I must agree with the points made by Mr 'thebates22'. Shower curtains and fancy showers are not usual in budget accommodation in Greece. Mike and Maria are lovely hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. Despite the very limited cooking facilities we made scrambled eggs and omelettes from eggs given to us by Maria. Our room was cleaned every two days and we had clean towels and sheets then too. I don't change my bed linen every two days at home!
This is a budget hotel in an excellent position for beaches and restaurants (provided you are happy with small, family run establishments serving traditional Greek food - if not, why are you in Greece?).
We have stayed there several times, and will be going back next year.

Stayed here with a friend on a girls holiday. Have to say we were pleasantly surprised!
Staff were lovely and helpful, less than 5 minutes away from the beach and you could walk to the bar strip in about 10 minutes- very convenient but also far enough away to mean you won't be disturbed by the noise.
Room was okay (although the cooking rings were hopeless so we ended up eating at their poolside bar everyday.) 'Self catering facilities' is a bit of an exaggeration... but that's to be expected in Greece.
We paid about £35 for air conditioning in our room for the whole week and it was well worth it.
The only issues we had were the showers (similar to a hose pipe attached to the wall) and the room position.
All in all the place had a very comfortable and friendly atmosphere. And if you're willing to see past the occasionally lack-luster facilities, then this is a bargain hotel with cheerful service and a great location!

I was quite disappointed about Butterfly Studios. We knew it was a quite cheap accomodation, but for this money, you can definitely find better options. Room equipment, especially the kitchen is very-very basic. There is no chance to prepare any food there, so if you are planning to eat in more than a slice of bread with butter, I definitely wouldn't recommend this place. Even preparing a tea is an adventure, since there is no water kettle, just a little pot without a top and a very old electric stove plate, which heated up the whole room before heating the water...
Although bathroom was having a normal size, it looked quite filthy and there was not even a shower curtain and shower head was little and hard to handle. Anyway, I won't go into further details, the niveau was way under my expectations. (As I already mentioned, I don't think I had too high expectations, I was already having experiences what you can have for this money on a greek island.)
But to also mention some pros: the pool area is quite nice, the place is close to the beach and in a walking distance to Faliraki centre.
I was also quite satisfied with cleaning service, cleaning lady came twice during our one week staying, and cleaned up the room quite properly. It wasn't her fault that bathroom looked how it looked... Fresh towels were also provided twice during our stay.

Excellent basic accomodation with clean rooms and pool area and very friendly and helpful staff.
The Butterfly studios are situated about 5 minutes walk to the beach at the harbour end of the bay and are close to several supermarkets and tavernas. The rooms are clean and well equipped with the basic self catering items, extra cutlery and towels were provided when requested and a broken sink was repaired by a plumber within hours of being reported - you wouldn't get that sort of service anywhere in the UK!
Faliraki is a 15 minute walk away and despite some reservations when booking it turned out to be a very pleasant resort catering for all ages and not a can of Stella or an England shirt in sight!
Excellent overall holiday especially the staff at the apartments and the tavernas which turned out to have some of the cheapest prices ever paid in my 8 years of twice yearly excursions to Greece.

Having read most of the other reviews about the Butterfly, I must add my own opinion. The pool area is very good (although there are weeds growing between the tiles which says a lot about the care shown). The outside seating area to the front of the entrance is also very nice for a shaded drink. Unfortunately the inside of the Butterfly is not so good.
To say it is rundown and in need of refurbishing is a major understatement. The bathroom was minute with just enough space between the door and the wash-hand basin for the door to close. On our last day we were supplied with a bath-towel. When this was put over the hand-basin, the door wouldn't close. On the other hand, the bed linen and towels were very clean. The only TV was in reception and the bedroom air-con cost 40 Euro for our short stay.
Our daily breakfast was a slice of "ham", a slice of cheese and a boiled egg with two pieces of toast and butter and strawberry jam with a coffee and juice. We were not expecting a lot but we did think we might have (typically) a little tomato and cucumber or something to go with this as we have usually had at other, similar, places.
The "Bar area" was the reception desk with a few stools and a chiller cabinet to the side which held the drinks (which in honesty were very reasonably priced) [See included photo.]
While the staff were really nice, I'm afraid there is no way we would stay here again. Sorry to contradict what others have said, but this is our honest account of the Butterfly Studios.
As this was a stay for our son's wedding, we were within easy reach of the church at the waterfront. Our other son (not the groom) stayed at the Villa George Studios in the town and had by far a better place to stay which turned out to be £40 cheaper than the Butterfly for the same length of time.

