Otro Lado is the best place to stay in Santa Teresa. This is the second time I have stayed there. Owners Selvaggia and Nico will welcome you with their warm Italian hospitality and make everything easy. Even before I arrived, Selvaggia was extremely helpful in answering questions promptly and planning my activities. She took care of all the details. Once you arrive, you will be delighted with your creatively designed room complete with beautiful wood accents. My room had everything I needed in it – a safe, a shower, and a large comfy bed. The property is beautifully landscaped with tropical plants and flowers, and the architecture is funky and modern. There are also a great little pool to take a dip in and big hammocks to lounge around in. Every morning, you will have a delicious breakfast homemade by Selvaggia. She and Nico speak fluent English with a wonderful Italian accent, so communication is easy. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there, not just because of the physical accommodations but for the people behind them.…
With lovely decor, AC in rooms, lovely pool, and great breakfast included, Otro Lado is an oasis from the busy dusty road of beach town Santa Teresa. You can also buy lunch there on weekdays - again delicious! Space for yoga, and for quiet times. Our space was on the second floor, with two bedrooms each with their own bathroom, and a fabulously large and private veranda...and a kitchen. We were 3 retired women, but younger couples and families were also there. it is not large and the calmness and beauty were so welcomed! Thank you.
My boyfriend and I wanted a chill and relaxing experience by the beach when we came to Santa Teresa. Otro Lado was everything we wanted. We arrived after a long drive to a quick check in, quiet and relaxing vibes and a beautiful and clean suite. The pictures don’t do the suite or the inner pool area justice. We loved it. One of the main reasons we went to Santa Teresa was to learn how to surf. Otro Lado set us up with a surf instructor who also works at the hotel, Richard. We met him at the front desk and walked a short distance to the beach with the boards to start the lesson. Richard was amazing and honestly one of our favorite parts of our trip. He’s a great teacher, really encouraging and overall has great vibes. After our first lesson we immediately booked another for the next day, partly because we just wanted to hang out with him more. We got his information for our friends to contact him when they visit Santa Teresa as well. I accidentally forgot my camera charger in the room after checking out, & they contacted me to let me know it had been left behind and left it at the front so that I could come back and pick it up. Usually when I leave something at a hotel I assume it’s lost forever - this nice gesture just shows what a great place Otro Lado is. We highly recommend Otro Lado. We left Santa Teresa to explore more of Costa Rica and have missed it ever since, joking about driving back to stay at Otro Lado a few more nights. We definitely will be back. …
I booked a stay 4 months in advance, but 70 days before my reservation, I requested that my booking be cancelled due to circumstances beyond my control. I asked for a refund, and offered to pay a cancellation fee as is the case for most reservations. The owner declined saying that the penalty fee is the full booking amount. I informed his that this is greedy considering my booking was 70 days away, and even airlines allow you to cancel for a penalty. I politely told him I would review his established and thanked him for his time. He responded saying that if I posted a negative review, he would publish our email correspondence. I was shocked at the level of unprofessionalism. The fact that the owner thinks it's suitable to publish email correspondence containing confidential customer information is completely appalling. It makes me wonder how many clients had negative experiences and reached out to the owner for redress but didn't publish a review to let other customers know because of the fear that the owner would publish their personal info on the internet. Pls beware of such management practices at Otro Lado Lodge and spare yourself the frustration by booking better accommodation in the area.…
We had a wonderfull stay at Otro Lado lodge with the family in one of the lodges. It is a true hide away with a beatifull garden and nice pool, but just seps away from the beach and restaurants. Breakfast is included and was really good!
