First things first, the breakfast here is off the charts good. Plate after plate of delicious hand made food is brought out until you cannot fit any more in. The breakfast setting is wonderful too where there is a single communal table at which you get to know other travelers over your feast. Secondly, the host Alcino makes this place... More

We booked two nights and ended up staying five, we just couldn't leave... Alcino is a trusting and exceptional host, he just made us feel at home. Relationship with the guests is totally based on trust. The house is beautiful, the room (suite) is large, comfortable and perfect to the smallest detais (lots of elctricity sockets, place for hanging towels... More

We read a ton of good reviews on this hotel, and just as the reviews said, the breakfast was good. But there was hair in the sink of the bathroom, and you had to crouch down to spend any time in anything besides the bathroom.

Despite all the good reviews, unfortunately we had a bad experience with the Estalagem Alcino. In summary, the place lacks professionalism and despite saying that confirmed our booking, didn't do so. We ended up without a place to stay over our last night at Lencois. First we tried to contact them and request a room reservation through the web form... More

Breakfast, obvs, is beyond. It really is an experience, culinary and cultural (since you may be sharing your table with any number of other nationalities, which could be a potential sticking point depending on who you end up sitting next to, and how piggy they are). Even if you arrive late though (which, for the early-rising trekking crowd, means 8:30... More

We stayed overnight on our way between Vale do Capão and Salvador. Our only regrets were 1) we didn't stay longer 2) we had to catch the 07.30 bus and so missed breakfast. We were captivated by the charm of the house and gardens, and really liked Alcino the owner. He was very welcoming and seemed happy to spend time... More

We stayed at Alcino's Estalagem in October and would highly recommend it. The hotel is located close to the centre of town, but just across the river so it's very quiet in that area. Alcino and his staff do everything they can to look after you, and it's wonderful to be in a house which has been built and decorated... More

I read so many great reviews about this pousada, so we spent 1 night there while visiting Chapada Diamantina. There is a lot of character and wonderful artistic touches associated with the building and it is very centrally located (yet out of the main bustle of the town square). Our room had a slanted roof and was filled with beds... More

This place was perfect on all counts. Not only is the place incredibly beautifully built and designed (to even the smallest handmade tiles and details), but the food was orgasmic and the staff were beyond lovely. We had a difficult time leaving breakfast each morning to go on tours because our gracious hosts just kept putting more and more food... More

The result of having an artist owner with studio within the premises is a beautifully decorated interior and informal way of doing things. The artist even helps makes a super delicious and healthy breakfast with local ingredients, perfect before a long day's hike. Cannot recommend this place enough one of the best we stayed in during our 3-week trip in... More
