Stayed at Marathon Hotel for a week august 2022 on an All Inclusive stay in a family room with my familiy of four. We were lucky with the location of the room in the top floor close to the pool. Had a bunk bed for the kids with the barrier for the top bunk missing, but this was fixed with the help of the reseptionist quite quickly. The room it self is quite small, especially for 4 persons. Let`s cut to the core; the food is bad, not at all what I expect when in Greece. The restautrant was more like a cafeteria, one with staff shortage and acoustics from hell - First time ever using my Apple Airpods Pro while dining with the family... The food was bad and without any kind of variation. Taste was good but presentation bad. There was always a line for the drinks with one guy serving all breakfast/dinner guests. There where often plates missing, cups missing, cutlery...all in all it seems like the administration of the hotel has cut back on staff too hard. The staff members are doing ther best but are treading water. Pool bar - Same here...always a line. One person serving everyone. Another thing with the drinks; it`s not Coca Cola etc, it some sort of cheap alternative. Same with the beer, and the wine. It seems to be watered down. One shinging start at the Marathon Hotel - The pizza guy serving very good pizza during daytime at the pool. Perfect! Rhodes is great, the people are great and the food is great - Just not at Marathon Hotel (except the pizza guy).…
A wonderful hotel with idyllic settings and warm, welcoming team members. The food was outstanding with fresh, local produce and every meal was delicious from breakfast through to dinner via the poolside gyros. The hotel is close to a few bars and restaurants if you feel like a short walk. There are shops to get souvenirs, snacks and clothes if you need too. Special shout outs to Vassilis, Michalis, Claudia and Giannis. You made us feel so special and look forward to seeing you again soon. Simply outstanding!
I visited the hotel with low expectations. After my visit, i changed my mind and my experience there was very good and i left satisfied. its an amazing and a hood hotel, perfect for family. It has cozy and wealthy rooms, including even a fridge! The A/C works perfect, and the rooms are always in the perfect temperature. The staff there was good, always smiley and always available to serve you. I want to give Mr. Giannis a special THANK YOU, because that man is a true worker. He makes the gyros and the pizza in the all inclusive section. His pizza is one of the best i ever tasted and im not even joking. Something about it’s dough makes the pizza special and super tasty. After all i recommend visiting Rhodes and marathon!
Lovely 2 weeks with family Food is good Hotel is clean and tidy The staff are very good and work very hard. The Manager made us feel very welcome and went out of his way to make sure everything was ok Hotel is in perfect location for beach, shops and restaurants Would return in future
In July I spent a beautiful vacation at this hotel. Everything was wonderful, the accommodation, the food, the staff were kind and attentive to our needs. I can confidently recommend this hotel. Thank you to the hotel staff and manager
Great family holiday of 10 days. A stone's throw from a beach served with a choice of sand or gravel and spendid sea. In the evening you are in the midst of clubs and shopping. Perfect hotel with all inclusive and if you have a problem: ask to the manager Vasilis and he solves it.
Really enjoyed our stay here- nice room, great food and drinks. The manager made us feel very welcome and staff were also very friendly. In a great location with plenty of bars nearby and just a short walk to the beach. Would definitely recommend.
First we arrived and was greeted amazingly Staff very kind Breakfast lunch and dinner very nice good pizza bar is amazing Plenty activity’s Very clean hotel Reccomend the apartment amazing views from the balcony
Nice hotel with great staff. Wood oven pizza is really good, but busy. I would recommend this hotel for families and friends definitely. Apartment has a great view out and really adds to the holiday. Lots of activities to do in the hotel and the local area, with pool tables, ping pong etc.
