What a wonderful surprise we found when return g from the beach on my birthday. Once again the personal attention at this delightful family run hotel in a quiet part of atmospheric Old Rhodes Town was second to none. We hope to go back again and again.
This small quaint family run hotel is a little gem. It is well priced, run by a happy caring family, centrally located to the old town and beaches to swim. I have no hesitation in recommending it and giving it 5 stars
Walking from the ferry terminal dock, enter Rhodes old town through the gate and turn left. away from the hustle and bustle of the shopping and restaurant area. Follow the curve of the road for about 300 yards to discover Cava D'Oro's red welcome door-mat on your left. The hotel is actually against the city walls. Reception is at the end of the hallway and there you will be greeted by charming Alexia or the owner, Bridget. You will note that the hotel's theme is that of the Crusades. Coats of Arms are embedded in the floor tiles and on their plates and cups. (It is about a 20 minute walk to the (Crusader) Street of the Templars). Our comfortable room was on the upper floor and to our delight, our deck had a ladder propped against the city walls. We were able to climb the ladder and stroll along the wall to have a wonderful view of the harbor. We didn't walk the entire available length of the walls because of the undergrowth about 100 yds. away - this section of wall was basically private, and not city-maintained. Cava D'Oro provides an extensive breakfast which includes home-made pastries and jams. The breakfast room is in a pretty courtyard. Our room was peaceful and quiet. I mention this because Rhodes appears to be a lively town and the music only stops at 5:00 a.m if you are staying in the busy part of town. We highly recommend Cava D'Oro because of the hotel's architectural personality, and the open-hearted welcome provided by both Bridget and Alexia.…
Fantastic ancient building meticulously renovated exquisite room. Very quiet street close to Ports and to main drag. Incredibly helpful staff great breakfast in charming courtyard - loved it there hard to leave!
Cava D'Oro was as charming as ever this year. Thank you Birgid and Alexia who make everyone welcome in this small but quaint hotel. The buffet breakfast in the courtyard is a treat we look forward to every year. The cleanliness is outstanding with a daily linen change.
