We went for our honeymoon June of 2022! It was perfect! The rooms are beautiful with a raindrop shower that can be indoor/outdoor looking out your balcony. We stayed in building four on the top floor and had the best view of the peninsula and ocean! We saw lots of monkeys, iguanas, and a deer (which is rare) on the property! Everyone is very kind and helpful. If you want luxury and relaxation with beautiful views, this is the place to be. Tips: 1. Download WhatsApp. This is what everyone uses in Costa Rica. 2. No elevators, so if you have difficulty with walking this may not be the place for you. However, they do have a lot of golf carts to pick people up. 3. Check the season. We went at the end of June for 2 weeks and it rained nearly everyday (typically starting at 5-6pm). Wasn’t an issue for us because we got up early to enjoy the day! :) everything is green in June because it’s their wet season. Absolutely beautiful. 4. The tour excursions they offer (ie white water rafting) seem very expensive. We went through CostaRica Unique for our tours. It was about $125 per person full day tours. 5. If you want to see volcanos/hike/waterfalls etc it is further away (1.5hrs or so depending on if you go through a tour group or not can be less and can be much more) So be prepared to be in the car/van. 6. Bring lots of cash for tips. Especially if you’re not renting a car (which I don’t think you need). 7. There is an adult only breakfast area where you can get free mimosas and bloody Mary’s! Breakfast is delicious. Gallo pinto + plantains + eggs + chimichurri is soo good if you want to try something Costa Rican! There’s tons of options for breakfast (omelette, French toast, waffles, cereal etc) …
From the beautiful pools to the amazing beach house and the delicious food, everything was perfect: the room was huge and immaculately clean, the shower had a breathtaking view on the bay. The hotel offers a wide range of activity options to discover the peninsula’s fauna and surroundings or to simply relax and enjoy delicious cocktails on the beach! But we have to say, the best part of our stay was the staff! Everyone was so nice and helpful. We felt so pampered! And if you have the chance to meet with our new hermano Randall, please enjoy the moment, that guy is the best!! In 1 word, this hotel is paradise! We can’t wait to go back there!
We stayed here for in Mid-May three nights. Our expectations were high. However, almost instantly we felt let down. We arrived at the property to find a large construction project on going. We were told not to worry about the noise as what we heard now was as loud as it would get. Although it may not have gotten super loud, it was quite constant throughout the stay. Most luxury hotels we have stayed have offered a welcome drink upon arrival, here it was a bottle of water. This is when I should have realized that management/ownership is nickeling and diming you and left me for wanting a better arrival experience. Our room was basic and did not have the feel of a 5-star room. You could hear noise from the neighboring balconies as well. The bed was comfortable. However, the lights would seem to control themselves at night, several times they would turn on by themselves (they were not motion sensor controlled either, thankfully because that may been more concerning). There were other issues with the room which we complained and received a comped meal to remedy the issues, which was thoughtful. The mini fridge was stocked daily, with a charge of course. Again, my expectations of a high priced 5-star resort would include at least the beer as complimentary. The resort did offer guest gold cart rides when requested, we only requested upon departure, and it took nearly 20 minutes for someone to arrive. There were several restaurants which all were good, and we enjoyed our meals. They offered a shuttle to take you to the Four Seasons. My partner had been to this resort about 6 years earlier and had much better experience. If this was priced as a 3 or 4 star, I am sure I would have been more satisfied, but the 5-star rating elevated my expectations and left me wanting for more.…
The rooms are beautiful ,quiet and very comfortable , the food is excellent in each restaurant option the staff is very friendly and work hard to make the guests feel comfortable, it is very pleasant to have such beautiful beach in front of the hotel ,for our transportation to the airport we book with Issys Tours ,where we also enjoyed an adventure in the Arenal volcano ,I highly recommend this company , they provide an incredible and efficient service. Likewise , I highly recommend this complex to families too ,they do an excellent job . we hope return soon !!
Made empanadas with Chef Edison.great instructor .fabulous experience and extremely accommodating! The staff here is amazing. Went paddle boarding with Maria. Her knowledge of the bay and the area was vast and interesting. Highly recommend.
