We stayed at the Chicanna Eco Village for just one night, but that was enough to convince us that it was not particularly good, although I suspect it thinks it is better than average. The rooms were sparse to say the least and so not very welcoming. It was rather strange that there were air conditioning units in the rooms,... More

Beautiful grounds, good (but slightly excessive) service, AWFUL food. A good portion of what got served (after about an hour of a wait) was from a can. We were so disappointed with it, and barely ate any of it. It was a complete waste of money for the meals. The rooms were nice and clean.

We have been to Eco village for 1 night while headinf from Calakmul Archeological zone to Belize. Eco Village is really nice spot to spend 1 -2 nights while exploring pyramids and mayan cities in the region. Calakmul is one of the highlights but you need a full day for the trip so the eco village is a good base.... More

The lodge grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The rooms themselves are a tiny bit dated, but super clean and comfortable. It's not like there's a crazy amount of wildlife around, and everything is "manicured," but you still can enjoy a variety of birds to view. And after a long day's drive/hike around Calakmul, you can't beat coming back to... More

This is definitely a great hotel especially when visiting calakmul and you do not want to stay in one of the cities 2 hours away from the site. The only inconvenience is that it was ECO which i think this means no air conditioning and television or open wifi. Other then that it was nice to be in nature.

This is a boring place and a boring hotel. I tried to order coffee in the afternoon but the waiter told me they could only prepare it after 6.30 p.m. which was a bit strange. There were no towels because they were in the laundry in Chetumal which is also a bit odd. Listening to the animals and having a... More

I stayed at the Chicanná just out of Xpujil for two nights. I would have given the hotel three stars if it hadn't been for the circumstances under which I left - you seem to have to watch your valuables there. The service was okay in the beginning, the staff friendly but sadly not very helpful with tours in the... More

I had booked a night in this resort after reading a lot of reviews and considering all the options in that area. I figured worse case we would only be there for one night and if our room was uncomfortable it wouldn't be the end of the world. But both my wife and I enjoyed our stay. The room was... More

This is an ecco hotel. Even the soap is organic. You can stay in twin huts, or two storey huts and enjoy reading In a "varanda" when the night aproaches. After dinner You are invaded by a enormous desire to sleep, as the sounds of the forest invite You to. In the morning you'll find yourself relaxed...deeply relaxed. May be... More

Place is ok, if a bit overpriced. I found staff very friendly and helpful. I had an issue with double booking and they were very flexible and helpful in solving the issue. Rooms are clean, rustic but functional. There is only WiFi up at the reception. Saw many with kids and there is an ok pool. Restaurant is unpretentious and... More
