We stayed at the Akti Imperial at the beginning of May 2022 for 1 week. Overall this is a good quality hotel, however there are some pros and cons. Pros: 1. Standard of rooms and the hotel in general is very good. It seems quite new or newly refurbished. 2. Food in the main restaurant was very good and quite varied. 3. Staff were friendly and genuinely provided good service. 4. Standard of the rooms was good and there is a complimentary mini bar which is re-stocked daily. Cons: 1. It's windy! We've read elsewhere that the location is renowned for being windy. It was!! There were parts of pool area that were just too cold to sit in. 2. The bar and communal areas are very cold and corporate (they resemble an airport terminal!) with nothing to really do in the evening. If you're not planning on going out in the evening, then it's probably not for you. 3. Towels! For such a grand hotel, the quality of the towels provided is awful. Very thin and harsh. The hotel is located on a main road and you do get road noise in the rooms (maybe amplified when it's windy). We were on the 8th floor. Rhodes town is a 8 Euro taxi journey or a very long walk. One slight niggle. We wanted to keep our room a little later on our departure day. We put our names on a waiting list, but were told the day before it wasn't possible. Then 30 minutes before vacating the room were then told we could keep it. We wanted the room to enable a late night, the night before so that was ruined and we clearly could have kept the room later. This process should be much easier!…
Room Modern, spacious and plenty of storage. Slightly annoying that our room contained 2 single beds rather than a double. Mini bar stocked each day, which was a nice touch. Our room didn't have a great view, but we were too tight to pay for the sea view (lol). Food/Bars Main buffet restaurant wasn't amazing, but it had to cater for a lot of people and contained food from many cuisines so there was a lot of choice, but the quality was lacking. Poolside snack bars were great, the pizza was a particular highlight for me. A great option for a quick lunch whilst lounging around the pool. Red Elephant - this asian themed restaurant had a 7 course tasting menu which was was tasty and varied. It also made a nice change to be served. Meat & Fish grill - decent enough but not out of this world. We had similar food from a restaurant in Rhodes town which was far superior. The main bar next to the lobby was quick clinical and soulless. It offered table service only and service was quite slow on a couple of occasions. Could do with more entertainment in this room, as well as some more ambient lighting. Other a la carte restaurants were available but we couldn't get booked into them as you could only book 2 at a time. Food was available around the clock which was handy, as we visited the main restaurant late at night on a couple of occasions. Pool/Entertainment There were always loungers available around the pool, although I'd recommend getting up a bit earlier to secure the best ones. The entertainment team were good fun and provided us with a few laughs, including the bingo, quiz and darts tournament. Gym We were impressed when we booked that there was an on-site gym but the equipment was a little outdated and some of the machines weren't operating. I think this would have been a great feature if the equipment was updated. Staff Warm, helpful, friendly. Lift The lift situation was a bit of a joke. There was always 1 that wasn't working and you'd often be waiting in the lobby for some time before one arrived. Making the stairs available to use would have benefited us as we were only on the second floor but spend about 10% of our holiday waiting for lifts.…
Just got back from a weeks visit to this hotel with my partner. I could not recommend it enough, the hotel is catered for all ages, clean, friendly amazing staff that cant do enough for you, from bar staff to restaurant, to reception and entertainment staff. Lots to do in hotel from activities, games rooms, sports, escape rooms, shopping, cinema etc! You can't get bored here! Food is fantastic, and can have access to food 24/7, something for even the fussiest of eaters! Main restaurant offers buffet of a wide selection of different foods at breakfast lunch and dinner and also pool bars offer different foods during the day including Gyros, pizzas, pastas, salads, burgers etc. Along with lots more choice. We visited the asian and also the fish and meat a la carte restaurants, make sure you go in hungry!! 