Don Jon*s has a variety of accomodations, great restaurante, and is conviniently located. Dorm rooms for backpackers, modern apartments with AC for groups, and rustic cabins with private rooms all made from teak wood and very one of a kind. A restaurante serving the freshest fish tacos, burritos, sandwiches and salads all ways, always. Only 100 meters walk to Santa Teresa beach with consistent surf year round and in the center of the village near markets, reataurantes, and soccer plaza. A family run establishment where the service is personalized and with gusto. See you soon! Pura Vida!

I stayed with my friend at their tree house and I absolutely liked it! We were woken up too early since they have workers doing their thing but we absolutely understood it! I felt like a monkey the whole time and it was a perfect spot for pictures lol. We rented a motorcycle and were able to park it with no problems at all and the hospitality provided was 10/10. :)

I stayed at 13 different places while traveling through Ecuador and Costa Rica and Don Jon's was undoubtedly my favorite place. The open-air common area with good furniture and hammocks everywhere is a great place to hang out and relax. Jon and the rest of his staff are very helpful and accommodating; they set up surf lessons and ATV rentals for us. We stayed in a spacious, comfortable private room in the tree-house area. Everyone staying here is so relaxed and happy, and it's almost impossible not to be at ease and in a good mood. This place is amazing!! Highly recommend.

Dons lodge was the rustic, chilled, nature immersive escape we needed for two days near the beach. Basic but wonderful. Clean lodging, quiet accommodation with the no alarms needed as the sweet calls of birds wake you gently. Staff were OK - messed up a taxi booking the day we were leaving, luckily we asked about it the night before or it would’ve left a sour taste in our mouth if we’d had to have waited for a taxi at 6am that wasn’t coming!

Wait, what year is it, 1970? I stepped out of the van and entered my past without even smoking anything. My daughter had only been here once for a week and everyone greeted her like family. It’s located right on the main road but as soon as you enter you’re in a little oasis of pathways with hammocks, tropical plants and local fruit trees. There are hostel rooms in the front and tree houses in the back. We stayed 3 nites in the tree house which was fun with fans and then upgraded to a little apt with ac, a kitchen and 2 bedrooms. There’s a communal kitchen that is so pleasant to use. The rooms are very clean and the staff is so pleasant and accommodating. Also there is a yoga spot way up high among the trees where they offer free classes or you can use on your own. The instructor is well trained in various schools of yoga and is very attentive to your individual needs. I’m 66 and was a bit worried that everyone would say “ oh no my mom’ and/or abuela is here” , but haven’t gotten that feeling at all. The best part is that i took a surf lesson from one of their instructors and got up the first time!

Over the last twelve or thirteen years I've probably visited Don Jons more than anyone else on the planet. I brought my daughter first when she was 9 and damn, somehow she's now 23. 20 or so stays at Jons through the years is no exaggeration. Everyone associated with Don Jons have truly become family and that absolutely includes the travelers from around the globe that return year after year attracted to the same magic that keeps us buying those southbound plane tickets as well. The accommodations, the vibe, the staff, the surf, the travelers. I love this place. Pura Vida

we booked a three bed room and got a beautiful room in a big wooden house. we had to walk through the huge garden full of trees and plants, it‘s a nice place! for our 3 nights we enjoyed our big beds and our own bathroom. also we enjoyed the hammock on our small patio and our own private fridge. it would have been great if there was soap in the toilet. I was a bit disappointed by the common kitchen. the equipment was not enough and there is no common fridge to cool your food.

I cant get this place out of my head. The atmosphere, the people, the community. Don Jon's is one of a kind. Surfers of all types (beginners, pro's etc.) hit the waves together and chill in the hammocks afterwards. Animals run abundantly. Monkeys laugh in the trees. You feel completely at home; everyone feels like family. The dorm room is big enough to have your own space and the air conditioner makes sleeping comfortable. The washrooms can be a bit stinky and the shower doesn't have hot water, but this doesn't matter at all. Don Jon's is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed at, and I would go back again in a heartbeat.

This place made our time in Santa Teresa a wonderful time. It has a feeling of home and the people that it attracts are fantastic. Location is spot on, literally seconds from the beach, they have the fabulous surf instructors ready to teach you how to ride a wave, beautiful staff and Jon is a legend always down for a beer and a chat with the guests. A seriously sociable, clean and comfortable place. We stayed one night in the dorms and then moved into the bungalows which was a dream. I can’t recommend this place more highly and I will be returning. Pura Vida!

Really relaxed, friendly and fun vibe (pingpong table a bonus :) ) albeit not so much the staff who speak little to no english and so don't have banter/fun with guests! But for me, not necessarily a bad thing, especially if you are learning spanish - most staff are Costa Rican. We stayed in a private room in the pagoda type wooden buildings out back. Really good size, shower etc and the gardens are lush with lots of wildlife, and the viewing decks / yoga spaces on the tops are cool. Surf board rental was good and easy. Be warned that the Howler Monkeys can be very, very loud at 5-6 am and sound pretty scary the first time - and we're two very laid back guys but it's a shock to wake up to. Again, all good though - you are either drunk and sleep through it or sober and will likely wake up early with sunrise anyway. With all the surf, trips, cafes, yoga etc and other things to do we never wanted to sleep in!
