We were drawn in by the historic building and interesting decor but were left very disappointed with the food. We had three courses and every one was poor, and please take my word for it when I say we aren't really demanding. It was the last day of our french holiday, easily the most expensive meal and yet the most... More

We were in Montreuil for a business trip. At our first night we didn't want to eat at the hotel restaurant so we decided to look around for a local one. We found this hotel and restaurant in the center of town. The restaurant decoration is very strange, and we were alone in the hall. We thought that it's a... More

four of us visited this restaurant on a |Thursday evening the building is in poor condition outside but through the window it was clean and well appointed. The menu was good, but the food served did not match the the details on the menu. The starter was served without cornishons and the main chicken course was ready made chicken kevvi... More

I can only think other reviewers were in a different place.... we had a superb meal (definitely not "Chicken".... although my wife did have that....). The starters were superb (beautifully baked Camembert with garlic and ham) and I had something that is increasingly rare in France... a beautiful, tender steak cooked to perfection ... I don't mean well done... it... More

We are there on a Saturday evening, do wish we haven't, the place after close inspection looks very tired and run-down. Food was abismal, very small portions, but that was a plus point!!! Never again shall we darken their door!

Only one kind of food to eat, guess what: chicken. It was perhaps a speciality of the British kitchen, but less than minimal for any French cook. Once it was a special place with great dishes and joy, now it's nothing more than a canteen. The prise for this ONE menu would be fine for a restaurant with such an... More

The website promises 2 menus and an "à la carte" with great dishes and claimes quality approved by several famous people, during it's long history. In good moods we entered the lovely 'courtyard' and sat down at shabby plastic table and chaires. The kind host brought us the menu, but there was no choice!!! Just one starter, main dish and... Our visit was in early August. We too had read and wondered about the mixed reviews but a friend had recommended the hotel, and also the Les Miserables production. We stayed in Room 3 which had two double beds - a bit lumpy but quite comfortable and the room was prettily decorated in an old-fashioned way. The bathroom had seen... More

Dirty room, no TV, no Power point, uncomfortable ancient mattress, breakfast spartan and not value for money including charging baby 10 euros, rude female owner, terrible decor. Shame because building had charm and could be magnificent.

We stayed there two years ago and had such a fun time, in such an eccentric setting, in this lovely town. We could easily have written one of the four and five star reviews here. But this year we visited again, and all the old attractions seem to have gone sour. It's as eccentric and pretty as ever, but the... More