7 course of small plates, delicious!! There are also other 2 (possibly 3) A'la carte restaurants including greek and italian but we didnt try these! The drinks on offer were also amazing, branded spirits, wine, cocktails lovely (including lots of popular choices, mojitos, pina coladas etc) and beer refreshing and cold! (Also a range of soft drinks obviously too !!) Rooms are perfect, clean, modern and wonderful views. Mini bar included in all inclusive, topped up daily, with soft drinks, beers and bottle of white and red wine, along with kettle and selection of hot drinks. Safe is also included in the room at no extra charge. Lots to do surrounding hotel too, beach is just an underground passage straight from the hotel direct to beautiful beach. Lots of nearby shops, bars and restaurants if needed. Pharmacy and supermarkets close by, (if you need suncream or anything similar id advise going to these and not the shop in the hotel as we found a lot cheaper!!) Selection of pools to choose from, quieter to livelier depending on what you prefer and of course childrens pool. Bars and restaurants all close by to each pool. Plenty of sunbeds no matter what time we went down, in sunshine and shade. Overall a fantastic hotel and would 100% visit again in the future. Thank you 😄…
We've just got back from our stay at the Akti Imperial in Rhodes and i have to say that we have had a good time. This review is unbiased and i feel totally fair. Location - Ixia is located just a short distance from Rhodes town on the north of the island. Its approximately half an hour from the airport. You can see Turkey from ixia. The Hotel. Check In - This was smooth and easy and the staff were very friendly. The reception area is very clean and modern. There is a cash point just to the left as you come in and the area where the reps sit is to the right of reception. The Room - We were given room 465. The rooms are nice with all the normal amenities (mini bar, tv, phones, decent wardrobe space, safe, tea/coffee making facilities etc) and are cleaned daily. The bathroom is nice and modern. My only complaint with the room is the bathroom door which is glass and although frosted you can still see what's going on. This toilet door theme is even used in the public toilets throughout the hotel. If you like to do your biz in privacy, well you wont get much of it. Our room also had a balcony with a partial view of the sea and this was nice. Free wifi is available throughout the hotel. Food - I've seen a lot of mixed reviews on here, mostly good but some bad, on the food. My experience was the food was exceptional every night. The main restaurant is a self service place where you can get a wide variety of foods ranging from salads, oriental, fish, loads of different meat options, pizzas, burgers the lot. All of it is hot, none of it is luke warm and you can have something different every night. There's loads of stuff for desert as well. This is also the place where you have breakfast which again is brilliant and there's lots of choice. I had no problems with this place. It has lots of seating which is good because it gets very busy. Red Elephant Asian Restaurant - I was looking forward to eating here and although it wasn't bad, it wasn't as good as I'd hoped. It was a set menu with several courses, 2 of which i couldn't eat due to allergies which wasn't their fault. But because the menu was set i couldn't order an alternative. The food here was ok for a for a free meal but if id have been paying for it i wouldn't have been that happy. Again the staff were friendly and courteous and helped where they could. Meat and Fish restaurant - Another set menu but this time the quality was a lot better than that of the Asian meal the night before. The mixed grill was superb and again the staff were brilliant, especially with my son. Marco Polo Italian - Probably the best of the 3 themed restaurants we ate in. The food was superb. And a special shout out to Raphael who waited on us this night and also in the Asian. He was full of fun and we had some good banter. People like this are what make your holiday memorable. Pool Bar near the stage (i cant remember the name of it). This served food from 12pm onwards and it was standard fare. Pizzas cooked right in front of you, plus other choices of salads, meats etc. All of good quality, always hot and always plenty of it. You could also get lots of fresh fruit here and this was also the place you got your drinks from. Coffee bar inside - Serves a mix of hot and cold, soft and alcoholic drinks as well as pastries/snacks. Good quality if you want to sit out of the sun it's the place to go. My overall opinion of the food is that is was very good. In fact there are some here who are making it out to be far worse that the reality of it. I've no idea what standards people set on places but considering how busy it was, even at the beginning of May, i think they do an exceptional job of doing the food. Get over yourselves people, this isn't a Michelin Starred Raymon Blanc restaurant. Drinks - Every drink i had was very nice. I especially liked the local beer. The cocktails were also very nice. Yes, if you are outside then for safety reasons they provide them in cardboard (not polystyrene as some people have been suggesting - seriously, fact check yourselves before you post) cups, which makes total sense. Anyone leaving their drinks long enough for them to ruin the cup should really be drinking quicker, regardless if that drink is a coke or a pina colada. I