Yes the place is a bit dated and needs some work done to make it better but we had a great time there. The family is great and will go out of their way to help you with extra's if you ask them nicely. Bath mats extra plates etc etc. will be given when asked. Location is great as nice quite area with lots of local supermarkets and restaurants just around the corner. Cooking can be done but only in basic form. We had two rooms next to each other so was a bit easier to cook with two electric hobs. Ask for a room with pool view. Yes the sun will wake you in the morning but great view and cooler in the afternoon.

Things to pack with you when you go. Big tea mugs, elastic bands so that you can hook the shower onto the hook as otherwise you will have to hold it in you hand.

Best restaurant in the area is a little unknown place at Profitis Amos. Little walk away but well worth it. ( ask the family for details) They have lots of peacocks around the area and the food is lovely and very cheap. Better then you get at most restaurants in town. 90% of the customers are greek.

All in all we where very happy with this place.

Fantastic Stay and Great Apartments ran by such lovely and welcoming family.
The studios are basic but are just what you need. Clean, Air-Con, Bed, Fridge and cooking facilities. The room was cleaned daily by the cleaning lady who often left our towels in various flower and animal shapes which was a very nice touch. We did not cook in the apartment so can not comment of the use of the two hobs. If you like tea or coffee in your room there is a small pan supplied to boil up some water or for convenience bring your own kettle as one is not supplied. Air-Con was perfect in the hot weather and worked a treat. The pool was lovely and refreshing to dip into when relaxing (inflatables were allowed which was a bonus). The only thing I would recommend would be for music to be played around the pool - if you have a sound bar take one if you like a little music around the pool. 24hr reception which sell basic but ice cold drinks, the small pool bar serves food (we did not eat at the bar so cannot comment on this, but often smelt very nice). Air-con cost us 40 Euros for the week and a safety deposit box 10 Euros. Once again thank you to all the wonderful family that run this place with a smile and made us feel like family! We will be back again to see you next year!

Pros: great pool area, pool had sand in it though. Wifi was good but only in reception, not even by the pool.

Cons: we paid for air-con (which is fine) what us not fine is that it is stuck on one setting that still takes about 2 hours to cool down a relatively small room. Beds were thin and uncomfortable. There was no way to lock doors from the inside, maid service just waltzed in. Locks on doors did not give any sense of security. Location is a solid 20 minute walk to town, normally not an issue for us but it is really hot there right now. Front person was a surly man who gave absolutely no assistance. Finally, bathroom was terrible - hand held shower, the shower basin and curtain did not match up which meant the bathroom flooded, the drain was placed just so that there was no drainage and a pool formed which would not go away. Hot water was good, but took 5 minutes of wasted water to come through - thankfully a cold shower was sometimes needed after the long walk back from town.

Everything seemed to be in place to maximise their intake at the absolute expense of guests. Would not recommend.

What a lovely place to stay, this is a family run place. The minute u walk in the door ur greeted wiv a warmth and compassion that is so appreciated when ur away from home. Admittedly it's basic but if u get past the limited features its a lovely relaxing place to stay. Nothing is to much trouble here and I can see why the guests come bk year after year
There's no mad rush for sunbeds, the pool is beautiful.
Only downside for me us the beds are a bit hard, but for the money I paid I'm not gonna complain
Will defo return

We spent 2weeks here in August . Like the previous reviewer said there are good points & bad points to this accommodation.
In saying that we feel that the good far outweigh the bad. We have visited Rhodes many times & stayed in various accommodations ranging from 2 star all the way up to 5 star.
With this property you get exactly what you pay for & in our opinion it's one of the better 2star properties we have stayed in. Most importantly it's kept very clean. The families who run the place are very nice & friendly. It's in a quiet area , 5 minutes walk from the nearest sandy beach & about 10-15 minutes walk into the centre of Faliraki. The property is very safe & reception is staffed 24/7. It's true to say that cooking facilities are very basic but a staff member noticed that my wife is on a soft food diet (after recent surgery) & offered to prepare any meal she could eat , even if it involved us buying food in the supermarket & bringing it to the pool bar for her to cook (at NO CHARGE !!!!) . To us that's going the extra mile & because of little things like that we would certainly stay here again.
To anyone considering spending a holiday here be aware that its basic but clean & the people who run this property are what makes it worth going back to.
