We've been staying at Jungle Jeanie's for years now with our travel groups. This was my first time traveling to Belize to join the groups we typically send down there. What a treat! The staff was amazing. The food was great. The lodging and location is out of this world. A gem in Hopkins no doubt.
We stayed in the Sea Chalet Cabana at Jungle Jeanies on the evening of Valentines Day. Absolutely romantic. Beachfront lodging with sounds of the waves and sea breeze. Staff was so welcoming and knowledgeable. David the chef cooked us a delicious meal with complimentary desert. Jeannie lives on the property and is a true gem. If you’re looking for simple yet beautiful, this is your place. Quaint and unique. Will return next year.
We just stayed here for 10 days, my husband and I with our 9 month old baby, and my sister and her husband with 4 kids ranging in age from 7-14. I am used to nice all inclusives in Mexico, so this was definitely different and I was a bit taken aback at first. I just thought surely it would have most of the basic luxuries. It doesn’t. But we really enjoyed many aspects of it! Like any place, there’s pros and cons, depending on what you want. Pros: It’s small and private. We were mostly the only guests there, so the kids could tear around mostly without bothering anyone and we usually had the whole beach to ourselves. Definitely a huge bonus! You get to know the owners, managers, and staff personally too which is cool. It’s kind of like staying like with family. The cabanas are literally on the beach, or at least lots of them are. We were actually only 15 steps from the beach, so awesome. Easy to run back and forth anytime! We could leave our baby sleeping in the cabana and go hang out on the beach, which we did a ton of. We were also right beside the kitchen/dining so it was very easy to run back and forth for baby food, bibs, etc while eating. No long walks to anywhere unless you wanted! Right by the town of Hopkins without being in it, also a short walk to bigger resorts down the beach. Not crowed out by resorts though, so feels very country/jungle but close to a small town. Very authentic and got to see Belize way of life for what it actually is. Loved that about it! Water was calm for probably 7 of the 10 days we were there. In fact, many mornings it was almost like glass, flat with almost no ripple. This is thanks to the reef several miles out. But to us that was really cool. Great for swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking etc. Cons: The bugs. Omg the bugs. The sand flies and mosquitos would be the single biggest reason I wouldn’t go back. Our first night I wasn’t prepared and ended up with about 200-300 bites on my legs. They thought I had hives, not bites because it was so many. That being said bugs LOVE me and I react horribly to bites so it was way worse for me than anyone else, even though they annoyed others too. On a calm day, especially evening, load up on the bug spray! I was itching insane for days. Jellyfish in the water. They warned us about them and we saw quite a few, probably 20-30 during our stay. Sadly on the last day the 7 year old got stung by one 😭. He was in a lot of pain for a bit, but the sting really does only last 15-20 mins. This might be the 2nd biggest reason I wouldn’t go back, but I’m kind of terrified of sea critters. The cabanas are quite primitive. It’s a lot like camping, just a step up from tents. The bathrooms are old and in disrepair a bit, but they do mostly function. The sinks don’t have hot water, but that seems fairly normal for there. The shower has enough hot water for a decent rinse. But don’t expect nice beautiful accommodations! My sister and her hubby and kids have camped in Hawaii and they’re very back woodsy so it was right up their alley! We enjoyed it too, just very different than we were expecting. The food is ok. I don’t think Belize food is anything to write home about. You kind of find something to fill your stomach and that’s all. It was really cool to experience authentic Belize food, the first few days we really loved it, but it got a bit old. They did AMAZING at accommodating our gluten and dairy free diets though. We have no complaints, it just wasn’t that we were crazy about it. It seemed a bit expensive for what we got. There was some promises that weren’t delivered on, like two fresh fruit smoothies every day. Also, they charge a pretty penny for water if you don’t get the all inclusive plan. However I’m not well versed on what normal Belize prices are. All in all, if you like personal family camping style with more comfortable beds, an actual roof, and your food made for you, you’ll love this place! We had a great time and would overall definitely recommend it! …
I can't say enough about our stay at Jungle Jeanies and the amazing care they gave our kids. I loved waking up and going to sleep every day too the sounds of the waves. The beach really is the best beach in Belize, we have stayed all over Belize and I can conquer to the fact this is the best beach. We all had dietary concerns and the food was incredible. Jasmine and Lyndon were really attentive to our needs and made sure every meal was perfect for everyone in our family- we were all so impressed. Jeanie was there every day with Pepper and we were lucky enough to have honey the cat join us - it made my daughters day. Honey even followed us and hung around on the beach with us. Our room was super clean and every day the housekeeper came in and took such good care of us and got us all those little things the kids needed- lots of towels. I cant say enough, it was the first real time that I actually left Belize with all my kids and family and still felt I actually had a vacation Usually I feel worn out from catering to everyone. I give 100% credit to Jasmine and Lyndon for taking so much time to make sure we had a god time. THANK YOU GUYS !!! We will be back…
We just got home from a fabulous family vacation at Jungle Jeanies! I can't recommend the place enough. The staff make you feel like family, the coffee and breakfast are amazing! The beautiful ocean steps from your cabana can not be beat! My favorite part was the intimacy of the place, you don't feel like you are surrounded by other tourists in a resort that could be anywhere. Everything felt authentic. Jeanie is an amazing lady as are everyone that works here. They make the most delicious spreads and jams and of course the fried jacks and johnny cakes are the best. We loved having breakfast here every day! My husband and oldest son went finishing one day and brought back dinner that was graciously prepared by their staff. I was able to wake up and do yoga every morning in their beautiful yoga studio. It was a great place to stay and go on day excursions. Lots of great restaurants nearby also. We also fell in love with their dogs and cats, they helped make the place feel like home.…
