You get what you pay for at this hotel. Threadbare carpets, you have to do your own inventory after check in which is tedious, why they can’t just check that you have the number of plates, pans etc is anyone’s guess. We booked an 8 person flat for 4 of us which was still squashed. Can’t imagine what you’d do if you booked it for 8 people. There’s not enough cupboard space or living space for it. God knows why they need to put pebble dash on the walls so that you scratch yourself up just getting into the tiny toilet. Rude staff who allow French to check in early but everyone else despite travelling all night and arriving at 10am have to wait until 4 pm to check in and god forbid your ask if you can at least leave your bags before then. Nowhere to put your clothes. Yes there’s 5 hangers but not quite enough for a family of 4 so we had to just live out of our suitcases. Only good thing that can be said is it’s in a good location on the piste and the heaters are very effective.

Have to say these apartments certainly are not 4*. Just because it has a pool, gym and sauna it does not warrant 4*s. We had loads of crockery missing from our room, including a tin opener. Having to pay 18€ for a set of towels (1 bath and 1 hand) was extremely extortionate. It would have been helpful if in the description guests could be warned of the 118 steps from the resort to the hotel, not ideal for young children. Resort was ok, although shop was mega expensive. In all, had a good holiday but wouldn’t rush to stay at La Turra again.

Good hotel near one of the ski slopes. Not very big, with four separate buildings in Alpine style. The top attraction is the outside pool. The area is so nice quiet. Very good for families with children.

Like all appartments in France, also Residence la Turra is no different when it comes to spaciousness of apartment. They are too small for persons intended to stay, so book wisely... a 6-persons room is a way to go for 4 person staying. The interior has just the basics, so don't forget to bring everything - from toalete(shampoo) to dish soap, sponge... A nice touch is an outside open pool (heated water) and a small sauna (which is alway full).

Right on the piste. Apartment equipped with everything one might need. Very friendly staff. Nice pool. Good price/quality ratio. They also have the option to order bread and croisants to be delivered to the hotel, but the price is just too high for that, especially, when a small, but good supermarket is just 10 mins away. But attention, if you are with a child who needs to be taken to the ski school every morning, then the location of the hotel is not good, as you will still need to walk to the main gondola lift every morning, and it may not be easy wearing your ski boots :-) Other than that, a perfect place to stay. We loved it! You can buy wi-fi access that covers the entire ski-station, not expensive, the hotel only has wi-fi access in the reception area.

3 adults. We have spent 1 week in a 3 room apartment. The first week of February is the cheapest week in France for a total price of 500 euro each we had fly, apartment, ski card, and material rent. The apartment are very little, you can't stay with 6 persons in 32 square meters. So that this in account when planning your vacation. ValFrejus was perfect, lot of fresh snow and perhaps 50 people on the slopes.

The apartment is too small for 6 people. There are now shelves not anywhere else to put on things. There was tons of snow (70cm) and still only three slopes were open - full of rocks which resulted in destroyed skies/snowboards. The pool is only open for 4 hours.

We booked an apartment in this hotel on a famous online booking site because it looked as the best of all the hotels in Valfrejus and it was a 4* hotel with sports-room and an outdoor swimming pool with heated water. The booking was at the beginning of January. We arrived there from Turin airport by train to Bardonecchia and then by bus to Modane and then by taxi to Valfrejus. When we arrived in Bardonecchia (around 5:30 p.m.) we telephoned the reception of the hotel to get directions but they had no idea about directing us to get there by public transportation, they suggested hiring a taxi, but we asked and it would charge us at least 120 euro for the trip... On the first day, we finally arrived at the hotel a bit late, at 8:30 p.m. (because we could hardly find a bus and a taxi to take us from Bardonecchia to Modane and then from Modane to Valfrejus, and found the reception door locked, an envelope with our name on it stuck on the front door of the hotel; this envelope contained the key to our apartment, which was weird, anybody could have taken it... The apartment was spacious, clean and warm; it consisted of a living-room and a small kitchen (furbished with everything you need to prepare and eat a meal, I mean dishes, a stove etc), a bedroom with a double bed, a small bedroom with 2 beds, 2 baths and a balcony. The furniture was rustic and a bit old. To our surprise, there were no towels in the bathrooms, no soap, no shampoo or any of the other things you would normally expect in a 4* hotel... Since we arrived late, we could find no supermarket that was open, so we did some improv regarding the towels and used my face-soap as soap/shampoo whatever... The next day, they told us at the reception that a set of 3 towels was available for an extra 5 Euros. The staff at the reception was very polite and helpful when they were around, since the reception was only open between 8-11 a.m. and 5-7 p.m. on weekdays. The guy at the breakfast room was rather impolite and seemed to be bothered by any questions or demands... Breakfast is a typical french breakfast with bread, butter, jam, honey, croissant, orange juice and coffee or tea. During the 5 days & nights we spent there (we were supposed to stay 6 but we left a day earlier) no one came to the apartment to clean it or to take the garbage out or to change the bed-sheets or to replace the toilet paper (which we had to buy from the supermarket when it ran out)... On the hotel door there were directions about where tourists can take the trash to... I've never been to a 4 star hotel before and have to take out the trash myself (and I have stayed in more than 20 4* hotels in the big cities of Europe). I suppose they also expected us to vacuum-clean the room because there was a vacuum-cleaner inside the closet... We chose to leave earlier partly because of the hotel and partly because Valfrejus was a really boring place to stay in, nothing going on there after 7 p.m.

I spent post Christmas & new year in the lovely resort of Valfrejus, it had the whole Christmas picture postcard effect snowing for 3 days on request. We stayed at La Turra I enjoyed the amenities of the hotel ie the sauna, swimming pool and nice cosy inexpensive bar (for the French alps) but the rooms just were not up to scratch. Beds you couldn't get a nights sleep on 1 bad pillar, rooms completely unacceptable to take double beds ,(you had to walk on the bed to get to the other side).I think they would be better off not trying to cram in more & concentrate on a bit of luxury living. All in all I liked the hotel but you need to move up out of budget class.
