Welcoming, friendly & staff! Great customer service from check-in, owners, grounds keeper, cleaners and waitresses. Definitely know how to cater to their guest. The passion, love and commitment was truly felt! Decorated beautifully, quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed the outdoor area as much as our beautiful spacious seafront room with very comfortable beds. Watching the sunrise and set on the porch takes all the stress away! The food was absolutely the best - island flavor with a twist! One meal made my husband think of home - Trinidad "Bake & Shark" but the chef's spin on Jack & Fish was absolutely excellent! Looking forward to our next visit. Dale & Carmela celebrated our 39th Wedding Anniversary
Hopkins, Belize is such a fabulous little Caribbean village with warm sunshine and warmer people!! It gives you a real taste of small town Belizean life. Coconut Row is situated perfectly in the heart of the village. This is not some huge, opulent resort. This is a warm, inviting, wonderfully detailed family-run hotel that makes you feel like you’re actually in another country instead of the huge American resorts that give you an American experience. Damian and his wife are so friendly, they gave expert restaurant and dive recommendations. Janet and Iris make tasty drinks at the bar and are sure to keep them refilled! Modesto helped us organize the most fabulous experiences that Alfio drove us safely to, or when Matthew guided us on a great snorkel. We had booked scuba diving through the big guy in town, and we were so happy that Damian suggested the small, local shop instead where we had perfect diving. They have two friendly German Shepherds, Bubbles and Bella, who made us feel nice and safe and also made great patio companions. Freezing cold AC at night, wide open windows to capture the breeze during the day...We felt so happy, comfortable, relaxed and well-attended during our nice long stay here. We can’t wait to come back some lovely day!!!!…
Damian and his staff really went out of the way to make our stay great. Excellent snorkel trip, good restaurant, transit to Mayflower Bocawina National Park, lovely setting on the Caribbean. Loved laid-back Hopkins.
We enjoyed our 4 night stay in this beachfront property, and it is in a good location close to restaurants, bars, and grocery stores. We stayed in a cute cabana with a small fridge and coffee maker. It’s convenient to have coffee first thing in the morning since we have been waking up early. The restaurant doesn’t open for breakfast until 8 am. It is very convenient to have the restaurant on site and we ate our breakfasts there. When we first arrived, the owner Damian was there to greet us. He was very friendly and helpful. The welcome drink was a nice touch. The staff were very nice. Coconut Row owned a tour shuttle and a boat. We had a rental car so we didn’t book an inland tour. We went on the “fish and snorkel” tour. The guide and boat Captain were very patient and helpful. We used their kayak on our last full day and that was a nice experience and the staff helped us get it on the beach. Our only disappointment is the thick sargussum along the beaches. It is not specific to Coconut Row. It is the entire Belize west coast problem. We didn’t realize that it was a big problem when we planned our vacation, and sadly, we didn’t enjoy the Belizean beach experience in San Pedro, Placencia, and Hopkins.…
Gorgeous family run hotel with stunning cabins right on the beach at Hopkins. We visited with our 2 young kids & it was the perfect place for us to stay. Small, intimate, spotlessly clean & super friendly service from every single staff member. Great on-site Restaurant overlooking the ocean. 100% recommended! We would return in a flash!
My husband and I chose Coconut Row because it was centrally located in Hopkins. The staff is off the charts amazing, Modesto and Gladis became like family and were so kind and gracious to any basic need we had. Ruby, Iris and the rest of the staff were just amazing people too. The rooms (I say rooms because we moved due to circumstances that had nothing to do with the hotel) were beautiful and comfortable. We mainly stayed in the Cocomaque room which had a huge veranda facing the ocean with a table and hammock - it was above and beyond anything we could have expected for the price. Damien is a great host too. The food: forget it, so so good everywhere we went. Do not leave without trying the Hudut. We didn't have a car so we went to places right in town. Coconut Husk was consistently great, Semeti Giffity: located right by Buttonwood and painted with the Garifuna Flag was also amazing (say hello to Dehlia for us). We also recommend Ella's, Siomara's, Queen Bean and Nice Dream Ice Cream As many tourists do, we absolutely fell in love with the town. Everyone was so friendly and we were taken in like family by quite a few folks. If you are chill people you will have the same experience.…
If you like a beach view only quiet kind of place this is it! Steps from the beach with a cool breeze almost every day while we were here. The restaurant is also steps away and you can eat there or in your room or on the beach. Drinks also with buckets of beer anywhere you'd like. Don't let me forget about the staff. Felt like concierge service. Would be a great place for a small wedding too. They have many excursions for you to do too. The town of Hopkins also has lots to do within walking distance. We have never felt more safe. My husband keeps saying that it reminds him of the old Key West. The owners were great. We will be back. Dave & Laurie
This was my first trip to Hopkins so I wasn't sure what to expect. The property was very clean and well taken care of. The staff was very communicative even before our arrival and very accomodating. There are some nearby restaurants that were great, Peers, Thongs, Luba Laruga, Driftwood for the drumming, (because of Holiday and standard closings we weren't able to eat at the on-site restaurant but once). I'm torn on what I think about the location. I think my issue is more related to the fact that I wanted culture and always forget local culture doesn't mean people do minor care to their properties like pick up trash. That said, it's a very safe area and the locals are great!
The room was super nice and very clean. The shower was particularly pretty. But the best part was the location and stepping right out onto the beach. I liked this better than staying at a self-contained, fancy resort where you’re overpaying for a room you’re only sleeping in, and confined to the resort for the most part. My boyfriend loved Mel’s Diner by the Sea, just down the beach. Everyone was very friendly, and Mel gave us a big meal to go (in Tupperware!) because so many places were closed for Easter weekend. The locals were super friendly, and I felt very safe.
Coconut Row is a no frills "resort" right on the beach. It is also right in town, making it convenient to walk to any number of restaurants, bars and stores. Hopkins is an interesting town; the locals are mostly of the Garifuna culture, and are famous for their drumming and dancing traditions. The management is extremely accommodating, and does their best to provide anything you might need. The accommodations are simple but clean and more than adequate. There's a restaurant onsite if you don't have the energy to walk an extra 100 yards to another one. Like most of Belize, everyone working there has a smile on their face! I would come back here for sure.
