Detailed Reviews
Communication with the host was great, we did get eventually told off for parking at the end by what I assume could be an owner but it was a simple misunderstanding and knowing the rules we would have been happy to repark. It’s a lovely treehouse, we had a double room and it was very basic but good. Signs, wooden furniture and lot of spots to keep chilled is what makes the place. I assumed it would be little more welcoming and friendly but we had nice experience and met one friendly dog haha.. breakfast was tasty, shame it was charged separate but most people cooked and it was worth the 6dollars. The bathroom/shower was the only thing we were not happy about and definitely needed refurbishing. They also offer fridge for the guests but it was full of rotten things and food that gone off so we just got breakfast there and ate out. In overall it’s a lovely unique place of good value what you pay for that needs some little cleaning done

This hostel is a gem, well hidden in the jungle close to to Uvita and it’s whale watching hotspots.
Very friendly hosts, super clean rooms and dorms and a fantastic architecture- you even have a balcony where you can practice yoga in the mornings.
We used the well-equipped kitchen to prepare some ceviche with fish bought very close by fresh from the ocean.
If you have the chance, go there. It’s a great place to relax. The internet is super fast and they have adorable cats ❤️!

So beautiful and relaxing. A child free hostel with lots of open concept communal spaces, hammocks, clean washrooms & rooms and very friendly staff.
Imposed quiet time from 10pm-6am makes for no partying and solid sleeps.
Monkeys in the trees are a joy to watch from the balconies! Nestled into the jungle and a five minute walk from a great waterfall.
Breakfast is free if you book from the Hostel website rather than through a secondary booking company.
(They do have a fruit plate option as well for vegan & gluten free travelers)

I didn't book this place, a peer did. we arrived to 3-4 yapping dogs who continued to bark throughout our stay. there might have been some night time hours when they were not barking. The first thing I notice is everyone's shoes spread out on the floor reaching more than a yard into the front passageway. Moving forward through a hallway full of backpacks and snack food displays and endless used books you reach the counter. I made it known i needed a room without stairs so I was placed in the "basement" room which is actually the first floor, but calling it the "basement room"gives a better description. It is a damp, smelly concrete room near the front door. Pros: after you move through the hostel to the front you are in a beautiful jungle setting with all the sounds and sights. truly gorgeous IMO. the mattress was comfortable, there was a fan and a dedicated shower bathroom, very hostel like but at least not dirty or moldy, so that's a plus. cons: it's right behind the kitchen area's bank of 5 huge commercial refrigerators and their growling motors, which are with you as long as you are in that room. If you are emf sensitive, you won't like it. Also the aforementioned kitchen area, which is great for budget travelers, contains lots of garbage receptacles, all with lids but i have to wonder if the smelly issue isn't related to the proximity to the kitchen. speaking of which, I needed ice. No ice available. I was directed to a tiny freezer to place my freezable plastic cooler thing. the next day it was not frozen. there was still no ice anywhere. It was essential to keeping my insulin cool. As mentioned previously, the dogs. Also constant noise. I expected to at least be able to rest but this wasn't the place for that. Not their fault. The floor above must have its bathroom right above this concrete dungeon room as you will often hear the flushing toilet and running shower, as you try to go to sleep at "quiet time" which is the only 8 hours this place gets anywhere close to quiet. My fault. I should have vetted it. thought it might be useful to warn someone like me that this a paradise for budget travelers (mostly youngish and without chronic health conditions) who need very little in the way of comfort or care. If that describes you, you will love it! etc: you are limited to one towel per day.

To start, the hostel is nice in and of itself.the location is great if you don’t mind taking a cab, renting a car, or walking. Multiple waterfalls are very close and the general town of uvita is only a short walk down the hill. Very beautiful views from the top deck as well.
The private rooms seemed to vary despite them all costing the same. Our group rented two, one had a shower, toilet, and lots open space, the other was in basically a cement room with two beds under reception. Smelled very musty and didn’t feel clean compared to the other room for the same price.
The biggest issue and reason behind a two star review was the staff. I have never received such rude and patronizing treatment from any source of customer service than we did here!
Initially the two women who seem to own it were nice and helpful but did seem annoyed and confused at any questions we asked. At first I wasn’t sure if it was a language barrier although they did seem to speak Spanish, English, and what I assume was German or Swedish. I can understand how a group of American women may be expected to be dumb or uncultured but we really were trying our best to speak a common language and and be polite and easygoing when asking for help.
Each breakfast comes with a plate of fruit per person, regardless of what you order, but if you order with another person you only receive one plate. Not really a big deal, but consistency would be appreciated for the price and it did feel like they were skimping you out of food if you were eating with another person. I mentioned this and got a very rude and snappy reply from one of the women. After that they were ALL rude and snappy to our entire group of 6 women.
They seemed to deliberately “forget” to call a taxi when we would request one and put a deposit down. Also kept our deposits twice when they are supposed to be returned once the taxi arrives.
I have never had a person begin a counter genuinely sigh when asked a question but these guys would almost every time! It felt as though they were bothered by our very presence in the hostel. Eye rolling, sighing, and simply just ignoring our questions!
It is a shame since the stay was enjoyable due to good views and a yummy breakfast. But if you want to feel comfortable and welcomed during your stay and not get skimped on what you pay for, I would not recommend this hostel!

