It is a wonderful place! The garden is beautiful and the owner Dennis is very nice. He will shuttle you to town if you prefer not to walk and tells you about all the interesting things to do in the town. The view from the cabins on the mountains is very beautiful. On our first day here, my boyfriend and I decided to hike la India Dormida in the early morning. When we reached the top, my boyfriend asked me to marry him! Such a beautiful and special moment for us. When we came back from the hike and told Dennis and his friend Irma about our engagement, they were very happy for us and offered us drink to celebrate. It was very nice and thoughtful. We will for sure be back, since this will always be a special place to us.
Cabanas Potosi is 4 acres of well-groomed garden with a wonderful and natural variety of plants and birds. The owner, Dennis, has lived here for many years and is well known in the community so if you have special requests or need information, he will probably know offhand or will be able to connect you with someone who will. I was there in March of 2022 as the pandemic was winding down and things returning slowly to normal thanks to Panama's no-nonsense approach to mitigating the infectivity rate. I enjoyed the surroundings, interesting conversations, and comfortable climate. I spent quite a few mornings working outside and alternately stretching out in a hammock. There seems to be a constant breeze through a break in the surrounding mountain rim that keeps the bugs away and the warm afternoons comfortable. The rooms have minifridges but no cooking facilities. Breakfast is provided (coffee, pastry, juice, fruit). The windows have screens on them too which is a plus. (Most here do not). Since it's about 2 km outside of town, it's better to have a vehicle but Dennis will shuttle you into town. House-keeping does a good job of keeping the rooms and facilities clean.…
We stayed here in June 2019 and were recently looking at photos from our trip and remembered we had forgotten to write a review of this lovely place. It is set within the most beautiful gardens where we spotted all sorts of birds and other animals. Each cabana is cosy and comfortable we all slept really well waking to the sounds of the birds each morning was very pleasant. The owners were friendly and helpful, it was funny bumping into them twice at restaurants in town. We really hope to one day return to Panama and stay here again!
we loved this place. we arrived just pas nine because of horrible traffic from the city and they was nice enough to great us even thought we were a bit passed the hour... the cabins were really clean and the site was great. The owners were not there but the lady there was nice. it was really calm and quiet. The site is really nice. really great place
Dennis and Mireya are lovely hosts who jmake you feel welcome and at home. The cabanas are situated in a beautiful and large garden, full of nice places to sit and enjoy the birds and flowers. De rooms are nice and clean and if you want you can kook in a kitchenet. We had a beautiful walk with Mario to watch the birds and several other very nice hikes. Also there are good restaurants in El Valle. We recommend this place as one of the most beautiful of Panama.
We were greeted by friendly host e at the entrance to the big garden which looks like a botanical garden! Lots of trees, shrubs, flowers and singing birds - a real green paradise! Bungalows are set among the greenery. Our room was spacious, with 2 comfortable beds and bathroom attached. I loved paintings on the walls (birds, flowers...) which can be seen in the other rooms too. Staying with Dennis and Mireya is like visiting friends! They are so attentive, talkative, and they know a lot about nature, El Valle and have lots of suggestions what to do for a few days. Mireyas brother is a bird specialist, so if you are here for birdwatching he is the one to hire for a tour! Breakfast is simple but tasteful - we tried local coffe from the families plants. The bungalows are in a walkable distance from the town and close to some waterfalls. If you dont have your own transportation Dennis is always prepared to give you a lift.…
I worried a little, before arriving at Cabanas Potosi, because it is a little out of town (about 1 km), and I was travelling by public transportation, but Dennis' free shuttle service happily overcame that problem. I also was concerned, being a solo traveller, about loneliness, but I was warmly received by thoughtful, gregarious hosts who created impromptu events, like a yoga class and a wine & snacks get-together for all guests. As they say: 'You arrive a stranger, and you leave as a friend'. Thank you, Dennis and Mireya. You were one of the highlights of my trip to Panama.
Missed our chance to write on airbnb so will say on here - very friendly, helpful and informative.good service in providing free shuttle to and fro into town.complimentary breakfast great coffee.highly recommended.
We highly recommend Cabanas Potosi if you're planning on traveling to El Valle! The cabanas are very spacious and clean. The screened in windows allow plenty of cool breeze to travel throughout the cabanas. The beds were very comfortable. Dennis and Mireya even provide hammocks for relaxing outside of your cabana! They are also very environmentally-conscientious and recycle/compost on property. If you are a birder there are plenty of birds located in the garden and Mireya even feeds them during the day! I highly recommend booking a private birding tour with Mireya's brother, Mario, he's not only a great birder, but also an amazing person to spend the day with. Dennis and Mireya were great hosts and made us feel very welcome at their home and in El Valle. We highly recommend staying at Cabanas Potosi, and we can't wait to come back again!…
After participating in the ocean-to-ocean cayuco race we needed a cool, friendly place in the mountains to relax and chill before moving on to Pedasí and Chiriquí. Cabañas Potosí is amazing and wonderfully managed by the owners. The cabañas have been in business for more than 40 years and the property has been in the family for generations and it is extremely well taken care of. The extensive gardens are lush and beautiful and the bird life abounds. The owners are totally helpful and organized. The cabañas are clean and have murals inside pained by local artists. This is one of those places where you just want to spend more time; it is relaxing, fulfilling and good for the soul.
