Visiting Costa Rica during my winter break. I loved the layout of the resort and the beautiful tropical nature setting. We had a room at the top of the hill overlooking the resort and bay. The staff were incredible and very friendly. Shout out to Merari, Arturo, and Randy for all their amazing service and making us feel at home! The weather was gorgeous, and there was endless activities and pool games! We enjoyed an amazing day at the spa for a massage, while sneaking glimpses at the iguanas and pretty birds in the area! We went for the sunset nature hike and were greeted with an amazing sunset over the ocean! Would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a quiet but fun place to relax!
We went to this Secrets for the second time the first week of December 2020, and have decided it is so far our favorite place, hands down. The first time we went was May 2019, which was the dry season, so we wanted to go back this time at the end of the rainy season to see how it was different. We will definitely go back again some December. Everything was much more lush and beautiful surrounding the resort. The first 3 days, 11/30-12/3, there were afternoon rain showers, but didn't deter us from staying in the pool for water volleyball. You're already wet, right? We felt very safe, even during the pandemic, as everything was clean and we witnessed the staff constantly sanitizining. All staff wears masks, and we only dined inside once for breakfast. Every other meal was outside. The villas are also COVID friendly as you're not in a tower hotel with elevators, etc. I believe the occupany was about 30% which was actually very fun because you see and get to know almost everyone there if you want to. Plenty of opportunity to get to yourself if preferred too. Some restaurants were closed or rotating, which was totally fine, we never had much of a wait. Our favorites were the Asian and Italian. Never disappointed with the food. We brought friends this time, who also loved it so much we all decided to stay for an extra night and were there for 9 nights total. If you do not find Herson Segura and use him for excursions, you're doing it wrong! We met him on our first trip after reading reviews on here, and have kept in touch. You can find him on Instagram prior to your trip: @hersonsugura. He will ask you your interests and personally tailor excursions, including private transportation. Since we've gotten to know him so well, we hired him to even pick us up and take us back to the airport. Both trips he arranged us with private fishing and sunset tours. We also went hiking to waterfalls, hot springs, zip lining, and white water tubing. All fabulous and definitely recommended. He is a local, speaks Engligh and Spanish, and knows the best places and deals. He is often on the beach during the day, so you can meet him there too to discuss excursions. Be nice and take him a margarita on the rocks to the beach while he is working :). And tell him Allison and Nate say hi! The staff was amazing, and several remembered us well from our 2019 trip, which was a very nice welcome. There is a resort drink called the Green Monster you should definitely try. We will definitely be returning, and will continue to bring friends so we can show them how amazing this place and Costa Rica are. If you look at my past review, I have more details about the beach. etc. Thank you Secrets Papagayo!…
My boyfriend and I visited the resort in early January 2021 and cannot say enough about the wonderful staff at this resort. First of all, the entire team did an impeccable job with regard to COVID-19 protocols that made us feel very safe. David greeted us and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The main pool bar staff went above and beyond! Shout out to Arturo, Victor, Henry and Mauricio. We thoroughly enjoyed the variety of dining options, particularly the hibachi dinner (Our hibachi chef Javier was a true delight) and wonderful breakfasts and dinners at the Seaside Grill (great menu options and views of the water just steps away), We also enjoyed room service for breakfast a couple mornings - the coffee is fantastic! We discovered the CoCo Cafe with wonderful hot and iced coffees and smoothies. What a beautiful country Costa Rica is! We will definitely be back. and would highly recommend this resort. …
I’ve been on several all inclusive locations around the world but this was my first time doing an adult only all inclusive. I was happy that all the employees were very nice, caring and patient but sad to find out this was not the scene and ambience I was expecting. It was clear to me that this resort is mostly for people who are 50 and older and couples. I was looking for more of a singles party scene. If anyone one knows of any please I am open to recommendations.
My wife and I along with our adult daughter and her boyfriend stayed at the resort for 6 nights. Overall, we had a great time and enjoyed our stay. Room: Our room, Preferred King Ocean View Suite, was very nice with a wonderful Ocean View. It was very nicely decorated, had comfortable bedding, ample closet and chest of drawer space for our things. The balcony was very nice, a good size, with comfortable furniture. Pool and Pool Bars (Barracuda/Manatees): Pools were very nice and beautiful. Drinks were handmade and very tasty. Bartenders, Victor, Henri, and Randy were great! Market Café: Very nice for breakfast and lunch. Service was excellent and the food was really good. They have a buffet type setting, with servers that serve your plate (Covid) with many varieties of dishes. Seaside Grill: Very nice outdoor restaurant only for preferred guests for breakfast and lunch and open for all for dinner. Long wait times. Be prepared to spend at least 1.5 hours for your meal. Our server Yohani was terrific. Portofino: Excellent Italian food restaurant with great food. Hitimsu Restaurant: Very nice Asian restaurant with very good sushi rolls, sashimi, and soups. They also have two teppanyaki tables that seat 4 persons each, which needs reservations. Coco Café: Great coffee shop and service. They also have a gelato station that is wonderful.