Unfortunately due to the photos etc I was under the expectation that this was more of a hotel than a hostel, but I was wrong. The common areas and location was beautiful, however the rooms in the guest house were awful- unclean, shabby and had a tiny light source/ one plug outlet which is too high up so could only charge one thing that wouldn't fall out. The showers and toilets were disgusting and the kitchen area was unclean due to guests being required to wash dishes. Also not very covid safe due to guests huddled around the kitchen constantly/. This hostel could be excellent if the owners clean up and refurbish some areas due to the great location and terrace. I also booked a yoga class in the morning, to which the teacher never turned up! She ignored us as she eventually came down having overslept by an hour or so. Unfortunately, I was glad to have only stayed one night.

So, I don’t know where to begin. I’ve been traveling as a digital nomad for almost 5 years and I never complain about a single thing. But this… I have never seen something like this in my entire life, istg.
We just arrived here and we noticed immediately something didn’t feel right. After just 1 HOUR of being here, I was already being insulted twice by the owner. Let me explain.
Without a proper tour around the hostel, we put our bags in our room and starting cooking dinner. I took a break in front of the hostel (open air) to smoke a cigarette. We already smoked a few there but this time the owner came up to me and started yelling at me with the words: what the f*ck are you doing, how st*pid can you be’.
I was pretty shocked because I haven’t met this dude and he just started yelling and insulting me. I told him calmly that we didn’t get a proper tour and that I didn’t know there was a specific smoking area. I already went outside of the hostel because that’s just common sense. Instead of coming towards me and asking: hey do you stay here? You unfortunately can’t smoke here but we have a specific smoking area could you please go there?
No, he came towards me extremely aggressively and calling me stupid and an idiot. I said that I would go stand somewhere else (in the open air) and he said: no are u st*pid, otherwise leave my property.
I even asked where the smoking area was because yeah, how do I know? He didn’t even explain properly and just walked away.
What a … I am the person who writes good reviews if it’s good, and if it’s not that good, I will write that as well as a feedback so they can take that into account. But this is the FIRST review I started writing immediately to warn other travelers.
He clearly doesn’t give a fvck about his guests. Only about the money. I requested a refund for the remaining nights since it wasn’t my fault at all, and of course not. So, There are so many other beautiful hostels here in the area but because everything was full, we booked this one, unfortunately.
I am telling you, as a person who travels on a daily basis all around the world, don’t come here. It’s not worth your money AT ALL.

My worst stay in Costa Rica. The walls are open so I would only recommend staying at this place if you like large insects and bats flying through your room. Also, there were little brown "grains" on my pillow and in my bed that fell from the ceiling all night (I thought they were eggs from an insect). I didn't sleep all night. The hostel was aware of this disgusting stuff falling on my bed, but didn't warn me in advance. Nor did they provide me a refund. Oh let's not forget that the owner "did not have time" to speak to me the next morning because he was having breakfast and was "too busy".

Staying in this hostel is an incredible experience. It is like a huge tree house with incredible views of the jungle. The rooms upstairs have little to no privacy as the walls are made of wood logs, but the owner warned us in advance are we were fine with it. It was worth it for the views. The owner is extremely helpful and always has a smile on her face. Highly recommend

We normally don’t go to hostels, but this one got good ratings and seemed very nice so we decided to give it a shot!
And it didn’t disappoint!
The people here all have the same attitude and it just has a very laidback and chill vibe, reception is very friendly as well.
We had a private room, so we can’t say anything about the shared dorms. But the rooms were nice!
We really liked our time here, the hostel itself has a very nice look
If you don’t have a car, the walk down to a grocery store is quite long..
There is a small (private) waterfall nearby which is nice, but you have to pay for it (of course because it’s Costa Rica) and the water is very cold!
Ps. The forest around the hostel is FILLED with Cicadidae, they make very very loud noises during the day, and go on a kamikaze mission during the night to anything that gives light, just something to keep in mind…