had no problem with any of my cups. If you want your drinks in glasses you go to the main bar in the hotel, which again, makes sense to anyone but an idiot!!! Entertainment - We took our four year old on holiday abroad for the first time and we didn't know how he would react to his sleep patterns being changed. We did indeed go and watch some of the evening entertainment laid on by the team. The film quiz on the Thursday night was brilliant and so much fun. My son was in bits with laughter every time i charged to the front with an answer. Good concept well executed. The band on the Saturday night were musically very good but lacked energy and stage presence. I am a musician of 35 years and there is a difference between playing and performing and these guys could have done with putting some oompf into their performances for more entertainment. The acrobats on the Tuesday were good, with the added surprise of a firework display which my son absolutely loved. There was a kids disco every night (apart from the Saturday) at 8:30pm. Although my son didn't go on stage for it we had a great time singing along to the songs and doing the actions. I didn't really have a lot to do with the entertainment team personally, but on the few times i did chat with them they were very nice and engaging. They didn't pressurize us to do anything like some on here have suggested. I generally like to be left alone to do my own thing and they did leave us alone. But they were great entertainers. The Pools/Pool Areas - Outside the poos were very cold. This could be due to the time of year, but my son couldn't stay in them for long. Fortunately there is an indoor pool which was lovely and mostly empty, so we spent time in here. We had no problems getting any sunbeds at all. There were always some available in the sun. There are a few different pools and one childs splash pool, so a good mix for people. The beach - You can access the beach via an underpass from the hotel which is nice. The beach is very pebbly this side of the island, the other side of the island is worth visiting for the beaches for sure. Excursions - Not directly related to the hotel this one, but if you can get out and about i'd definitely recommend you go to the old town and the Grand Masters palace. This is an amazing place. Also, Tsambika beach is beautiful. Conclusion - This is one of the best places i've been to in my life (and i am exceptionally well travelled). Hotel, brilliant, food, brilliant, staff, brilliant. Akti Imperial you have made a friend with us and we will come back, i can promise you that. Just please, no Jane McDonald next time ok lol !!!!…
Stayed the first week of May. We were part of the ‘Jane McDonald’ group so from the airport the full coach were staying at the Akti. - check in took over an hour as it was after midnight and there was only two reception staff. Our suite on the top (9th) floor was massive with a separate bedroom, very clean - bit disappointed that we didn’t have any water to make a brew. There was an area over the fridge with a coffee machine and kettle but no plug socket! so we had to put it on the floor to brew up! The wardrobes were huge with a safe on the base but there were no drawers for swimwear/underwear so had to keep them in the case. In the morning we found that we had a side sea view from the double balcony which was lovely. The main restaurant has plenty of choice so even fussy eaters should find something. The main bar was very clinical and not very inviting - could do with some warmth adding. No issue finding a sun bed but they are not comfortable at all - my friend really struggled as there are no sun beds for disabled people. Most hotels have high sun beds which are easier to get on and off for people with mobility issues. All the staff we met were absolutely lovely. Sue, Jet2 rep, was brilliant, such a lovely lady.…
We on on our last day the holiday , want to cry cause it’s been such an amazing week , wow Wat an week it’s been , food is amazing , plenty of choice , hotel is spotlessly clean , rooms cleaned daily , excellent waiter services, plenty drinks to choose from , staff go above and beyond to make sure u have an amazing holiday , animation team are always very happy and do an amazing job to entertain everyone ov all ages , pool spotless clean and you will always get a sun bed as there is plenty for everyone. Snack bars are beautiful and always plenty to choose from , you must try there Greek kebabs , there a must , we will 100% be coming back