Amazing place. Absolutely beautiful. The staff are all so incredibly nice and helpful. The food is delicious. And of course, it's the most beautiful place I've ever been to. I can't think of a single negative thing to say
Unbelievably beautiful place, out of this world, paradise!!!! Whoever wrote negative reviews either deeply depressed or severely obnoxious. Please don't believe them, book your stay and enjoy your vacation. Unrealistically well maintained grounds, kindest stuff on earth, food is very very high standards and delicious, presented as an art.Resort Layout, pools and overall fitting into the nature just great. Beach club is definitely worth to be at and boat ride to it it's a delightful as well. Free bicycles if you are up to some exercise, all electric, makes it easier to navigate up to the hill. Onda spa is different story to tell, definitely worth to visit, even to look at. I had couple of treatment and massage -all of the above was exceptional. Special thank you for all the people who made my stay so special. Felix at concierge, very helpful and patient, Minor who makes great drinks at pool bar, Melvin as our waiter and Lorena a manager, Hainer at beach club, Karina, Xida, Marisol at Ostra restaurant and many many others who put so much effort to make tourists happy and welcome …
The rooms are thoughtfully designed, beautiful, and very quiet. I was worried about construction nearby (based on other reviews) but it was not a problem at all. We saw monkeys play every day and a variety of animal and insect life. The beaches offered great snorkeling and we enjoyed the paddle boarding. Taking the boat to the beach house was easy and fun. My husband swam it one day, so it's not far at all. The resort staff provided excellent recommendations for ziplining, fishing, and other exciting activities. This saved us a lot of planning time and we were delighted with all our adventures! Lots of great memories. The food is excellent at each restaurant option, and all staff work hard - and excel - at making guests feel welcome and very comfortable. You can feel the pride people have in Costa Rica, their environment, and tourism. Sipping coffee and looking out at the beautiful blue water and expansive, undeveloped forest from our lovely balcony each morning was such a treat. I would highly recommend this resort for both couples and families, as they do a great job of providing spaces for each. We hope to come back and explore more. …
We had our wedding at Andaz Papagayo and it was an incredible experience for all of our guests. The staff went out of their way to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable, the food and drinks were amazing, the facilities were well-kept and everyone had an amazing time. We can't thank the staff enough for making our dream wedding come to life and taking such good care of our friends and family.
Recently returned from Costa Rica and one of the properties we stayed at was here. Andaz Papagayo is a quiet and immaculate property tucked into an exclusive gated off area of Costa Rica. While some may view this as a positive, it feels unnecessary, given the rather remote location. Be warned that there isn't really much of a beach on the resort property itself, though you can take a short (and complimentary) shuttle ride to a better one. They do have a pretty good assortment of equipment to get out on the water, including kayaks and paddleboards. We did the kayaking and I would recommend it, as the bay is very protected and you can't get a much better environment to kayak in the ocean than here. Andaz has fantastic pools. They have a separate pool for kids and two more for adult use, partially shaded by beautiful tropical trees. We also had zero issues securing chairs and shade poolside, in contrast to say - Secrets, where those were snagged by 9am and squatted on for the entire day. The vibe of Andaz is completely different from Secrets though. Andaz is the peaceful and upscale place to relax by the pool. Secrets is the pool party with unlimited drinks. The food was expensive (by Costa Rica standards) but pretty good. The drinks, particularly of the frozen variety, were excellent, but at $15+ a glass, they better be. That's no cheaper than back home. The room was great. It exceeded expectations all-around. There was a huge private balcony with furniture, and the shower was enormous. Room layout was nice, keeping the sleeping area partitioned from the bathroom and entrance area. Despite advertising, all rooms seem to face the water. I think the ones marked as water view may be simply closer to the water's edge. We were in the second row (there are only two rows of buildings) and could see the water quite well from our windows. Andaz is so quiet that it was a little boring. There isn't much to do there aside from hanging out at the pool or beach, and eating. Fortunately, I spoke with a friend who had been to Costa Rica twice in recent years and she recommended a great local guide she used. We also signed up with him while at Andaz and elsewhere in the country. I would like to give him a mention as well, since he was the cornerstone of our successful trip. The guide's name is Herson Segura and he operates a personal tour guide service (Spanglish Tours). He'll pick you up at the airport, arrange all your tours, drive you around from location to location - whether tour spot or hotel, and answer all your questions. This saves you having to rent a car or worry about insurance, driving, estimating transportation times, tour times, and whether you're booking the best tours or not - after talking with you about what tours you might be interested in, also considering the weather, time of year, and so on - factors that someone flying in for a few days or a couple weeks just isn't going to know. He's fully bilingual and a local, so he knows all that, and handles it for you. You pay him one fee, and all the rest is included. This allows you to maximize your time while on vacation and minimizes the amount you have to worry about. I found his rates to be very reasonable and would like to recommend him whether you're visting Andaz or anywhere else in the vicinity. We arranged everything with him over Instagram (IG: @hersonSegura) where you can see his photos and info. He's also reachable on WhatsApp at +506 8990 8115. Very personable, highly recommended. In our case, Andaz was the third of four properties we stayed at (not counting the airport hotel since we got in late). We stayed there for three nights and departed directly from the beach via boat. Herson set up a fishing excursion for us that also served as the transportation between Andaz and Secrets Resort - our final stop. While fishing, I caught a 100 pound roosterfish and we had a great time just being out on the water too. I would recommend Andaz to anyone who wants a peaceful retreat away from everything. It's definitely that. I think our stay of 3 nights there was perfect. I would encourage anyone visiting Costa Rica to stay in several places just to see more of the country. It's not a big country but there is a lot of things to see.…
