Room was very dated and needs updating for the price being charged. Grounds are kept well and pool staff at Rasa pool are lovely. Afternoon tea was a waste of time and they should try and improve food in restaurants instead. Food is awful in the buffet restaurant and was warm and no effort made by staff to cook food well like Shangri La Singapore. Restaurant for Rasa Wing serves same food every day which is mad if you are there for 7 days but staff were lovely here and try their best. Breakfast here great Had seafood buffet in main restaurant and it was cold and very disappointing. We ate out most nights after that We stayed in Rasa wing suite and had quite a few issues so hotel had to give us a discount and some money towards food and beverage. Should not need this if they are doing things properly in the first place Managers need to improve straight away as otherwise this is a 3/4 star hotel…
Our first time in Penang and had a fabulous time. Perfect resort hotel to unwind. For those preferring the quiet life best to select a room in the Rasa Wing. Garden Wing is more for families. A special thanks to the Manager and staff at Ferrenghi Grill who went with a little bit extra special effort to make our weekend great. Thanks.
This is a slightly older property on a nice beach at the north of Penang Island. Despite its age, the property is very well maintained and the teams functioned like a well oiled machine. The suite we had offered a stunning view and we were very comfortable and very well looked after. Food was excellent, plenty of amenities and our children were well looked after by the Rasa wing team. It really was the Malaysian staff we met who made our stay extra special. Most of all Cecilia who met us when we arrived and saw us off when we left. She epitomises Shangri La hotels and is a huge credit to the hotel and the group. Thank you to Jegan, Ranjit and Shyana who keep the wheels turning smoothly. Thanks also to Caren in the main restaurant.
Rasa Sayang is our go-to staycation destination - birthdays, anniversaries, school holidays, you name it! We love the resort feel, personable service and the Rasa Wing - afternoon tea, pre-dinner cocktail, breakfast at Ferringhi Grill (yes, we are spoilt). This round we are back for hub’s birthday. Great service and such detail by Cecilia, Joseph and team at the Rasa Wing front office; and Catherine and team at Ferringhi Grill! Well done Shangri-La Rasa Sayang!
What a great place to get away! Great amenities and fantastic service. Special shout out to Muru at the Rasa wing pool who went above and beyond everyday to ensure we had an enjoyable and relaxing time, amazing service! Thanks Muru!
Love my trip to Rasa Sayang Resort, Penang always and they never failed me in their superv quality service from everyone at the resort! Kudos to the Room Director Michelle Oon for making my stay more memorable with my family members including the children! She was amazing!
This hotel is fabulous We stayed in the Junior suites in the rasa wing which are very comfortable. We had afternoon tea cocktails and canapés every day. There is an adults only pool (well away from the family areas)with exceptional pool staff, a great gym with seperate male /female sauna, steam room and spa (all you need for a great holiday ) The only issue we had was checking in ..despite having paid in advance we waited four hours for our room to be available which was extremely disappointing(reception staff were very clinical and had no empathy at all ) however after that our holiday break was exceptional the rest of the staff in the hotel more than made up for it and were absolutely delightful ! One staff member even came in on his day off to teach us some dance moves ! The hotel is situated in beautiful grounds with some wonderful wildlife we saw giant black squirrels Sri Lankan blue kingfishers and spider monkeys and of course lots of monitor lizards .It also has a great day spa. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and will definitely come back again.…
Just wanted to extend our compliments to 3 outstanding staff at the Rasa Sayang during our visit between 8th to 19th August. Although all the staff were very friendly and helpful but the 3 member of staff really went above and beyond with there kind hospitality and helpfulness. They are Azhina from the lobby of Rasa Wing, Muru from the Poolside and Veronica from the reception of the Garden Wing. They have made our stay memorable with their warmth welcoming smile and interaction. They instinctively anticipated all our needs and gracefully executed their services with charm and discretion. Its individuals like these 3 beautiful people that makes one's stay memorable. Thank you very much. Kind regards, Mark and Joe from room 2438
Rasa Sayang has always been one of our favourite hotels on the island. Standard of service hasn't dropped one bit. The Rasa Wing has a sense of exclusivity and calm to our holiday. Great food and drinks options on the menu and friendly staff, always.
We stayed for a week in the family room. Initial impression was good but it soon deteriorated. The room is tired looking and we even got a bedsheet with holes in it on one occasion. I do like the green initiative having biodegradable bottles for toiletries and the water bottles are recycled and re-used. The pools in both Golden Sands (you are allowed to use this) and Rasa Sayang definitely need some proper repair. There are numerous missing tiles that can catch your feet and at least one patch that has 4 missing tiles and cement, sand, and some sort of mesh is visible. The golden sand pool does offer a better range of pools with a water play area and slides for the children. Love the greenery around the hotel and you often see lizards walking around and even in the pool. You can access a small beach area just next the pool which offers a good option when the children decided they wanted to build sandcastles. The breakfast has a good range of foods but slightly disappointed when roti canai were frozen stuff. Only freshly cooked are eggs and noodle soups stations. Hardly have any varieties over the week we are there so it got pretty boring if you are staying more than a few days. Saying this Monday was the worst when choices are obviously reduced but as a five stars hotel, this is not really acceptable? They offer a buggy service to take you to golden sands but on our last night we’ve waited for more than half an hour and no sight of it so we had to walk back. They could have told us it’s not available for the next hour and we could have walked and not waited in the heat. They did not really care much after my complaint and this really left a bad taste in my mouth. Hotel location is ok for Batu Ferringhi because you are in walking distance to a food centre. Do download the app and use grab cars to travel to Georgetown or Gurney, this is both safe and easy.…
