This small hotel is located directly on the beach of Jambiani, excellent location but unfortunately the beach is inaccessible due to the tides or at least not suitable for swimming, the rooms are ok nothing special but they are without air conditioning and with the heat and you can't stay wet at all, the bathroom constantly smells damp, there is no hot water and several times we could not take a shower because there was no cold one, we paid for half board and they even charged us for simple bottles of water served at dinner plus wifi didn't work even in the bar. Experience not to be redone.

This place is paradise. One of the rare remaining genuine Zanzibar beach front setup in Jambiani. You get to sleep to the calming sound of ocean waves every night. Amazing food prepared by local folks with locally sourced food - free range chicken and eggs, fresh sea food catch, the sweetest fruit on Unguja. Just get in pole pole gear and enjoy the ride. Thanks Kiddo!

We had an absolutely incredible stay from start to finish!! The driver picked us up at the Zanzibar airport and upon arrival to Mango, we were greeted kindly by the staff with delicious fruit juice. The property felt like a dream ... how could such a haven possibly exist!! The rooms are clean and comfortable, equipped with nice private bathrooms. The cafe on property has delicious complimentary breakfast and an unending menu of snacks, lunch, dinner and drinks (alcoholic and non) available all day! The staff are incredibly knowledgeable of the island and all the activities/excursions that are available; willing and available to take care of reservations and transportation. There is beach access just steps away from the property that opens you up to miles of beach that are filled with additional shops/restaurants to explore without needing to get into a car. At the Zanzibar airport the ATM ate my bank card, very unfortunate, but Kiddo (the owner) went to great lengths to be sure I got my card back from the local bank in town before leaving the island. Above and BEYOND customer service. The absolute most perfect oasis tucked off the coast of beautiful Africa.

We really enjoyed our 4 nights, so far it's been best place for us on our 2week journey. Mattresses could've been better, but you only stay in the room night time so no prob. It's quiet place for really enjoying holiday, good local restaurants nearby (check Stone culture)!

My wife and me stayed in Mango Beach house for a week and we liked the place, however there were things we would have liked to found in better conditions. The locations was just what we were looking for: by the sea and in Jambiani, a quiet village in the South of Zanzibar. The accommodation was decent, however some of the furniture, sunbeds, parasols and other bungalows were clearly in need of renovation and improvement. There were places nearby in Jambiani offering better or newer conditions for a stay. The staff was really nice and the restaurant in the Beach House was decent, however we found better options for lunch/dinner in the proximity. Kido, the owner, was very approachable and attentive with any of our needs during our stay. Overall, an ok place to stay, however now that I have tried Mango beach house, I'd rather try somewhere else next time I'm in Zanzibar.

We just returned from 2 weeks stay in Mango Beach House. We had deluxe double room ( the one below the king suit one which is huge )- African style, very basic but just perfect for our needs. I was actually hoping to get the room by the water ( 2 other double rooms )but when I saw them- they are actually very small so for our 2 weeks stay they would not be comfortable enough. The rooms are actually very dark so not suitable for reading ( unless you have kindle ) but you don't spend any time inside as such an amazing relaxing area is waiting in the garden just next to the ocean- sun beds, hammocks , white sand, palm trees, birds...Robinson Crusoe paradise !. This place is actually in the middle of normal every day Jambiani life so you can watch all day women farming seaweed, men fishing, dhaws sailing, children playing football etc etc. Yes- some days there is a shortage of water or electricity and wifi is only working in cafe area but this is a part of adventure, this is Africa and not everything is up to European standards . Please come open minded and you will not be disappointed. Kiddo explained to us that if there is no water in our place there is no water in the village and this is a real problem for the local community. This place is perfect for recharging batteries but not with electricity, but with warm weather, warm ocean, amazing beach and great people from Jambiani. Kiddo, Kristina , Dula and others- thank you so much for wonderful stay and please, please look after Mischa- she is an amazing dog-just needs more attention from everyone :)

We stayed there for three nights. We had the kings suite. We really enjoyed the nice welcome drink at kiddos caffe. The staff there is super friendly and this we appreciated very much. the breakfast was good with fresh fruits and for instance Müsli. The garden is awesome with beds from where you can watch the sunrise. The beach is with lots of shells. Some fishers boats are in front of the resort. What we did not like much was that there was no electricity and therefore no light, no hot water, and so on for several hours from 8 pm on one day. The internet was not working several times during our stay. Furthermore the water supply also stopped for 10 hours. As we were traveling with small children and paid around 120€ per night this is absolutely not okay! Next to the house there is a construction. On the last night they started to work there until 4am. Horrible!

A very nice hotel right on the beach. We tried two different rooms both very good. Pillows needs updating. Great breakfast. Kiddo is a great host and makes sure that all is good. I can only recommended staying at this hotel. Cheap and good.

We stayed at a nearby place and visited one evening only for dinner. First impression was good, place looked charming and relaxed, the staff seemed nice and beers were cold Unfortunately the food we got was definitely the worst meal in our 16 days on the island. They did not have the few things that were our first choices, which is absolutely fine and expected, especially during low season (last week of May). They said they have prawns so we went with that. From the moment the smell of half rotten seafood started spreading from the kitchen we started to doubt our decision to eat here. The grilled prawns we got were obviously so very far from fresh, smelled awful and were half disintegrated. Only reason I am giving it a POOR and not TERRIBLE rating is the fact that we did not actively complain to the staff so I take responsibility in that part. It was our first meal out of our hotel and we did not know how common something like this is on Zanzibar given lower-than-western standards. We are the type of guests that have a really hard time complaining on the service and try to justify any lack of it. In the following two weeks we ate from local village restaurants to expensive foreign places and absolutely never got anything but the most fresh and tasty seafood so now I am sure that the dinner we got at Mango Beach House was far below usual Zanzibar standards. This was also the only place the staff did not ask how it was so I am certain they also knew what they were serving. The prices were also on the high end so I really can not justify this level of service and were motivated do leave this review.
