We had travelled to Tremolat in the Dordogne from Beynac where we were staying for a week. We had toured Lascaux 11 in the morning and had booked for lunch at the Bistro de la Place in Tremolat (see separate review). After lunch we went for a walk around the lovely village and, as the Bistro is associated with Le...

I stayed here because the hotel and restaurant feature in Martin Walker's Bruno, Chief of Police crime fiction. The Directrice, Estelle Lepers, was extremely friendly, and even invited Mr. Walker to meet me. (He declined--I don't blame him.) To give another example, when I arrived after dark, the road to the parking lot was blocked. She was walking somewhere after...

One of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. On a luxury bike tour and this was our hotel for 2 nights. So amazingly beautiful and a Michelin starred diner at night. Most beautiful setting and so luxurious.

This was our 4th visit to Le Vieux Logis and it is always a treat. It is understated and charming, with a feel of the old inn it has always been but very comfortable. Each room is different, and we particularly like the ones overlooking the garden. Dinner outside on the terrace in the garden, lit by candles, is never...

I was very much looking forward to staying at Le Vieux Logis, and parts of it exceeded expectations (Susan at the front desk comes to mind-- she was amazing!). Our dining experience there was also wonderful-- great, friendly service, delicious, creative food, etc. The garden was idyllic. The things that kept it from being 5 star: - No gym. I...

Right in the middle of a picture perfect village close to a lovely stretch of the Dordogne this is a beautiful hotel. We stayed for 3 nights in a standard room which was simply delightful - a huge bathroom, welcome air conditioning during a hot spell with all the creature comforts. Rooms are spread across the hotel and a number...

Once you drive into the lovely town of Trémolat and spot Le Vieux Logis, you are going to say, "Wow!" It is simply gorgeous and well worth the drive getting there. We used LVL as our home base for three relaxing nights to visit nearby Sarlat, Les Eyzies, Valé de l'homie, La Roche-Gageac, Le Bugue and Limeuil, among others. The...

This old castle style hotel in an old little village in the middle of nowhere between Lyon and Bordeaux. Very nice and friendly staff. The rooms were very nice, each of them different. Just a romantic place to return. In the garden there is a pool and also a place where the kids can play. And there is a place...

If you wish to stay in a beautiful French property where the rooms/suites are tasteful in decoration and very clean then this is an excellent choice. It has lovely gardens and the pool is very relaxing. What makes this hotel so special is the service however. In particular the receptionist Estelle and Emile who even drove us to a wedding...

Rooms are small and a little tired and outdated. The location, gardens and hotel restaurants are excellent. Breakfast is overpriced and poor value. The restaurant on the village square offers a much better breakfast at less than half the price.
