We spent four nights at Makanas in March, such a hidden gem in an otherwise tourist filled spot. Lovely little cabanas, a secluded area and super friendly staff. The restaurant was great too, really good food and fun drinks! Absolutely worth a visit!

I can't comment on the quality of the hotel b/c they cancelled our reservation two days before we arrived. Apparently, they double booked and didn't communicate this (or apologize) until the week we were schedule to arrive. At first, they tried to get us to take a house driving distance from the beach and were unable to show us any... More

Hello, Im so sorry your stay was such a dissapointment , I really apologise for this. The problem was there was a change of management and the old management never updated us about your reservation. We try to do what we could to help you, but sadly enough there happened a tragedy in my family as my mom passed away... More

Makana's is one of the last accommodations in Santa Teresa when heading up towards the other playas. As you turn left down the downhill road you will see the properties restaurant, (amazing food and experience) and drive down to the three cabanas. There is free parking accommodations and a very short walk to a beautiful public, but quiet beach! A... More

Conveniently located steps away from the beach. You'll sleep and awake to the sound of the ocean. That's why it's a special place in Santa Teresa to stay. I enjoyed my stay and would be delighted to visit again. The rooms were spacious and clean with necessary amenities like a fridge, safe and a/c(when needed). It's surrounded by greenery everywhere... We enjoyed our stay at Makanas in the beginning of February. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed, the bed was very comfy, beach towels and toiletries provided, the safe for small electronics in a room was a great convenience. A nice terrace was perfect for drinking our morning coffee or just having a cold drink right... More

Makana is a Hawaiian language term meaning gift or reward. I completely agree with that description when talking about Makanas of Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. Located beyond the busy stretch of Santa Teresa roadway, Makanas was built strategically below this main road into town giving the guest a quiet experience in one of its three cabinas. A tiled floor, nice... More

We really enjoyed our days at Makanas. We will definitely be back. Perfect location with amazing beaches within footsteps. Monkeys and lizards all around. Aaron can make a wicked waffle. Aaron is a terrific guide. He knows the area like the back of his hand.

I stayed at Makanas for a week and had trouble leaving. The rooms are clean, and air conditioned, and the porches all had hammocks that were great to relax in after a day on the beach. A hop, skip, and a jump from some of the most amazing beach I've ever been to, Makanas provides unparalleled value. I would definitely... More
