A landmark of the famous island of Rhodes, Greece, the historic Hotel Grande Albergo delle Rose is a nearly century-old establishment located in the heart of the island's new town, next to one of its most breathtaking beaches and only minutes from the fascinating Medieval City. Enchanting and impressive, luxurious and glamorous, it was built in 1927, soon to become the favourite destination of the international social, cultural and political elite of the 40s, 50s and 60s. Fully renovated in 2002, it now houses a 5-star boutique Hotel with 33 suites and an array of outlets (summer and winter restaurants, pool bar, spa, etc.) which provide endless entertainment options to a discerning international clientele.
Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Such a lovely hotel steeped in history, a bit like stepping back in time... bedrooms were magnificent... although could have done with a balcony ... personalised service was fabulous... special shout out to Christina in Reception and Irene in the breakfast room! Spotlessly clean, every request was seen to immediately.... breakfast was a joy... completely personalised ... from freshly squeezed orange juice and favourite hot drink served as we walked in ..... everything freshly brought to your table.... hotel restaurant was fab.. right on the beach. Highly recommend... would definitely go back.... only down was the pool and pool area needs modernising and just a note that the beach is pebbles. On the upside both the pool area and beach were spotlessly clean with amazing personalised service!!

Great vacation! The hotel is beautiful, majestic, impressive historic building. Rooms are clean, spacious and glamorous! One of the best hotels we have ever been to. Comfortable access to a great beach! The restaurant is just amazing. Great Italian food! We ate there 3 days in a row and each night different great dishes. Warm, welcoming and professional staff. Highly recommended!

It is a large historic hotel, built during the Italian administration of Rhodes. In a strategic position, it overlooks a beautiful stretch of beach and is very convenient for visiting the ancient city of Rhodes. Large and spacious rooms. I recommend the ones facing the sea, they cost a little more but it's worth it. Breakfast served at the table, rich and abundant. Courteous and attentive staff. Swimming pool a little dated. As well as the carpet in the rooms. Convenient service of beach towels available clean every day which avoids having to carry them in your luggage. Overall more than good!

A house steeped in history, which scores with high, large and bright rooms, the central location, the friendly staff and, above all, the fact that there is no mass operation here. However, I booked especially a Grand Suite, as this is advertised with balcony, but there was only a small French standing balcony with side sea views. Four months before arrival I asked for a room on one of the upper floors, I ended up on the first floor. The promised fruit plate on arrival was only available after I complained. Bathrobe and slippers were so well hidden that I only found them on the last day. A change of room was allegedly not possible due to being fully booked. As compensation, the manager offered me free dinner in the hotel restaurant on the beach for the duration of my stay, but did not let me know there, so that an unpleasant situation arose for me and I then no longer wanted to use this offer so that I did not have to perform there every night as a petitioner. Something in writing or a voucher would have been helpful. At night it is very noisy in the rooms through the beach bars, without earplugs no Night's sleep. By the way, the "garden view" is predominantly parking lot view! I would not book there anymore, for the price you can book the most beautiful hotels in Rhodes!

We stayed for two nights at this historic hotel that opened in 1927. We booked a Queen Suite with Sea View. According to the room description, this room type should have had a balcony. Our suite #222 didn't.
However, our suite was probably the most spacious suite in this category (74m2). For a longer stay, I would have insisted to have a balcony. Apparently, if you want to guarantee a balcony, you have to book Presidential Suite from the top 3rd floor. The hotel building is very multifaceted and very few rooms have a proper balcony.
The interior is very old-fashioned but well preserved. No wear and tear could be seen.
The breakfast was served a la carte outside at Garden Cafe restaurant. It was excellent.
The service was very friendly everywhere.
Rodos Casino is in the same building. After our dinner at Garden Cafe, we wanted to see the pool and got one rude security guard after us.
Our stay had a quite good value for the paid 302 euros per night including breakfast and tourist tax.

Wow what an amazing time we had at this hotel. Fabulous hotel, beautiful decor and amazing service. Hotel is near everywhere - old town, new town, right on the beach, surrounded by restaurants. Staff were amazing especially Christina and Emily on reception and Irini in the breakfast room. By the second day we didn't even have to ask what drinks we wanted, Irini just brought them. Eggs of all types are brought freshly made to the table, fruit platters were also available.
Only negative is the pool - looks a bit shabby and needs to be upgraded.
If you want that personal touch I recommend you visit the hotel.

I went to the hotel spa to get a massage, the most expensive one. 70 minutes for 100 euros. I was received in a windowless dressing room with a very noisy portable air conditioner on. the massage was described as ancient Greek massage, according to Hippocratic philosophy. I was briefly dry brushed using supermarket talcum powder in Italy, the use of essential oils is just boasted about. I was massaged with a common massage oil, in the end I had to ask to use the toilet and to have a glass of water. Definitely disappointing, the structure and service are not up to the prices charged.

We were 3 friends from Norway on a girls trip. We did not stay at the hotel but every day we got lunch from the beach bar/café, when we were at the beach. Amazing staff, and really good toast. There was a lovely man with a joker tattoo in the bar that provided us with delicious drinks and company while our toasts were being heated up. He was half of the reason why we came back. Give that man a raise! ;)

A hotel must also be remembered for the stories it can evoke. Everything here is perfect: the location, very close to the port and the city center (but isolated from the large garden), the rooms, the terrace for breakfast facing the sea. But the Grande Albergo delle Rose is also the place where crowned heads and the high society of half of Europe stayed. Highly recommended
