Luz de Vida is in a beautiful beach setting with incredible potential. Unfortunately, the owners are trying to sell the property and often neglect the hotel guests. We stayed in cozy jungle bungalow just up from the pool. There were some ants in the bathroom, but it was a nice setting with a hammock on the porch, iguanas wandering out...

What a mistake! I wish I had read all the reviews here. We were there from March 9-11 and we regret every minute at the hotel - even though the area is quite beautiful and great for surfing. Everything that's been written before happened to us: Horrible service, lousy beds, no closets to hang our clothes, no hot water in...

In short, take your business elsewhere - this place is a scam. We spent the first half of our honeymoon here - what a mistake. The website is slick and totally misleading - there is no yoga, spa, or massage - just an abandoned shack near the beach with a sign that says "spa" - what a joke! And we...

We just returned this week and couldn't wait to give my review on this place. The gentleman named "Continental Traveler" from D.C. couldn't have said it in better words. The first night we stayed in a more budget hotel in Mal Pais, and regretted it! So, the next day we went venturing looking for somewhere else, and were lucky enough...

The people at Luz De Vida were so friendly and helpful! I loved the pool, the service, the room and the setting (scenery & ALL). I plan on going back there and repeating this trip to costa rica and plan on staying at Luz de Vida again.

Spent three days at LDV and had a great time. They did a really nice job with the grounds and the rooms were clean and well taken care of. Everyone there was really nice and very friendly.

We stayed at Luz De Vida for a week while attending a wedding in Costa Rica. The hotel was quite charming and the staff rocked!! They were all very helpful and new how to make sure you had a great time. The food at their bar is wonderful and their fresh fruit frozen drinks are out of this world. A...

I don't know where to start with this hotel. Let me begin with the positives. The pool is the best thing there. We had it to ourselves almost every night, and the water was a perfect temperature. The hotel is right on the beach and there were many animals in area. We woke up to Howler monkeys almost every morning,...

Luz de Vida has a beautiful web site but the on-the-ground reality is quite a bit different. The grounds are OK but a little cheesy (fake waterfall into the pool etc.). Many of the rooms are tiny, dark, and right up against the dusty main road. They completely lost our reservation and initially we gave them the benefit of the...
