I loved this hotel for our relaxed family holiday. The pool view was second to none. The swim-up bar kept me there for long mornings where I didn’t want to leave the hotel! The rooms were lovely. Views were excellent all over the hotel and the ‘partial’ sea view was most definitely not partial! The restaurant food was beautiful, though a little pricey in relation to other local options. The staff were attentive and generous in the evenings, the bar cocktails very good and served with lots of nibbles. Breakfast was good but service in the mornings not as attentive. Reception staff were excellent. Local transport good. This is not the top of five star in terms of details, but definitely deserving of five star as a whole relaxing experience. Not a lively spot, this is all about chilling out. I would love to return here!…
The worst thing for a hotel customer, in my opinion, is going to a hotel thinking it has an specific number of stars and once there it is clear that it has less. It is not honest. I am not saying that I only go to 5-star hotels. Totally the opposite. I usually go to 4-star hotels and sometimes 3-star. But sometimes when I feel a bit indulgent and decide to go for a 5-star hotel, I want to receive the quality I paid for. Raito claim their hotel is a 5-star hotel and clearly is not. Some examples. The lobby is ugly. Totally dated, old and with a bad taste decor. The corridor to the rooms has some old, stained carpets. The room is dated as well. Not stylish at all. The bathroom old and rusty. The elevator is awful. They have a very bad shuttle service. You have to reserve the spaces, and they ran out fast. So if you didn’t catch one reservation, which is frequent, you should pay for a taxi because it’s very far from downtown and there are no sidewalks on the street. Therefore, you could go walking but literally ON the street (quite dangerous). I can’t believe I paid almost €500 a night for this hotel. I would have stay there very happy knowing that it is a 4-star hotel and with something around €200 a night rate. That would be fair for this hotel.…
We stayed, unfortunatelly, only for the weekend. The Hotel is majestic and it's top quality in all it's aspects. The room was fantastic, with a wonferful view on the Salerno bay. The staff was always very gentle and professional, with a touch of the "sothern warmth" that made us feel at ease. Everything was top level, starting with the wonderful swimming pool (sea view), continuing with the food, and the cleanliness of the rooms. We took the ferries from Vietri sul mare and we wandered to several spots in the Costiera Amalfitana. A dream.
Pros: The location and view were great! Excellent breakfast, friendly staff, good shuttle service... Cons: Not a 5-star hotel! The room was outdated and tiny! The shower was so small and there was no bathroom vent! The internet almost never worked!
This hotel is an excellent choice if you are looking for a fabulous hotel away from the craziness of the Amalfi coast. My room was spotlessly clean, bed was comfortable and the view was amazing. The pool is worth the trip - again with a stunning view, plenty of lounge chairs and a swim up bar. The lunch restaurant was spectacular serving pizza, salads and the best grilled seafood. If you want to visit the Amalfi coast, you can take the free shuttle to town and catch the coastal ferry. The only negative thing about the hotel is the weak internet.
We stayed for 3 nights while enjoying the wedding of a daughter's friend at the hotel. Our whole experience was delightful. I just could not see the justification for several negative comments in the past, about this hotel. They must have put things right. Our only complaint was the internet which was poor. Otherwise, the service is professional and friendly, and the food in the restaurant was so good that we ate there twice. The food at the wedding was also excellent. The outdoor pool is delightful set in beautiful landscaping on the hillside with a wonderful view over the bay. We plan to return.
Don’t listen to the other reviews! Hotel Raito was an amazing experience for a family trip! The entire staff was very accommodating and the views from our rooms were breathtaking. The rooms and bathrooms were on the smaller side but we spent most of the day away from the hotel exploring all the Amalfi Coast has to offer. The location is not very walkable but the hotel has a shuttle to take you into the small town and you can set up cars to take you to surrounding cities. The breakfast each morning was amazing and had so many options for even picky eaters. The pool was perfect and the pool bar was great! I saw some people comment that there wasn’t a kettle in the room but, coming from the States, that’s not something common in our hotels so that was not an issue. (we usually have coffee makers) If you enjoy being immersed in the Southern Italian culture and don’t mind having to take a car to most convenient locations (Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, Naples, etc), then I would give Hotel Raito a chance!…
We stayed at the Hotel Raito as a part of a small group tour of the Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. Overall, the hotel was an enjoyable place to stay. Nicely appointed rooms, friendly staff, and good food (including a large assortment of breakfast items at the breakfast buffet). There also was a small bar area for drinks or espresso. On the minus side, there wasn't much that you could walk to from the hotel, but the hotel did provide a free shuttle service to/from Vietre sul Mare. I would have liked to have had a tea kettle in my room, but I understand that this is not the custom in Italy.
Don’t listen to all the Karen’s and Darren’s of the world. Hotel was lovely, staff were lovely and helpful and the restaurant was very nice too. The season is from mid April onwards so if you don’t do your research and book out of season, expect what you’re going to get. Staff by the pool were friendly and a constant help with local recommendations. The walk into town is long and I wouldn’t advise it but they do put on a free scheduled shuttle to and from throughout the day. Stop moaning all the time and enjoy your holiday!
What can I saw apart from awful. Unhelpful staff who only want your money and couldn’t care less about you Our travel plans changed and they couldn’t care less about the problem we had just kept asking for our money Swimming pool was empty I asked to be shown around the spa and they said ‘NO’ unless you pay €25 to go in Asked for an upgrade to a sea view and was told there wasn’t any so we went on booking site and found they were available they just couldn’t be bothered with the paperwork. Breakfast eggs and other hot food looked like it had been there for a week No coffee, tea or complimentary water available in your room I would rate 0 if I could DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY LIKE WE DID!!!!!!
