• Incredibly close to the beach and fantastic sea views from the room.
• Good breakfast buffet, but a bit sad that it was exactly the same selection every day.
• Super cozy patio to have breakfast on.
• Nice staff, especially those who worked in the restaurant.
• Good food in the restaurant, and good prices. We highly recommend the chicken bbq pizza!
• Good location in Platanias. Close to lots of shops, bars, eateries and the bus stop to get into Chania.
• Fresh, bright and modern hotel, apart from the rooms themselves.
✘ Negative:
• Boring room with outdated furniture, except for the bathroom which was renovated and fresh. Looks nicer in the pictures.
• The cleaning staff moved things in the room every day, for example they moved up the balcony furniture and folded away the drying rack. It got a little annoying in the end, having to move the things back onto the balcony time after time. You may think that the furniture can be left as it is while guests stay in the room. The sheets didn't seem to be changed all week.
• The pool area is much smaller than it looks in the pictures, with few sunbeds.
• You need to pay 8 euros per day for two sunbeds on the beach, thought it would be free for paying hotel guests.
• The AC only works if the balcony door and windows are closed. We therefore left the balcony door open when we left the room to keep it cool, but the cleaning staff closed the door each time which meant that the room was always very hot when we returned.
• The hotel tax could only be paid in cash.

The hotel’s restaurant serves delicious food made with fresh, local ingredients. The selection is varied and satisfies every taste.
What really sets this hotel apart is the staff. They are incredibly friendly and helpful, always smiling and ready to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Their hospitality and attention to detail made our experience even more special.
We are already determined to come back next year and look forward to enjoying another fantastic holiday at this great hotel. Thank you so much for a lovely stay!
Only cons about this is that our balcony was directly in the sunlight all day, so it wasn't able to use doing day-time because of the heat. And the aircon can only be turned on when "at home", so it was very warm to get back to the hotelroom after a day at the pool/beach or after a day trip. But overall we liked it a lot and would definitely come back for another vacation.
We had a total of four rooms in the hotel, two of the rooms were contaminated with large cockroaches - they came out of valves and the drainage system. It must be said that the staff were as helpful as they could be, they both sprayed and sprinkled some powder around the apartments, without it helping much. There was little sleep for those who had those rooms, they were also not given the opportunity to change rooms. The third room didn't have cockroaches, but lots of mold! The last room was perfectly fine, just worn.
Good cleaning and pleasant staff enhance the overall impression. The location to both the beach and the center is perfect!
Considering that there were so few sunbeds by the pool, hotel guests should have had free access to the sunbeds by the beach. For us, this was a bit of a stressful holiday with all these cockroaches and the "battle for sunbeds" every day, so we will probably not choose this hotel again.

Platanias Mare fit the bill perfectly!! Located right on the beach with a fantastic little beach bar, the staff were excellent.
The reception area and rooms were really nice, the room itself was one of the better that we've stayed in in Greece (although still fairly basic.)
The pool was nice and warm, and the beach was amazing (although it did get quite busy.)
The Sunset Cruise in Chania was a waste of money in our opinion, so bear that in mind if your rep tries to rope you into it.
We were squeezed into a taxi with two really, REALLY large people, which was a very awkward 30 minute ride. We then were shown around a large market which smelled of fish, and some shops that sold leather handbags on leather street... we then went out on a boat to see an old leper colony while the overzealous German rep yelled "IT'S RAKI TIME!!" and tried to force shots down us.
Sunset itself is beautiful, Rest of that trip was a joke though!
Platanias as a resort was ideal for us, it wasn't over developed (like Ayia Napa / Paphos) but had a great selection of tavernas and small but friendly bars. The beach bars were open until late, but again weren't over busy. I wouldn't recommend Platanias as a resort to someone looking for a clubbing holiday, nor would I recommend it to someone looking for unspoilt, traditional Greece- but for somewhere between the two, it's ideal.
Platanias mare is in a handy location, around 1km away from the town square (which is the busiest part of the town)
Around 300m to the nearest tavernas and bars, handy minimarket & car hire just 100m from hotel.
Sunbeds on the beach right in front of the hotel were around 5 euros a day, air conditioning was 50 euros for the week and well worth it.. (especially as we were there during the heatwave which saw temperatures hit 40+!)
The hotel is close to the beach and centre of Platanias but still there were no noise at night, we slept very well!
Platanias is very touristic but it offers a lot of nice restaurants, Socrates in old Platanias was really good!
The rooms are cozy and we even got a room with two bathrooms:)
The beach is nice, but it can be a bit windy (and a lot of people) and it gets deep very quickly.
We would recommend to go to Maleme, which is just 10min with bus from Platanias.
Stavros is a really nice beach, with clear water and a nice restaurant "Mama´s Place". They had delicious cheese burgers!
Elafonissi is definitely worth a visit, it´s something really special! So beautiful beach with crystal clear water, lovely to dive in!
Anyway, we would really recommend this hotel!
"Our room number was 228 this was on the second floor. Pool and sea views, balcony not overlooked and got the sun from midday onwards."Read full review
