I'm not sure where all the good reviews come from (which is why we chose this place) but it's awful. Disgustingly filthy, disgusting toilets/bathrooms with no water in the taps, bedrooms were filthy and beds were broken and the list goes on. The owner was quick to take our money but really slow to fix anything. Eventually we left to go elsewhere because it was that disgusting. Owner refused to give a refund for the balance of our stay that we didn't use. I've travelled all over and slept on tables and on the beach but this was the WORST place ever.

Good price relative to everything else in the area. Short walk up the hill kept the place quiet and laid back - but still close enough to everything in town. Always a hammock available for chill time. Two kitchens so even when many people were there you are able to cook when you want. The staff was super helpful and accommodating. They helped us each time we extended our stay and helped us sort all our shuttles/buses which made onward travel easy. Quick walk to the surf in the mornings, come back and cool off in the pool. I could have posted up there for a month and been stoked. Thanks for a great stay!

Best hostel en S Teresa! Amazing swimming pool, 2 large kitchens, very good vibes with all the guests. After 11 pm you can sleep very well. Very close to playa carmen, good for surfing also for beginners. Very close to Taboo Beach Club witch is the best place for eat sushi and hang out with friends ( Wednesday , friday , saturday the best parties). The owners and the volunteers are very helpful and they can suggest you many activities around. Vaamooossss

Everything felt clean and maintained. Had no problems with staff. People were friendly. Limited kitchen supplies but nothing we couldn't manage. Great location and felt prices could have been cheaper. Wifi not so good.

I came to Pura Vida hostel to stay for four or five days, and I ended up staying for two months. The atmosphere in the hostel was always excellent, it's got one of the nicest Chill out areas that gets people together, and a pool to cool off in. I couldn't recommend it enough, and the whole place feels like one big family, with Pablo and Marcela the lovely owners, and all the volunteers, it really was sad to leave there.

The rooms where rough with thin walls and gaps to the outside. WiFi worked 50% of the time and it felt like they hadn’t really figured out how to run everything. For example: Instead of having payment at check in or check out, they came knocking on our door at 10pm night before check out and asked for all money in cash (right away). So instead of getting to bed we went on a money trip. One last thing. Cleaning of bathrooms and showers could be done some other time then between 8-10 in the morning when pretty much everyone wants to use them.

This December was the second time I visited Pura Vida Mini Hostel and I have to say the place is awesome. I slept on a private room for myself and it was very comfortable. Even thou it was High Season it was pretty cheap for a private room, compared to other prices I was given elsewhere. When my friends came we moved to a lovely bungalow on the back, with a nice external shower and kitchen. The place is fully equiped to cook, nice chilling hut to smoke and read a book on a nice hammock, both hosts and guests are very friendly. Good vybes all around!

My boyfriend & I originally booked for 4 nights, but extended to 6 as we loved it so much. We had a private room with an ensuite which was big enough (I could even exercise in there) & super clean. It's very relaxed & quiet, so if you are after a party hostel with heaps of people, this isn't really the place for you. But perfect for travellers & holiday makers who are after some peace, quiet & a nice place. Great location, few mins walk to the beach, supermarket & restaurants at the end of the road (the actual street is super quiet so no noise which is great). The pool is nice, my only criticism is there are no sun loungers, but again, you're right by the beach & you can always lie on the side of the pool. The chill out area is amazing, several hammocks. We spent about 80% of our time here. Kitchens are fine, fully equipped & cleaned every day. Staff are all lovely & very helpful. Always someone at reception & happy to arrange transfers for you too!! Highly recommend staying here & I would definitely come back!! Very sad to be leaving.

Don't mean to be mean, but it's the worst hostel I've seen. And I saw many. Mostly because of the bathroom, who was horrible. Plus, a toilet on two was broken. The door of the bath didn't close properly, the were spider wed everywhere and the floor was gross. I'm not easily disgusted but this time I took my shower with flip-flops. I didn't went to the kitchen area and the pool area. But we met two girls and they were both living in the bungalows and they said it's awesome out here. And I have to say that the room are clean, but pretty small. I would not recommend this hostel and wouldn't go there again.