To start off, we have really been considering many al inclusive hotels and according to the reviews this was meant to be a very nice place ( reviews before 2020). We arrived at the hotel after 22:00 and were greeted nicely by Agnieszka and were told that they have Gyros available until late that we can still eat. When we got there, there was a queue of 5 people and we were told to wait for some time as the machines weren't working properly. When it was our time for the order, I asked to have ketchup instead of Tatziki due to the allergy when I was told that they only do Gyros in a traditional way and started the phrase *I don't* then looked back at the people waiting behind and didn't say a word after. You probably realise now that he was meant to say *I don't care* right? We thought that was very rude but we were so tired that didn't want to argue with anyone. As now mentioned, one person from the booking is lactose intolerant and when confirming the booking we have sent the request to have some lactose free products e.g. milk for breakfast. When I got to the breakfast I asked for milk alternatives after wondering around and not seeing anything, however was told that they don't have any. Luckily, there were shops nearby that had some alternatives, and as you may guess for every single breakfast I was coming there with my own milk in al inclusive 4 star hotel... About the food varieties, the hotel was fully booked having only 2 tables with meals, 1 grill stand, 1 stand with cooking pasta normally, and another table with desserts and fruits. First of all, you could never tell what the dish was as there were no cards with the names or when there were they didnt specify what is inside the dish so you really had to either guess yourself or ask somebody from the members of staff. The food was getting cleared from the dishes were quickly however was not replenished on time because of the VERY POOR and SMALL selection and the hotel being FULLY BOOKED. So, if you have any allergy, simply want to know want you are going to be eating, or want to eat at least something, I am not sure if this is the right place for you. This was not the problem only with me due to the intolerance, but also other people from the booking who were never picky with food, there just was nothing to eat in general, apart from the watermelon which we have noticed that EVERYBODY was eating. P.S. there is a nice and cheap place called ZEUS nearby with amazing Gyros for £2. Now, the funny part. After the first night we noticed that we had BITES on our bodies, we thought those were from mosquitoes, even though the balcony and bathroom window were closed and we havent' seen any of them at all. We went to buy the spray from them and also used the olive oil with Lemon as mosquitoes don't like citruses. After the second night, we had the same problem.. On day three in the evening we didn't go outside and went straight to bed to check pictures from the trip so far etc, and having been in bed for only around 2 hours we got NEW BITES! Obviously by then we have done research and it was looking like there were bedbugs or fleas but definitely not the mosquitoes as we haven't found even one during our stay there. We went straight to the reception to speak about our concerns and that we didn't want to stay in that room for any longer and that we wanted a new room. First of all, the person at the reception, started saying that he can't do anything for us, hardly even listening to our concerns. Second of all, when we started to ask him what is the solution to the problem, he started to ask *What you want?*. Anyways, we ended up phoning somebody and asking us in the meantime where we come from. Now, how is that related? That's the question we asked him 5 times with him not answering the question and just shaking his shoulders and keeping asking us where we come from. He also tried to say that we are sisters and that's why we both were getting bites. The situation ended up with 2 men coming downstairs, and us going to check the room together for any insects or mosquitoes as they said. None of them found anything and due to the hotel being fully booked they offered us to sleep at the BASEMENT ( I assume staff can stay there from time to time?) but we really didn't care as we just didn't want to sleep in the room we were before. We agreed and went to that room just for the night and were told that in the morning we'd get a new room for us and the old room would get inspected as there is definitely something wrong with it because of both of us having bites and nobody seeing anything there (mosquitoes). In the morning when we wake up trying to stand up we see a frog jumping... not the nicest feeling after having bites and not sleeping properly... Later on when we mentioned about the frog, they just laughed at the reception.. In the morning, when we went to ask what time we can go to a new room they said the time roughly and asked us to pack our stuff so that we can transfer our things quickly and they can get the room for the new arrivals. NEW ARRIVALS WHEN THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ROOM??? you will ask.. but yes, new people went to that room and obviously nobody did anything to find the problem.. We were moved to the room on the same floor but just 2 rooms forward, which again does not make any sense as they are very close to each other.. We came back from the trip and are waiting for the Doctor's appointments to get seen... after a 4 star AL INCLUSIVE HOTEL. As other reviews mention, we don't know how this hotel got 4 stars at all, 2 the most... It is really up to you to make your assumption on this hotel, but we will not be back and from now on we only will be considering the popular hotels like Hilton etc because of the BITES... P.S. we would like to say a big thank you to Agnieszka and Ateriks as if not them our experience would be much much worse...…
