Not recommended at all - worth the read I booked 3 nights at the Tropico Latino Hotel as a father’s day gift to my husband. We were excited to go with our two girls (2months old and 3 years old). After more than a month of waiting for our exciting trip, we finally got there and the unpleasant experience started. They gave us a beach front room (#15)that was upstairs of the administrative offices (or something like that). It was next to a garage that was completely ugly. The entrance to the room had a wooden staircase, difficult to climb with babies, full of mosquitoes, dark, extremely humid and bats all over the place around 5pm til the night. So going up was a nightmare. Once in the room, it was also extremely humid, AC didn’t work, everything looked old, low maintenance given to it. There was a huge cockroach in there (see photo). It other words: not a friendly place to be in with babies. I understand we live in the tropics (I am Costa Rican), but hotels have to keep away insects from rooms so guests can have a pleasant experience, specially if its a “kids friendly hotel”. We then asked to be moved to another room. They moved us to room 1, which during checkout they told me it was recently renovated (not noticeable at all). At least it was a bit better than the first room. However, drapes still terrible, not blackouts at all, dirty, 4 worms in the shower, one on the bed, hot water was not working, etc.. Amenities: pool was TERRIBLE. All the pathways and floors of the hotel (including pool’s) are made of loose rocks which makes it difficult and uncomfortable for walking, pushing a stroller, etc. Pool had no beds, only chairs, it was extremely deep (even for adults), and the “kids pool” is a jacuzzi that is also dangerous because of its depth. Restaurant can definitely improve, we only ate there twice and the rest of the meals ate outside the hotel. The BBQ night is not worth the price for the product. We could compare the experience with the hotel located next to Tropico Latino, called Banana Beach Bungalows, since my parents were staying there for almost half the rate of Tropico Latino, with a superior experience. Not only beach front as well (only good thing about tropico Latino along with its gardens), but a prettier room, better beachfront restaurant, pool, pathways. In a nutshell: a better deal. To end my review: I congratulate the man at the front desk. He stood up for the place he works at, contradicting everything I told hin. Not once I heard from him “thank you for your comments, we will try to improve”. I leave this comment here because I believe customers need to know what to expect and I also believe public feedback is the only way hotels like this one (stubborn and with low investment) will hopefully improve for their own sake. If this was a $150 per night hotel, I might not be writing this. But this is almost a $300 per night room without breakfast included. I think they believe they are as good as they were 20 years ago, but this is NOT the reality. Regardless to say: I will NEVER go back and I would NEVER recommend this place.…
Fantastic place. We stayed next door but accidentally discovered this restaurant and have not been able to go anywhere else as the place is amazing. The whole snapper wow. Amazing. We are from Australia, we live by the sea and we never had such amazing fish meal. Incredible. The staff are so nice and friendly. The place has such great sits overlooking the ocean. It is perfect. Next time we stay here!
Amazing atmosphere right on the beach, the rooms were cleaned evrday, the location right in middle of Santa Teresa, i also wants to mention Mor Photographer made has professional pictures and videos +506 8949 9213 . the staff were very friendly and personal attention especially the bar FRANCISCO!!! Made the best Mojitos🧋🇨🇷
This hotel is absolutely beautiful. The vibe, atmosphere and views are breathtaking. We stayed in one of the double rooms with ocean view that although we didn’t had much ocean view, seating in the balcony and listening to the waves crashed is something I’ll never forget. Also, you’ll find hammocks all over the place which makes your experience more enjoyable. Don’t miss the opportunity to try the drinks at the beach bar. I had watermelon and toronja margarita and so far it’s the best margarita I’ve had in my life. There’s all kind of restaurants outside of the property and also, three different parking lots ask the front desk which one is closer to your room. In general the food was OK but I’ll highly recommend the cocktails.
This hotel was really beautiful and Mulberry Project which is located in the back has a wonderful vibe with the best drinks in all of Costa Rica. The staff is friendly and will make you feel right at home. I highly recommend it.
It's a nice facility with great access to the beach, but 2-3 of their rooms are less than 20 feet from the busiest part of the main drag of Santa Teresa. Endless noise from ATVs and people. Bad sound installation. If they try to put you in one of those rooms -- do not stay at the hotel. Other than that, it's a solid hotel.
We stayed a week in a larger bungalow with a kitchenette. Very comfortable, nice to have some fresh air through screened windows along with air conditioning. The garden is beautiful but not very breezy, we spent more time at the beachfront restaurant than on our bungalow deck. Very friendly and helpful staff, great cocktails and sunset views, perfect access to Playa Carmen.
Best cocktails in Santa Teresa. Would recommend sundowners on the beach and dinner is great too. The mixologists make a cracking mango margarita (because it’s mango season!), or ask them to make something special if you’re feeling indecisive…
The best in Santa Teresa! I did everything..massage,yoga, functional, eat in the restaurant, smoothie in a bar…thanks guys for your professional service…one special thanks to Luna for the great functional class🙏🏼 Even if you are not a guest from the hotel you are welcome for using the service and you feel out from all the caos from Santa Teresa..quiet and lovely place to be!!
Best Cocktails in Santa Teresa by far! Professional & super friendly bartenders, Meagan and Josh, made me feel at home immediately. Had an amazing night thanks to these two :) Great vibe, met some interesting people sitting at the bar, live music, watching the sunset.. Definitely going back for more!
