people and can cook your own meals. Julie does everything to help the people out + the staff is superfriendly. Its a little bit remote (30 minutes walk to the supermarket) but that is part of the game :) Just get some beer, sit in the hammock and look into the jungle. Ps: For all travellers deciding to go please respect the night rest time... This is not a party place (which seems so be a challenge for young Americans) :D. But good news... Just some meters apart is a jungle bar with craft beer. How awesome is that!

Staying in this hostel is an incredible experience. It is like a huge tree house with incredible views of the jungle. The rooms upstairs have little to no privacy as the walls are made of wood logs, but the owner warned us in advance are we were fine with it. It was worth it for the views. The owner is extremely helpful and always has a smile on her face. Highly recommend

My worst stay in Costa Rica. The walls are open so I would only recommend staying at this place if you like large insects and bats flying through your room. Also, there were little brown "grains" on my pillow and in my bed that fell from the ceiling all night (I thought they were eggs from an insect). I didn't sleep all night. The hostel was aware of this disgusting stuff falling on my bed, but didn't warn me in advance. Nor did they provide me a refund. Oh let's not forget that the owner "did not have time" to speak to me the next morning because he was having breakfast and was "too busy".

This hostel is a gem, well hidden in the jungle close to to Uvita and it’s whale watching hotspots. Very friendly hosts, super clean rooms and dorms and a fantastic architecture- you even have a balcony where you can practice yoga in the mornings. We used the well-equipped kitchen to prepare some ceviche with fish bought very close by fresh from the ocean. If you have the chance, go there. It’s a great place to relax. The internet is super fast and they have adorable cats ❤️!

Unfortunately due to the photos etc I was under the expectation that this was more of a hotel than a hostel, but I was wrong. The common areas and location was beautiful, however the rooms in the guest house were awful- unclean, shabby and had a tiny light source/ one plug outlet which is too high up so could only charge one thing that wouldn't fall out. The showers and toilets were disgusting and the kitchen area was unclean due to guests being required to wash dishes. Also not very covid safe due to guests huddled around the kitchen constantly/. This hostel could be excellent if the owners clean up and refurbish some areas due to the great location and terrace. I also booked a yoga class in the morning, to which the teacher never turned up! She ignored us as she eventually came down having overslept by an hour or so. Unfortunately, I was glad to have only stayed one night.

I really wanted to like this place because it’s gorgeous. Although the woman who owns the place is incredibly rude and had a really stressed out vibe. It was pretty enough that we decided to stay. We rented a room with its own bathroom hoping for a little privacy. You can literally hear the people next to you snoring. You can hear every single word of their conversation. Every single word. I might as well have been in a tent. Thank god the people next to me weren’t having sex cus I am sure I would have heard every single deep breath too. Not an even slightly romantic place. The walls don’t go all the way up so if you are up past dark you get swarms of beetles and other bugs flying towards the light and you have to battle with bugs under your mosquito net. The place is pretty and all but the price you pay for a private room is NOT worth it. You can go to Hotel Laurels or Sueños Tranquilos and get a real room (with real walls), a lovely trails, a pool, lovely staff, nice vibes FOR the SAME Price as a private room at Cascada Verde The wifi is bad too... really bad. I guess if you are going to dorm it up this place is fine but as a couple it was not worth half the money we spent. I’m usually pretty chill when it comes to travelling. I’ve been travelling for over 10 years all over Latin America. And although Costa Rica is one of the most expensive countries to travel in, there is still a standard for what something is worth based on what is close by, available etc.
