My family of 3 stayed in the Del Mar cabana for 4 enjoyable days. Dorothy, who lives just behind the cabanas, was an attentive and helpful host. She even helped us pay for Noawel's snorkeling tour with a credit card so we could save our limited cash. The cabana is tastefully decorated, but also well-worn, in a way that fits north Hopkins, which doesn't have the upscale places of the southern beach. (The Del Playa cabana apparently is newer.) Everything was perfectly functional. The large deck is sunny in the morning and shaded in the afternoon. Where else can you have a private cabana with kitchenette right on the beach at this price? Hopkins is lucky to have Lebeha. There are several small places to eat within a few minutes walk, and even the center of town is not too far. The only issue we had was the morning of our tour, none of the restaurants close by were open early enough for us. Most days North Side Kitchen was open early. We also enjoyed Queen Bean and Laruna Hati. The Driftwood, which used to be next door, has moved down near the Village Store, but there is a small new bar right by the old location. The beach was great for cooling off in the heat of the day, but note that Belize and the Caribbean have a growing problem of rafts of Sargassum seaweed washing ashore. When we were there in April, we only had to wade through a narrow band to get to clearer water. Cooling off in the shower was a little harder because the Del Mar shower only has warm water. I resorted to ladling cold water from the sink over myself. (I happened to notice that the Amarillo cabana has cold water in the shower.) More powerful ceiling fans also would have been nice. The wifi worked fine for us.

The Cabanas at the drumming centre are one of the more budget options while staying in Hopkins yet they did not feel like budget at all, especially with the view that they came with. They were well maintained and you can tell that there was a lot of of love and care put into the place. The owner was fantastic and offered us any assistance that she could in booking excursions as well as rides to and from the airport. These cabanas are right on the edge of town but the walk or bike ride is only a few minutes to all that Hopkins has to offer. There is a nice breeze that come off the ocean at night so the rooms cooled off nicely which definitley helped since there is no AC.

Loved taking students for an afternoon drum lesson from Jabbar. He and his students were so patient teaching my students rhythms and techniques of Garifuna drumming, and the drum performance that night was a real treat. It's a fun and unique activity to do in Hopkins----and these guys are considered the best Garifuna drummers in Belize! Lots of fun. Never stayed there, though we were always welcomed, but the drumming was great.

WhileI did not stay at the cabanas, I did spend 3 lovely mornings learning a bit of Garifuna drumming from Jabbar. He is truly patient and attentive as a teacher. I have very limited drumming experience and to learn from such a master drummer was one of the highlights of my stay in Belize. Thank you, Jabbar, I got my drum safely home and will practice for when I gladly come back again and take more lessons. Tamara

Lebeha Beach Cabanas are well set up and have a great view of the beach, all at a very budget-friendly price. Our cabin was spacious and had just enough of a kitchenette area (blender, fridge, coffee maker) for us. The owners were friendly as were "guard dogs" Hero and Blackberry. The whole stretch of Hopkins' beach is maybe 3 miles long, split into north and south of where the main road enters the village. This "center of town" is where the only ATM is, along with a few grocery stores. The center of town is still totally walkable from Lebeha but the cabanas are on the far north end of the beach so nothing is right on your doorstep. This can be good or bad depending on what you are looking for. There are a couple of restaurants pretty close by, including the awesome Driftwood Pizza. We only stayed a couple of nights and only had one full day here. I would recommend at least one more to anyone really wanting to get some time to explore Hopkins and get a chance to see/hear some drumming.
