This was the perfect location. The beach access was right across the street and the beach was very beautiful. Really enjoyed our stay. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, thank you for everything! The bungalow suited us perfectly, the hammock outside was just perfect. Good places to eat in walking distance. Would definitely stay here again!

After a month in Costa Rica we were visiting Santa Teresa and found this cosy and luxury hotel. We were staying in a bungalow, very beautiful and well cleaned every day. We like that it's close to the beach, has good restaurantes nearby and also places were we could rent surfboards. Every morning the breakfast was carried to our bungalow, it was terrific. The poolarea was nice and calm. The staff is friendly and helpful, we really enjoyed our stay.

Having never visited Santa Teresa before, we were lost on where we should be staying. This mid-range hotel ended up being pretty great! First off, the grounds are beautiful. I couldn’t snap enough pictures of the rooms. The location is also great, walking distance to many wonderful places to eat and there’s a beach access just across the road which ended up being my favorite part so we didn’t have to walk down the dusty road much. The hotel also provides beach chairs if you want them. The pool area was beautiful and relaxing as well. My only gripe is the construction. Looks to me like they are adding a few rooms overlooking the pool, right next to where our room was so it was a little noisy with digging, hammering, and general chatter. Not ideal when you’re trying to relax or read and hoping for some quiet. We also felt like we were being watched at the pool by the workers.

We were very disappointed that the hotel pool was not usable during our stay due to construction. Every time we tried to go to the pool there was either loud noise and dust in the air and over the water. There were workers talking, chiseling, or hammering from sunrise to sunset. Demolition of the former restaurant to convert to 4 poolside suites was in full force. The owner (Natalia) refused to compromise on the price we paid for the room that we booked ( back in early September) when we were told that the construction would already be done before our stay. We had to move rooms because our room (#6) was right across from the pool, and the construction noise started at 6am and continued all day. Not exactly the peaceful retreat that we thought we were paying for. If we had been kept informed, we would have preferred to stay at one of the neighboring hotels, also with a pool, that were renting for the same nightly price, including our supposed discount. We did check the prices of comparable hotels, they we’re equal and with usable pools, but could not switch because our booking stipulated no refunds. The other cons were the black mold in the shower, the slow drainage of the shower, the wastebasket for the toilet had no lid (no flushing of the toilet paper allowed), and the calcification of the shower sprayer which made showering more difficult than it needed to be because we had to stand where the majority of the water was actually reaching which was right up against the wall. There were definitely some pros to our stay. The manager (Camilla) and owner were very helpful in arranging taxis and ATVs during our stay. Natalia, the owner, lent us snorkeling gear which, although we didn’t use it, was a nice gesture. The security guard and the groundskeepers were very friendly and helpful. There was plenty of hot water for showering. The rooms were tastefully decorated, but lacking some furniture to put our luggage on, so our bags ended up on the floor. There were clothes lines outside our bungalow to dry our clothing, but the lines ended up leaving brown/red marks on the clothing, so we ended up paying for laundry while we were there. The beds were comfortably firm, as were the pillows. The AC (in our second room #3) worked very well. The access to the beach was very close by. There were many restaurants in walking distance. Although not beach-side, it was conveniently located across the street from a road that led to the beach. The pool area will be very nice once the construction is done, but based on what we saw, I wouldn’t want to stay in one of the poolside suites due to privacy and noise concerns. We would probably stay somewhere else next time, just out of principle for the poor communication about the construction and no compensation for our inconvenience.

Dear Tanya. Thank you for leaving your comments. We are very sorry for the situation with the construction, it is true that they are delayed on the delivery date of the renovations. Unfortunately one out of your four day stay was the toughest day of work, though, the builders were ordered to stop any work as soon as customers arrive at the pool area. Also two of your four day stay they where no works at all because it was weekend. Due to this the owner, Natalia, did not agree to accept the reimbursement that you were asking that was equivalent to 25% more than the 40% discount you already had, in total it would have been 65% less on the rate, which is exaggerated, considering the amount of attention and comfort we offer in Manalá.On the other hand, thanks for letting us know about the state of the showers. We have as a priority the cleanliness and maintenance of the entire hotel, So far you are the first to comment this, and now that you tell us we'll look on it to see how to solve this.  Hope you enjoyed the rest of your vacations. Best regards, Manalá Team.