So we went to this hotel on Wednesday 4th May for a week all inclusive. Myself, my husband, our youngest son, my dad and a family friend. I must say a week before flying out i read some reviews, and they did make me a little anxious about visiting this hotel as they weren’t great reviews! Well im so glad this hotel proved those reviews wrong! Firstly i want to say a massive well done to all the staff! They are so friendly and cant do enough for you. They literally work so hard and all day! Special mentions to Denis from the entertainment team and Rafael who worked at the bar by the entertainment bit. Both these guys were so lovely and made us feel very welcome, as did the lady who welcomes u for breakfast, lunch and dinner, she was always so nice and always greeted us. The food was so good, if im honest there was too much choice 🤣 There was always something for everyone which was good. We was never hungry anyway lol. This is the first hotel ive been to that we didnt need to get up super early to reserve a sunbed. Always loads of beds when we went down about half 8, which was so nice. Our room was lovely, double bed, mountain view (slight sea view) and the shower was spot on! Always had hot water too which was great! The bed i thought was very comfy. The entertainment in the evening was great too, we found out on our last night that there’s actually 2 sets of entertainment, so the main area you hve entertainment for kids and adults, but if you go to the other side of the hotel, there’s actually more entertainment which i felt was more aimed at adults which was actually perfect! The band we saw was very good! The drinks here too were great, they had branded spirits which was included in the all inclusive which was great. The only downfall or negative i would say is by the pool and in the evenings if u go to the entertainment part, they serve drinks in paper cups, which i guess in a way is better, as in no smashed glasses etc, but it is better drinking from a glass lol, well tastes better lol, but that is my only negative on this hotel! We were so impressed we are actually booking this hotel again for next year, which we have never done lol. We always like to try new places, but this hotel really was amazing! You are close to the beach too and lovely walking distance to pubs and shops etc. Would honestly highly recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone! We all had the best time. We can’t wait to go back next May. Great hotel and great staff. Thank you Akti imperial for the best stay 😊…
Almost there but not quite. This is large, noisy, busy hotel which offers different pools, 2 outside bars, fantastic service , spotlessly clean throughout, food availability 24 hours a day, indoor pool, spa, gym, entertainments team , 4 themed restaurants, tennis court etc. . So why only 4 stars instead of 5? The main reason is only indoor bar. It is huge cavernous space with bright spotlights and cafeteria type furniture which resembles a staff canteen. It is the most unwelcoming hotel bar I have ever been in. It is an echo chamber and when the wind outside is blowing it blows through the bar like a wind tunnel because the management insist on leaving the front doors open and the door to the terrace opens inwards so it keeps blowing inwards. Even the 4 themed restaurants have the same clinical lightening and other than the Asian restaurant where some attempt has been made to theme it up a bit you would never know what theme the restaurant is. The Jet2 rep who was excellent agreed the bar could do with dimmer switches! The bar was often as cold as outside. It needs a rethink. Some plants, segregated areas, subtle lighting in fact anything that would make you want to be there , which we didn’t. There are 2 outside bars but it was too cold to sit out. A lot of money has been spent on this hotel but the interior designer for bar and restaurants needs to go back to the drawing board. We are going home Monday so happy to speak to management if they want to. As I say, almost there but not quite.…
Just spent an amazing week at the akti.... and wow what a beautiful hotel. All staff were lovely and friendly. All areas of the hotel was spotlessly clean, from the pool area, in the hotel and up to the rooms everyone works so hard. Rooms were great... 100% recommend a sea view room... the best outlook. Food was tasty and plentiful. We will 100% be coming back. Only snag from our visit was the special guest of Jane Mcdonald.... and her massive crowd of fans (who knew)... think this needs to be thought about if was to happen again....the queues they caused for the restaurants and what felt like the extra pressure on staff in bar in the evening, made it very difficult for guests who paid for a standard holiday. Once her and her fans went it made our experience even better.
We had a very pleasant stay at the Akti Imperial & found all the staff to be very hard working & helpful ( a special thank you to Diana who served us many drinks with a lovely smile sadly hidden behind her mask ) - The separate lifts for different floor combinations worked well for us and we never encountered any problems with them , Yes the restaurant was hectic at times but we found by going a little earlier or later it was less busy, good selection of dishes a big thumbs up for the Chinese corner & also the gorgeous salmon & carved meats that were on offer , The animation team are also a real credit to the hotel very enthusiastic & amusing to watch, the evening shows & bands we saw were also very good 😃
