Last minute booking as our other accommodation fell through. Two rooms - double and family room (three beds). Both en-suite. Cheap and perfect for what we needed which was an overnight stay on the way to Kruger. No self catering facilities ( room had a small fridge and coffee making facilities ) but hosts let us use the kitchen for making our supper.

We called Lydenburg Guesthouse a mere 2 hours before we arrived to enquire about room availability. The telephone operator was very friendly and assured us that she had a room available. The price was very affordable. When we arrived, a friendly gentleman came out to greet us at the car and escorted us to the office. He then took us to our room, and asked whether we required any info on restaurants etc in the area. All in all, the service was excellent. The room itself was clean, tidy and definitely up to guesthouse standard at first sight. There were two small things that bothered a little bit; my bedside lamp didn't have a two point plug adaptor so I couldn't plug it in, and there was no space in the bathroom where I could place my clothes / toiletries bag etc while showering or whilst applying my make up. The big problem was unfortunately that the mattress that we slept on was of poor quality. It is very soft and worn out, to the extent that one constantly has the feeling that one is going to roll off the bedside throughout the night. Because of that, my spouse had a very restless night whereas I, being a bit lighter, did sleep a bit but not much. I must add that we are of average weight; him 100kg and me 80kg. Other than that, I would definitely return once the mattress has been replaced or if we could get a different room with a firmer / stronger mattress. This guesthouse certainly has a lot of potential and I want to thank them for their hospitality.

We stayed there for one night while attending a wedding in the area. The place is clean and nicely decorated but what really amazed me was the service, the lady at reception really went out of her way to help and accommodate us, arranging a camp cot and steaming bottles in the microwave for our daughter. Excellent value for money. Should I ever need accommodation in the area again, I will definitely be back and would definitely advise others to visit the guesthouse as well.

Super friendly hosts - we were greeted with doughnuts. Room a bit small but with all the conveniences you'd expect. They serve a great breakfast. The place to sleep if you are in the area. Also close to Mashishing parkrun

I had to find a place within 15 minutes while I was in Lydenburg on 10 January around 21:00. As usual I took to the net and Lydenburg Guesthouse appeared to be reasonable but kinda unbelievable at R600 per room. I arrived at the Guesthouse around 21:30, Amanda the owner was kind to welcome & checked us in. She has so much passion with guests and that is another reason I will return, and most certainly recommend to anyone who asks for my opinion. Well done Amanda.
